In an effort to jump start the steadily declining sales of the Les Paul Model, Gibson abandoned the familiar gold finish and used a translucent, cherry sunburst finish which showed off the figured maple tops that were often used on Les Pauls. The renamed Les Paul Standard made its debut in 1958. Now part of Gibson's proprietary new Vintage Original Spec series -- the next step in their journey toward perfection. Learn More...

"one damn sexy guitar."

Feature:
i thought the materials were top of the line.

Quality:
i didn't inspect it to well but all i can say is that i see pictures of this guitar in catalogs and hanging up at guitar stores and i can almost say i am sexually attracted to this guitar.

Value:
personally i think the price is a bit outrageous, it's just like a perfected paul. the price is exaggerated.

Desirability:
sex appeal- 500000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000%.

Sound:
i think this is an awsome guitar. has a nice crisp sound and characterizes fat. sounds great with distortion and warm and full with both clean and distorted tones. i would love to own one of these guitars. i might be a little afraid to take it to a live show but i'd have to get over that.

Support:
no. but i hear great things so i'll put 10

Overall:
well i can't help looking at other stuff but this would always be one of my main axes.. If i could ever afford it.

In an effort to jump start the steadily declining sales of the Les Paul Model, Gibson decided to abandon the familiar gold finish and use a translucent, cherry sunburst finish which would show off the highly figured maple tops that were often used on Les Pauls. The renamed Les Paul Standard made its debut in 1958. Features include an early '50s rounded neck with a 22-fret Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard, Burstbucker humbuckers, an ABR-1 bridge with an aluminum stopbar, vintage tulip tuners and a Custom Shop case.

Historic Collection - Solidbody Series
Whether you're looking for an exact replica of the Les Paul that your guitar hero made famous or you're simply looking for an SG that's "built like they used to be," the entire line of Historic Les Paul Reissues is built exactly like they were in the '50s and '60s.
