Take Home Every Amp and Cabinet In The Store
Digital guitar amp modeling is opening up worlds of new possibilities for musicians today, just the way electric guitars themselves did in the 1950s.

Only a few years ago, if you wanted the number and variety of guitar sounds you get from digital modeling on stage, you would have needed a whole floor full of pedals, several different amp heads, and so many different cabinets that you could never fit them all on one stage. You'd also need some trucks to transport them, and a place to keep them all between gigs. You'd probably need a master's degree in engineering to get them all to work they way you wanted them to, and switching between tones would be a time consuming, frustrating process. After you'd dealt with all this, how much energy would you have left for actually playing the show?

But the master inventors at Line 6 have been changing the game for over a decade. Not long ago, amps, pedals, and software that changed your guitar sound digitally might have been fun to play with, but the thin sounds were not ready for the big leagues. Those days are over. The guitar sound on the last great song you heard on the radio might well have been created with digital amp modeling. And there's a good chance that the last arena show you saw featured a band using digital modeling to get their guitar sounds, too.

With the PodXT Live, you can get an entire fleet of professional pedal effects, tones, and much more--the sounds of virtually every read more great amp and cabinet combo in rock history and more--from one easy-to-use, gig-ready device. Whether you use the PodXT as a preamp, a versatile pedal, a means of getting that one sound you always dreamed of on stage, or an elegant solution for direct guitar recording, the rugged Line 6 PodXT Live is ready for action.

The Pedal Of Tomorrow--Today!
Simply put, the PodXT Live is like an old-fashioned effects pedal: plug your guitar in, step on the pedal, and the sound changes. However, this pedal gives you far more options than a traditional pedal. You get to choose from any of 36 the amplifier models, more than 20 cabinet models, and 4 microphone models, each of which can be combined, giving you an incredibly broad tonal palette to explore, plus 80 hand-picked stompbox and studio effects that can be applied to those tones. Now, just imagine stacking 80 stompboxes on your pedalboard. Even if you could fit it on the stage, are your Twister skills really good enough that you could put it to use? With the PodXT Live, you get all this in a convenient, gig-ready format. It has a generous, readable, backlit display, making it easy to see what you're doing on the darkest of stages.

Save Your Sounds--And Build More
The PodXT provides 128 presets, delivering more amp, cabinet, and effects chains that you'll probably ever need on stage at one time, instantly switchable with the tap of your foot. If the included presets aren't what you're looking for, they can easily be tweaked or replaced by presets of your own, and there's a vast online library of professionally programmed, easy-to-download tones from some of the greatest songs and bands in history. Want to get that "Master of Puppets" sound? You can dig up an old Guitar World in which Kirk Hammett tells the exact combination of pedals, amps, cabinets and microphones he used, and then buy all that gear yourself, but it'll be an awful lot easier (not to mention cheaper) just to download the "Master of Puppets" tone to your PodXT Live and call it up whenever the mood strikes. Why not see how it would have sounded if Kirk had used a different cabinet while you're at it? It's a button-push away.

Tweakabilitus Maximus
If you're digging the patch you have called up, but want to turn off the phaser when you get to the chorus, you can switch over to stompbox mode and the XT Live functions just like a pedalboard. Now, instead of changing the entire patch when you step on a switch, you can independently trigger any of the effects in the signal chain. Switch out of stompbox mode and you're back to calling up presets. Pretty simple. For additional sound-sculpting on-the-fly, a combination wah/volume/tweak pedal lets you alter the character of virtually anything in your signal chain. There's an additional expression pedal input as well, if you need even more control. Want to sync your delay to the drummer's groove, but haven't the foggiest idea how many milliseconds you need? Don't feel bad, neither does your drummer. Just hit the tap-tempo switch in time with the beat, and your delay will be right where you want it. This switch can also trigger the tuner, keeping you on-pitch all the time. The sound is automatically muted when the tuner is on, so the gig flows on with no awkward interruptions. Tune while the frontman is engaged in some witty banter, and the crowd will be none the wiser. We mentioned the backlit display, right? Tuning is a snap.

