"Incredibly Beautiful and Hottttt!!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)

I'm a gearhead so I'll buy other guitars. This one will stay up there on my quality list. I do like to play on different necks. I'd replace this guitar in a heartbeat if something were to happen to it. I like everything about and there's nothing else I'd like to see in this instrument. I have lots of guitars from which to choose and I always return to the Les Paul when I'm looking for a smoking sound.
Sound
Absolutely gorgeous guitar. Sounds incredible through my Egnater head and custom made cab. Cleans up really well and is extremely expressive. Pinch harmonics are incredibly easy with overdrive and the cleans are crytal clear. I would not take this axe to bar gigs because I don't want anything to happen to it - I'd be crushed!! It's going with me only on the premium gigs. The pickups are superb and it plays beautifully right out of the case. I love this guitar!!
Features
Nice case. The gold hardware really stands out on this finish and complements it very well. I wouldn't change or add anything to this axe. They got this one right.
Ease of Use
Plays beautifully and sounds incredible. Turn it up and rock and roll. This guitar epitomizes rock music.
Quality
Built to last, my fireburst is one of my favorites. This is my fifth Les Paul. I own 38 guitars and I would rank this 3rd.
Value
I'd buy this guitar again. For a studio it is well worth the money. I have other studio LPs and paid less but they are nothing like this axe.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't needed company support. No upgrades necessary. I put on strrap locks but that's it.
The Wow Factor
You know it's quality when you look at it. When you pick it up and play it you will confirm that fact. It's beautiful!

"The way a guitar is supposed to be."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
I'm keeping this forever. I would indeed buy another and may buy another. These guitars are attractive on a subconscious level as well as a conscious level. I'd like to have 10 of them. This guitar actually FELT better than the $2200.00+ guitars...therefor I was happy to see that it was a lot cheaper...I also couldn't find any medium-level flaws in it (only very minor) and I can't say that for the more expensive guitars.
Sound
The tone of this guitar is classic. That means it will never go out of style and in fact had a large part in inventing the style. It is full and inspiring. Exactly what I have always expected. Straight into a tube amp this thing is a killer. My particular amp is the Traynor Custom Valve 40 WR. Fantastic combination.
Features
The tuners are high grade as is the finish. The features on the guitar itself are exactly what one expects when one purchases a Gibson. Nice warranty. Even the case that comes with this guitar is fantastic...sturdy and very well made-nice on the inside to protect the guitar along with a 'topsheet'.
Quality
I can notice some small blade marks (from saws I assume) and some minor imperfections in the finish but nothing that stands right out...unlike some of the models that I tried with bound fingerboards where I could see the sloppy filing marks everywhere.
Value
As far as I am concerned this guitar is worth its price. I have 3 guitars which were all over $1300.00 including this one and it is worth the money. I tried a few other guitars that were much more expensive and some that were not as expensive and this guitar won out over the rest...a close second was the Smartwood Les Paul...I didn't rate it as a 10 in this category because there is always room for better value and some people get lucky with a great guitar for very little...
Manufacturer Support
No contact...no comment.
The Wow Factor
This guitar was a purely hedonistic purchase for me. I wanted a Gibson since I was 17 and had the means to do it but never did. I went for it after playing this Les Paul Studio...It has pure appeal...

"The Gibson Les Paul Studio is the "Benchmark""

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Can't imagine a more satifying guitar to own and I own several. Just glad to have this guitar.
Sound
Only a Gibson Les Paul has this sound. The 490/498 pickups are a standard for the rest.
Features
All you'll ever need. This is a quality instrument and on close inspection you understand why Gibson has such a great reputation.
Quality
Treat it kindly, and it will keep a great finish forever. If you abuse this instrument you should be punished.
Value
The Gibson Les Paul Studio is the best value in A Gibson Les Paul model. It is a benchmark sort of thing and this represents an excellent investment.
Manufacturer Support
Don't really know but Gibson is Gibson after all.
The Wow Factor
I bought the wine red with gold hardware. Might have liked the solid black but this thing is just beautiful. It is eye candy.

