Back to the Future: Tube Technology from Behringer
In today's digital world the classic tube sound is experiencing a surprising renaissance. In Behringer's continuing effort to react to your demands, they've integrated a 12AX7 vacuum tube into the Ultragain Pro MIC2200. In doing this they managed to create an effective symbiosis of tradition and innovation, to further develop traditional tube circuitry and adapt it to modern professional audio technology.

The Best is Just Good Enough for You: Behringer's High-End Parametric EQ
Parametric EQs represent the state of the art in equalizer systems. That's why they're the perfect complement for the Ultragain PRO. Behringer's parametric EQ allows you to adjust all filter parameters: center frequency, bandwidth and amplitude. The highly precise state-variable filter allows musical frequency correction as well as creative sound shaping. Frequency switching allows you to sweep the entire frequency range from 10 Hz to 20 kHz for exceptional flexibility.

"Notching out," the precise elimination of problem frequencies for feedback or hum removal without affecting neighboring frequencies, is one of many common and invaluable applications for this EQ.

Behringer Has the Solutions
Be honest: have induced interference or transmission losses due to lengthy cables ever made you want to scream (or worse)?

Here's the answer: the Ultragain Pro's "Direct Inject Box" function permanently commits these deadly effects to history, converting unbalanced instrument signals into clean, balanced signals. Another vital element is the soft mute function for the +48V phantom power, which effectively suppresses switching noises and pampers your microphones, speakers and nerves. Low-frequency signals like impact noise can also deteriorate your audio quality and damage your gear. A switchable low-cut filter with a sweepable range from 15 to 320Hz provides efficient low-frequency attenuation and removal of unwanted noise.

Applications Unlimited: The Ultragain Pro as a Level Converter
The Ultragain Pro provides excellent service when you need to convert home-recording levels (-10dBV) to the professional standard (+4dBu) -- just one more example of its outstanding functionality.

Behringer MIC2200 Ultragain Pro Reviews

"Nice bit of cheap kit."
Feature:
Using the EQ is do-able but not surgical or invisible. The variable req low cut is great. A chain I use alot is; channel 1 for gain and pre compressor eq - into a compressor for de-essing and compression - back into channel 2 for re-gaining and EQ to maximize level for soundcard AD. So even if you want you can get a lot of use out of the two parametric EQs for even one vocal mic.

Quality:
It takes all sorts of beatings, shipped it overseas and around the place, there was one bit of plastic rattling around in there for a while but I opened it and shook it out.

Value:
I bought it a while ago and now it's cheaper to buy new!

Desirability:
Sort of over it now but it was the only pre I used for a while, I'm looking for the next step up. I'd still use it on other gear to get more control on synths and the like.

Sound:
The sound is quiet enough noise wise, and the gain given is smooth but not ultra punchy. I used it for vocals mainly and lately on stereo mixdowns, which I'm not totally convinced on the later. On the subject of the tube - it really is only on the post gain that the tube is employed and the yellow light thing that fades in is just a LED. I've never really heard the tube in that regard.

"Bargain Sonic Improvement"
Used in two different applications.
1. Stereo DI for my keyboard rig. Thought there might be trouble because it has no ground lift, but so far, so good!
2. Preamp/EQ for two acoustic guitars live. Definitely brought more depth, though not necesarilly tube "warmth" to the sound. Still, a nice piece at an absolute bargain price.