Plug It In, Plug It In
There are about as many ways to set up a stage rig as there are guitar players, so Line 6 makes it super simple to get connected. First, the guitar input has a selectable pad and adjustable level so it can handle the hottest pickups and high-output stompboxes (not that you need them). From there, you can run the PodXT Live pedalboard-style, between your guitar and amp. If you want to get a little crazier, run the 1/4-inch stereo outputs into two separate amps and set them up across the stage for monstrous ping-pong delay effects. You can also run the XT Live into your effects loop if your amp has one. With all the amp modeling capabilities on board, you may not even need a traditional amp. Use it as your front end, connecting straight into a power amp and out to a cabinet. If you want more control over the stage mix, you can also connect the XT Live direct to your PA system. Remember the monstrous ping-pong delay reference? You can also set this up across the Front of House mains with a stereo or two-track input on your PA mixer. Just make sure you have enough monitors, because otherwise you'll miss the stage volume. With the tone this thing delivers, no one wants that! For personal jamming and practice sessions, the headphone output lets you crank it up without waking the neighbors. Connect your CD/MP3 player via the aux input, and you're rocking along to your favorite tunes. The aux input is also great for drum machines, kicking the typical metronome woodshed sessions up a few notches. Onboard MIDI connectivity lets you sync up with a ton of outboard gear, and the USB2.0 port is great for adding new patches to the PodXT Live and deeper editing of patches from your computer with downloadable software from Line 6's website.

Built For The Road--But a Wonder in the Studio
Sure, "Live" is in the name, but the XT is a dream in the studio as well. It's hard to beat the sound of a traditional "close mic" guitar recording technique, but it's not without its drawbacks. First, you typically need to crank your amp way up to get the sound you're looking for, and that can be a real problem for home and project studios. Your neighbors aren't always willing to suffer for your art like you are. Second, as you may have heard, microphones pick up sound. Not just amp sounds, unfortunately, but the hum of your refrigerator, passing cars, jets flying overhead, your significant other popping in every few minutes to ask "are you finished yet?", and anything else that can ruin an otherwise useable take. With the PodXT Live, you can record direct, eliminating the excessive volume and all-hearing microphone problems, without sacrificing any of the tone. Remember, the signal chain includes models for amps, cabinets, and microphones, so you're simulating the close mic process without all the pitfalls. You can even adjust the mic placement (on/off axis) and distance from the virtual speaker, letting you experiment to get just the sound you're looking for. You'll get pristine guitar tracks in a fraction of the time, and without all the headaches.

The Sound is Out There
Somewhere in the universe is the next sound that will take the world by storm. No one's ever heard anything quite like it before, but as soon as we do, we'll wonder how rock and roll got by without it. Whatever that sound turns out to be, it's hiding somewhere inside of the PodXT Live. Find it, and make it your own.

You'll have the tonal heritage of the past century all down on the floor and ready to roll when you are. From models of classic stompboxes, amps, cabs, and mics, to studio effects and synth filters, PODXT Live combines pro features and tones in one rugged, stage-ready package.

Features
PODXT Live is an uncomplicated, gig-ready tone machine that's portable and adaptable to different real world stage and recording environments. PODXT Live can be used as the ultimate multi-effects pedal in front of any guitar amp, as a complete direct PA solution, or as the world-standard guitar recording workhorse in the studio.

At the center of PODXT Live is an incredible gathering of over 80 must-have stompbox and studio effects models. This handpicked collection of hits from the award-winning PODxt, stompbox modelers and Vetta II will give you rich and deliciously detailed tones at the touch of a footswitch. Effects can be positioned in front (stompbox-style) and behind (studio-post) the Amp and Cab models, giving you organic and dynamic tones normally available in only the most high-end guitar stage rigs.

Based on the most prized amplifiers in the history of guitar, PODXT Live features 36 classic and modern amp models and 24 cab models, all run through 4 incredibly precise and dynamic microphone model options to provide a complete tonal palette for any type of live gig or studio session. This amazing collection of Line 6 Amp Models has been used on countless hit recordings and tours and is now on the floor at your disposal.

PODXT Live has 128 presets ready for instant recall via large, stage-ready channel footswitches. They come pre-programmed with a set of sounds to run in front of an amp, and another set for direct recording. Plus there's the vast online tone library with thousands of tones professionally programmed to nail the signature sounds of the greatest guitarists, bands, songs and gear of all time.

Features also include a large backlit display, dedicated stompbox on/off switches, combination wah/volume/tweak pedal, tap tempo/tuner switch, an expression pedal input, stereo 1/4-inch analog outs to feed an amp or line inputs, headphone out, aux input for your CD/MP3 player or drum machine, MIDI, and USB computer connectivity for digital I/O, plus deep editing using the free, downloadable Line 6 Edit or GuitarPort software.

