Epiphone Worn Dot Studio Electric Guitar

No longer available at zZounds
The Epiphone Worn Dot Studio is a semi-hollow classic. With a pair of uncovered alnico pickups and a raw, worn-style finish, the Epiphone Dot Studio feels great.

A great value in an iconic semi-hollowbody, the Epiphone Dot Studio is a no nonsense tone machine. The simple design distills the classic Dot series down to its very essence to deliver all the vintage jazz flavor in an affordable guitar. Though spartan in its features, the Dot Studio maintains the fundamental feel and tone so cherished by Epiphone semi-hollow enthusiasts. The neck is bit rounder than those most commonly affixed to 335-style guitars, but still affords the comfort needed for those hot jazz licks. The dual humbucker pickups are tightly wound vintage alnicos, which means in addition to bold, jazzy mid-range, you also get a rock bite that sounds great when run through a distortion channel or pedal.

Features:

- Laminated mahogany body providing full, bright character
- Comfortable set mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard
- Attractive faded finishes highlight grain of top wood
- Dual open alnico humbuckers provide rich tones with plenty of rock-worthy edge
- Distinctive black hardware
- Epiphone limited lifetime warranty with 24/7/365 customer service

If you've always dreamed of owning a semi-hollowbody, the Epiphone Dot studio is an outstanding value on an iconic model.

I keep guitars in the 'forever' category. I never sell, although I have given a few away. But I think I'll be keeping this one for a LONG time.

Sound
I love my new Epiphone DOT Studio. As a rhythm guitarist, I appreciate the warm and full-bodied tone; yet it still has the ability to cut through to deliver leads and melody lines. I had been looking at a Taylor T5, at about six times the price. But this is comparable in both tone and playability. I couldn't be happier with this purchase decision.

Features
The guitar has dual humbucker pickups, 1 three position switch, a single tone control and a single volume control. I love it for it's simplicity, but I could see where some players might want more versatility. Fr the kind of playing I do, it's not an issue.

Ease of Use
The playability of this guitar is amazing, and the adjustable bridge leads me to believe it could be set up to suit anyone's preferences. The neck is just a little wider than a typical electric - more like an acoustic guitar, but it is not as thick, so it's real easy to play.

Quality
The fit and finish have a rich look and feel. The guitar was unblemished. The hardware feels solid and well made. A friend had suggested changing the tuners before he even saw the guitar, as he said typically, lower priced guitars skimp on decent tuners, so I was prepared to do that if needed. Now that I've had read more the guitar for about sic weeks. I'm fine with the tuners. The guitar holds its tune really well, and tuning is easy.

Value
I should have paid at least twice as much for what I received. I could not be happier with the value of this purchase. I usually don't buy a guitar without playing it first, so I was nervous about the purchase. I based my decision on the user product ratings - which were very positive, so I took a chance. I'm more than pleased!

Manufacturer Support
I haven't had any issues since receiving the guitar, but the support for the sale was excellent and very responsive. I used the price match guarantee - it was simple, easy and very timely with responses.

The Wow Factor
I got the Worn Vintage Sunburst, and I love the looks. I love the understatement of the piece. I love handing this ax over to guys who have Les Pauls, ES-335s and the like and watch them drool. Some of them have paid 10 times what I paid - and they LOVE this guitar.