One of the prettiest guitars I have ever owne or will own. I had been playing a real noisy Fender Tornado. I could not fix the Mex electronics on it without replacing everything. So I opted to purchase this studio LP. It was so quiet when I plugged her in it almost brought tears to my eyes!I changed the strings to Elixirs same gauge .010 and they sound great. I lowered the 1st four strings and I will continue to play with this.I am still adjusting pic-ups when I play, but the tone of the pic-ups is more adjustable then the Fender ones. They put out a fantastic tone. The Studio LP is American made, where has she been al my life!

Best buy in along time for me. Fast efficient service and very good follow up on the order. I will be buying from zZounds in the future. The only problem I have is the Les Paul is overpowering my current amp and now I will need to upgrade. I plan on doing that as soon as I have the Gibson paid off.

"Gibson Les Paul Studio in Alpine White"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
My only complaint about the product is that, when I ordered the guitar in white I was promised an ebony fretboard and was surprised when I received it in rosewood. I called ZZounds and was told that the manufacturer was no longer producing the studio in white with the ebony fretboard. They were incredibly helpful and offered any support I could need. I decided to keep the guitar, however, as the tone, playability and feel of the guitar itself are amazing. I simply had the fretboard dyed black. three shades of wood dye did the trick, at the time of getting it set up. I find that the rosewood tone suits better the goal for getting the guitar, to round out my tonal capacity against my Fender strat which has a maple fretboard. The finish and carved top are delightful and masterfully well-made. The guitar also stays in tune better than a Les Paul Junior I used to own a while back. The chambering of the body makes it much lighter than other Les Pauls I've played and I find it easier to jump around on stage with it if I am playing any sort of music which facilitates on-stage foolery. TL;DR, amazing guitar. Love it. Especially the chambered body making it a bit lighter than other Les Pauls.

"A gift from the guitar angels up in heaven."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I am satisfied with this thing. This is my life guitar. I polish it once a week, play it for two hours every day, get it checked out every month. The case is nice with its thick leather handle and there is a cobination lock on it so nobody messes with your guitar. The finish, the body, the neck and pick-ups are great and I have not changed a thing. It's a modern classic. ure beauty. Absolutley stunning.
Sound
The sound is killer. Very bassy and deep and full and warm and rich. There is no other way to describe this sound. Perfect for you indie-lock and alternative fans and classic rock. Just add reverb to this thing and it sounds amazing! I play jazz and this thing can sound very lovely clean. This thing is meant to rock out.
Features
The tone and volume knobs are easy to use, the pick-ups are fantastic and the toggle switch gave me no problems at all. When I buy this guitar, I will change nothing because it is already a A+ in my book.
Ease of Use
Everything is easy to use. I have not had a problem with the control knobs or the toggle switch or neck or tuners or pick-ups. Everything looks fine and sounds great. The neck is especialy comfortable and I can get around it easily. There is a lot of sustain on the neck.
Quality
This thing lasts. I've had this guitar for two years now and the wood and the neck do not bend or crush under the amount of times I play this thing. The pick-ups never lost their vibe. They are still warm. Very durable. I take very good care of this guitar and the finish doesn't come off.
Value
Everything here is 110% of what I need. I have never owned another guitar.
The Wow Factor
Very sexy. I have the wine red with the gold hardware finish. Jaws drop every time my jazz band has a concert. When I solo the whole crowd just pops their eyes out over this beauty. The light relfects it and the gold shines and the deep red captivates the attention of everyone. And after the concert, many people my own age will complement how much the guitar shines and how amazing it looks. Not to forget that this thing is the most comfortable guitar I have ever played.

Sound
This is truly an amazing guitar
Features
The Standard and Classic have a plastic binding. I have played all three the Studio and the Classic as well as the Standard. I own the Studio and I have found that it is a better sound than the ones with a plastic binding. Why pay an extra 7 bills for a piece of plastic.
Quality
Gibson is a Pride based business. They only make quality.