PODXT Live of course has a standard analog guitar input - with a selectable pad and adjustable level to handle even super hot active pickup outputs and high output level stompboxes. But there's also a Variax guitar digital connection. Now a Variax's collection of acoustic and electric guitar models, plus PODXT Live's assortment of amps, cabs, and effects can ALL be instantly transformed into virtually any guitar-effect-amp rig with just the press of a footswitch.

POD is the world standard for guitar tone in studios around the world, and with PODXT Live, you can have total control of that history making tone at your feet.

Effects
PODXT Live crams in the same collection of sought-after models of classic stompbox and studio effects that powers the world-standard PODxt. But that's not all. You also get the FX Junkie Model Pack pre-installed and ready to go. That's a collection of over 80 effect models, using technology from Line 6's flagship Vetta II amplifier and stompboxes, giving you the freedom to go from mellow tube drive to synth filter madness.

But what fun are a bunch of effects if you can't wire them up in bizarre and unusual ways? Fortunately, with PODXT Live, you can. Its flexible routing lets you mix and match up to 8 marvelous effects simultaneously. When using an amp model, you can even choose to put some PRE, and some POST. Now you're on fire!

I / O
PODXT Live has a simple, gig-ready setup that's adaptable to all your different stage and studio needs. Whether you're running it as a multi-effect pedal in front of a guitar amp (or into its FX loop), or straight to the house PA, PODXT Live is the best way to take total control of your sound at the gig.

USB - PODXT Live's USB jack lets you connect to most computers and record directly to a wide variety of popular recording software packages.Line6 has even included a USB cable for use with Windows operating system based GuitarPort software, Line 6 Edit software (for both OS X and Windows operating systems), Line6's CustomTone online tone library, and PODXT Live driver software. All this software - along with directions for using it - is free for you to download at Line6's website.

Variax - Connect a Line 6 Variax guitar here and experience a whole new world of possibility and sound-control power. In addition to a direct digital audio connection between the guitar and PODXT Live, you can even have the Variax change guitars, pickups, and tone control settings each time you choose a new channel from your PODXT Live 's footswitches.

MIDI In & Out - Connect PODXT Live to your MIDI equipment to select Channel Memories (via Program Change messages), or automate PODXT Live settings (via controllers and/or SySex). You can also use MIDI (or USB) to communicate with the free Line 6 Edit software downloadable from Line6's website.

Phones - When you want to listen with headphones, plug them in here. PODXT Live automatically switches to Studio Mode whenever headphones are connected.

Output To Amp/Line - The unbalanced 1/4-inch connectors get your PODXT Live's sound to a guitar amplifier, recorder, mixer or PA system. Flick the rear panel switch to AMP when you've got your PODXT Live feeding into the front of a guitar amp, or choose LINE to send you signal to a mixer or PA. The rear panel LEVEL knob sets the - you guessed it! - output level. Changing the OUTPUT level does not change your tone, so you can get the tone you want at any volume level.

Aux Input - Connect a CD player, MP3 player, drum machine, virtual accordion, or other device here, and you'll hear it at PODXT Live's headphone and Amp/Line outputs. Very handy for jamming along!

Input - Your guitar goes here. Set the switch to norm for use with most passive pickup guitars. If you have to put two 9-volt batteries in your guitar to make it shred, point your guitar down and use that 'shark' headstock to flip the switch to pad. (Also handy for those stompboxes that have ridiculously hot output levels.)

Pedal 2 - You can add even more real-time control by connecting a standard expression pedal, such as the Line 6 EX-1. You'll be able to control Wah, Volume, and Tweak functions all at the same time.

Stage
When you're playing on stage with PODXT Live, you've got a choice of setup modes. You can plug your PODXT Live in between your guitar and guitar amplifier so PODXT Live acts as the ultimate tone shaping, effects modeling pedalboard.

You can plug straight out of PODXT Live's outputs into the house system for awesome amp and effect tone without the hassle of mics and cabinets.

Or you can choose to run PODXT Live into a power amp and speaker cabinets (or into your amp's FX return), using it as the ultimate preamp. Whichever setup you choose, PODXT Live can dial you in like a pro.

