Imagine if you could have an amp with a real vintage sound, but without all the weight and awkwardness of some of the older amps. The Ampeg B100R is just that. It gives you all the vintage sound you can handle with a single 15 in. driver, and Blue Diamond covering gives it the vintage look. But with solid-state design the weight is lower.

The Rocket Bass models (B-100R and B-50R) are the contemporary counterparts to the Portaflex. Still the same warm tone and simplistic controls but using solid-state technology for light weight and maintenance-free reliability. The 100-watt B-100R is equipped with a custom-designed vintage 15 in. and the baby brother 50-watt B-50R employs a vintage 12 in. driver. zZounds is an authorized dealer of Ampeg products.

"True boomer."

Sound: IT has amazing sound, it makes my bass sound much better than the old crate i was using. Everyone was like wow in the room when i fired it up to play. It has great use for the music i play, such as Rock, sometimes funk solos, it is perfect. Feature: No accessories included, but what is there really helps, if u adjust the gain to master volume properly, it helps it sound extremely well. Quality: Just picking it up i said, wow this is awesome. It looks really cool too, the tolex is just sweet. I don't need a back up with this, it would sit around and collect dust forever Value: It is perfectly priced for what features you get. it is wonderful, and i am sure that i will not have anyproblems with it. Manufacturer Support: i haven't had to talk with them, the unit works perfect, no problems ever. The Wow Factor: From the time i pluged in, i was hooked, there was no way i was going home without this amp. Overall: I don't have anyplans to get anything new, but i will say this, when/ if i get a new amp, i will be purhcasing from ampeg again.

"Worth it!"

Sound: It sounds great! I'm a grungy/garage rock type bassist, and it caters to my style. Even at full volume, you won't have to worry about crackling or anything odd. Feature: This does exactly what you want it to do, nothing less, and (not really a bad thing) nothing more. It's got all the familiar options that you would find on any other amp. Ease of Use: I didn't have any problems trying to use the amp. That's saying something, considering I got it without a manual. As long as you know what you're doing and what does what, you'll get the sound you want. Quality: Overall, the amp is pretty well made. On mine, there's a little wear and tear on the handle and cover, but that's partially because of mishandling. It's the kind of amp I could sit there and beat on repeatedly seeing how many hours it would take to break. As other people said, it's built like a tank. Value: You get what you pay for, that's all I really have to say. Manufacturer Support: I haven't dealt with the company, so I scored it in the middle. The Wow Factor: When I first got the amp, it wasn't really into the build of it, but it's grown on me over time. Overall: I play for a band, and expect (and hope) for it to last for a long time. I really don't see any reason for me to have to buy another amp for a couple years.
