Alesis ProLinear 720 Studio Monitor with Digital EQ
The advanced ProLinear DSP is a 120-watt powered two-way speaker that offers increased bass frequency range with more accurate response, increased SPL capacity, lower distortion, and smoother frequency response due to its onboard Integrated DSP Module, which controls the equalization and output level of the speaker. There are two ways to access this control: through the front panel buttons and LCD, or from your PC via the supplied software and the serial port on the rear panel of the speaker. Your PC (Windows) and the Alesis ProLinear DSP software provide you unparalleled flexibility in creating, saving, and managing specific equalization programs and configurations, which you may then recall without ever having to touch the speaker. All this in a single speaker configuration - there's no difference between left and right cabinets, so place them in either location.

Alesis ProLinear 720 DSP Studio Monitor with Digital EQ Reviews

"The best"
Feature:
DSP at the speaker makes all the difference. The 7" wolfer is THE perfect speaker size giving enhanced response of frequencies in the mid-bass (50-500Hz) area. You can model classic monitor coloring and even balance the response degredation of your control rooms natual acoustics.

Quality:
In the initial program mode the monitors are very transparent and offer a premium stereo sound similar to that of the M1 active mk2. After cycling through the preset programs the output variations create a world of versatility. After I heard them I thought I was looking at the wrong ones because the price seemed wrong for the sound.

Value:
These are the essence of "bang-for-your-buck"! If you want an extremly versitle monitor... these are them. They are hard to A/B against other speakers because you can change the sound and respnse on them so drastically.

Desirability:
Look around your studio... if you have a mic with a polar pattern selection, a multi-effects pedel on your guitar, any modern synth workstation or groove box.. you obviously love having versatile equipment and desire more options. This is right up your ally. If you actually have 40+ vintage effects pedals and keyboards... get the dynaudios or genelecs :)

Support:
I havent had any problem with the monitors at all... however, you do need to be somewhat computer-savey if you plan on using a computer to do all the equalization, programming, and volume settings from the pc. If not you can use the front pannel its just a little harder to do from there and the manual is a bit "techy".

Overall:
The quality of the mix is only as good as it's engineer who only can go by what he hears... it's nice to know that if, for what ever reason, the acoustics of my room change or even how im hearing the mix, I can "shift" the response to suit the application at hand.
