Behringer's newest 12-input, 2-bus mic/line mixer boasts 4 state-of-the-art Invisible Mic Preamps (IMPs) and an effective, extremely musical 3-band EQ plus switchable low-cut filter on all mono channels. There is also 1 post fader FX send per channel for external FX devices, main mix outputs plus separate control room, headphones, and stereo tape outputs. Every crucial development stage of the new UB Series has Uli Behringer's name on it - literally: from the design study to the circuitry layout to the mechanical makeup of the consoles. He has personally selected each and every individual component, all with the goal of squeezing the very most out of every single one of them. These consoles have been pushed as far as the technology permits to-date.

Invisible Mic Preamp (IMP)
Five years in the making, the Invisible Mic Preamp (IMP) is a superior mic preamp that delivers crystal-clear audio with incredible reproduction of the slightest nuances. It matches or exceeds the performance of outboard mic preamps. You get extreme bandwidth of 5 Hz to 100 kHz coupled to unusually neutral, noise- and distortion-free circuitry. The Behringer IMP provides ultra-linear frequency response up to 100 kHz. The result of perfect design. Almost unmeasurable distortion for your signal integrity.

Ultra Low-Noise (ULN)
ULN stands for the Ultra low-noise design of our circuitry. It is based on extremely low-impedance components that keep thermal inherent noise and crosstalk at an absolute minimum. The result: your console is considerably less noisy and crosstalk between neighboring channels is virtually non-existent. The result of perfect design. Almost unmeasurable distortion for your signal integrity.

It does everything I want it to. There is some room for expansion, which is always good. For instance, soon I'll have my own personal stage monitor for my keyboard(s), which would plug into the FX send. For recording, you've still got both your main and control outs. For a personal mixer, it does exactly what you need it to do.

Sound
I'm running an iPod, computer, bass guitar, keyboard, and an acoustic guitar through the UB1202 all to a bass amp, shelf system, and guitar amp, (wired diff. through control outs, main outs, and FX send), They all sound perfect.

Features
A standard power cable would have been nice, instead of the included AC adaptor cable. Also, a peak light on the stereo channels would be useful, and wouldn't take up much space. On the positive side, the phantom power works perfectly, the gain on each mono channel is VERY powerful, which is good for quick volume fixes. Also the choices for where the tape signal goes to (ie main mix, control room, fx, etc) comes in very handy when you want to record just yourself w/out the tape track in the background.

Ease of Use
Since the level controls are knobs instead of faders, I can't give this a 10. If you're like me, and know how to run a mixer, how to troubleshoot, etc, you'll have no problem. But if you're a more visual person, with a basic understanding, all those knobs start looking the same after a while. Overall, all of the read more ins/outs are in logical locations, with room for your fingers, which is very good.

Quality
It's a very solid unit. If you leave it on for a while, it does heat up. The manual says this is usual, so I guess I can't complain about that. I do have one stereo channel however that doesn't turn off completely. I had my iPod running through it, and with the level turned all the way down but the mix turned up, you can still hear it playing. Haven't had this issue on any other channels, so I am fairly confident it's an isolated incident.

Value
For a 12 channel mixer at this price that works this well, it is definitely worth the buy. If you're like I was, constantly walking to your amp(s) to change cables, invest the money to buy this. you'll be glad you did.

The Wow Factor
"Big things come in little packages"... It's rather small, but with the silver color how it is, you might even call it sexy. And if you're a keyboard player, being able to EQ it and send more than one to the same amp should be sex appeal enough...
