Feature:
The features are good. It's pretty much layed out just like a real turntable, but with efx's and looping. The 80gig hard drive is icing on the cake. Will def make you a more organized DJ. I do wish the efx's had wet/dry knob, but I understand that this is for vinyl DJs moving into the digital world, but still want close ties back to the analog world. So it's more about the vinyl emulation which it does extremely well.
Quality:
I am a previous CDX owner and can say without a doubt that Numark improved the quality tremendously. The main issues with the CDX were bad software build and a poor quality CD drive. The HDX has a newer faster DVD drive that's reads audio from DVD as well as CD. The newer software that is bundled with the Gracenote database is simply awesome. I haven't had any glitches or lockups and every disc I used has worked with no problems. All my MP3s play with no issues or hiccups (I've loaded 6000+ MP3s to date).
Value:
For what it has provided for my Mobile business (Organization, portability, quality product, cutting edge technology), I feel it's worth every penny I spent on both HDXs. I've had them both for about 4 months now and feel I've made a great business purchase.
Desirability:
I find the HDX to be very visually appealing. I've purchased a Mackie d.2 mixer and must admit, this is one handsome setup.
Sound:
The sound is excellent. Very clear and concise whether it be MP3, CD or DVD. The vinyl emulation of scratching is the best I've heard of any digital deck (and I've owned Pio, Den and Techs).
Ease of Use:
I figured out how to use everything in a short amount of time. The searching function of the database is very straightforward and using the other features like record and ripping was a piece of cake. Efx's were easy to use also.
Support:
Numark has excellent support and even though I had many problems with my older CDX, the support was one of the bright spots.
Overall:
The HDX is a great achievement from Numark. Right now, there's nothing that compares to it. And the vinyl emulation is unreal technology. Coupled with an 80gig hard drive and awesome software, this deck rocks big time. I do wish Numark would provide an upgrade for better, tighter pitch %. Also it would be nice to have multiple hot starts and a wet/dry adjust. But that does not take away from how special this deck is. Few more upgrades and it could be a perfect 10.