What are you connecting to?
You can supply your PODXT Live with one of three answers to this question, thereby ensuring that your friend on the floor gives you the best possible tones.

STUDIO DIRECT - When plugging PODXT Live straight into a P.A., or using in-ear monitoring systems, STUDIO DIRECT gives you amazing amp and effect tone, night after night. Line 6 exclusive A.I.R. II processing serves up a virtual speaker-cabinet-air-microphone experience so good you may never use a regular guitar amplifier and microphone on stage again. You're as powerful as the entire P.A. and guaranteed to be in the mix!

Combo FRONT, Combo PWRAMP, Stack FRONT & Stack PWRAMP-Choose one of these modes when you're plugging your PODXT Live into another guitar amp, or a power amp and guitar speakers. When you're running Amp Modeling in your PODXT Live with one of these modes activated, the Mic and Room components of A.I.R. II are turned off, and the Cabinet Models are revoiced to sound their best coming through the kind of speaker you choose. The 'Pwramp' variations should be used when you're running straight into a power amp driving speakers, or running into the effect return of an amp so that its own preamp is bypassed and you're getting your PODXT Live's signal right to the power amp section. Choose a 'Front' variation when you're plugging into the front of a combo amp or head, which will also run you through that amp's preamp section. The two 'Front' modes also give you Tone Correction controls.

What is Tone Correction

The idea of these Tone Correction controls is to adjust PODXT Live 's overall sound to compensate for the tonal response of the preamp section of the amp that you're plugging into. Line6 has found that it is often necessary to reduce the low frequency or high frequency contents of the PODXT Live to get the best results in this sort of a configuration, or shift the focus of the mid frequencies, so that's what these controls are set to do.

Plus...

Bose PS1-Choose this when plugging into a Bose PS1 Cylindrical RadiatorTM loudspeaker system. Line 6 specially tuned this mode for great sound from the innovative new sound system that you can learn more about from the Bose website.

Studio Direct Mode
In this mode, Line 6's exclusive A.I.R. II DSP is active, and you are treated to a virtual speaker-cabinet-air-microphone experience that's so good, you may never use a regular guitar amplifier and microphone setup again.

When you plug your headphones into PODXT Live, DEST will be automatically set to STUDIO DIRECT, giving you the best tone for private jamming.

Variax
The Variax line of guitars is unique, thanks to Line 6 modeling technology that gives you a whole collection of guitars in one single instrument. If you're a lucky Variax owner, you'll want to take advantage of PODXT Live 's rear panel digital VARIAX input jack.

When you plug your Variax into PODxt Live using the Variax Digital Input Cable, that single cable supplies power to the Variax, digitally sends audio from your Variax to the PODxt, and allows you to automate Variax patch changes with the foot controls of PODXT Live. Once plugged in, tell PODXT Live whether you'd like it to control the Variax. When control is enabled, PODXT Live can change Variax models as you change PODXT Live channels. Now you can seamlessly integrate a Variax's collection of acoustic and electric guitar models with PODXT Live's amps, cabs, and effects. This entire setup can be instantly transformed into virtually any rig with just the press of a single footswitch.

But wait, there's more! Now you really CAN enjoy the best of both worlds, because you can have a standard analog guitar and your digital Variax plugged into PODXT Live at the same time, and both will work. That makes switching between the two as easy as rolling the volume knob off on one, and rolling the volume knob up on the other. And you thought this new technology stuff was going to be tricky to use...

Tuner
Tap (Hold/Tuner) - PODXT Live lets you control the time and speed of your effects by simply tapping on this button. To use the TAP control, just tap the button at the tempo you want and the effects will change to match what you tapped.

But wait, that's not all. Hold the footswitch for about 2 seconds and bling, bling: Instant digital chromatic tuner! Play a note on your guitar and PODXT Live will show you what it is - and whether it's in tune - on that handy display.

Tuner Bypass/Volume - Normally, the audio will be muted while you're tuning, but if you prefer to hear yourself tune, you can turn the bypass audio feature off.

Tuner Reference - Want a different reference than A = 440Hz PODXT Live lets you set the reference frequency anywhere from 430-450 Hz. This setting is also stored so you don't have to reset it every time you power up.

Tuner Features- Precision Chromatic Tuning
- Audio Mute
- Hands-free Operation
- Selectable Reference from 430-450HZ