This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
I've gone through a lot of guitars over the years and while there were some that I was sad to let go I'm not sure I'd get over losing this one. I'd have to replace it if it were stolen or lost in some other way. Not sure I'd want to be buried with a guitar but if I did this one would definately be one of the ones in the casket (I wouldn't pick just one, are you kidding me?!?) So far I haven't had to replace frets on an instrument but I would definatly keep this one in well-playing condition and if that meant getting a fret job or a refinish (wait, folks like that whole relic look now...) then I'd do it. I love that classic single-coil tone of my Strats but they can't do the power like the 'buckers. This Les Paul covers that area in every way I can think of. Every guitarists should have at least one Strat and one Les Paul.
Sound
This guitar is everything I knew it would be. It's my first Gibson but I've had a few Epiphones. I've been playing for about 16 years now but it took a while to finally get into Gibson territory. The Epiphones are good guitars but Gibson is where it's at once you can afford it. The pickups are fabulous. I have no idea why people automatically go for a swap for the aftermarket pups. Every sound you've ever wanted to evoke from a Les Paul is here in the Studio. It's a straight up Les Paul, just >>Les
Features
It would have been nice if the guitar came with a strap and maybe some allen keys. But most anyone has those taken care of anyway. The case is wonderful. I love the snake skin look with the Gibson logo. The latches are quality and the guitar is very well protected inside. I was a little skeptical about the whole "chambered" thing but they did it right. All the Les Paul sound is there, just in a lighter package. The body resonates beautifully and I'm sure the chambered body lends to the sound even more so. I think the sustain might suffer a little but I doubt most folks would even notice. The "green key" tuners, while not really all that "green", do work wonderfully. The stringing job was crap from the factory as there were only a couple winds of string on the posts which caused tuning issues. I strung it up with my favorites, the right way, and the tuning is as stable as anything and I'm really impressed. I bought the "Blemished" option. I noticed the blemishes but I'm almost certain it was a factory problem, only barely on the surface and if I cared I could have them buffed out. Looked like scuffs from a sander or a bad buffing job with missed areas. The spots aren't noticable unless you look for them. I guess for the picky player it might have been enough to return it but I'm not letting this thing go for anything.
Ease of Use
I've been a Strat guy for a long time, only playing a Les Paul on occassion. I was tired of trying to make my Strats sound like a Les Paul (which I didn't realize I was doing until later) so I broke down and got this. I took a chance and ordered it off the web without ever playing it. I don't know all things "Gibson" but I'm pretty sure the necks are hand-sanded so it's possible to find the variations in neck shape and feel. Thankfully, the neck on mine was perfect. Very comfortable, and this is coming from a Strat guy so that should mean something. The chambered body is nice for the weight relief too. I've played live several times using this guitar and I've never been uncomfortable, standing for a couple of hours are a time.
Quality
The guitar is a solid build but the factory probably overlooked some things; nothing that really affects anything important though. It could have used a more critical eye in the R&D department but maybe it was a Friday-at-4:45pm kind of job? The minor blemishes aside - the finish is amazing. The paint job is gorgeous and all the components are top-notch quality. Even the strap buttons were quality. I did replace them with strap locks but that was just a personal preference. My one dig, and this might just be me, is that the pickup selector switch is too easily engaged from on position to the next. Just a slight bump from a hand and you'll switch the pickup. I've never had that problem with the Epiphones. The upside though would be the ability for quick pickup switches, like going from the neck and flipping to the bridge in a hurry for some solo work. So...maybe it's just me and the switch is supposed to have thay much play in it? Whatever. About the paint job, like I said before, the Epiphones are nice but compared to this it's like they have kids spray-painting the Epis while the pros finish the Gibsons. The frets were well dressed and the nut, being Plek slotted, is perfect. Somefolks complain about the finish on the neck being sticky. The more you play the guitar the less that seems to matter. I noticed it when I first started using the guitar but I don't even notice it anymore. I could never imagine taking sand-paper to this beautiful guitar. The paint job was done in a way that matters. The manual explains a little about the finish on these guitars and when you figure it out...it's almost like a living being unto itself.
Value
I paid a little less for the "Blemished" option and it's worth every penny. I would have gladly paid full-price, or even a little more, for a new one. This guitar is an investment and I understand why the Gibson Les Paul has held such a high position over the past 50+ years.
Manufacturer Support
I have not yet dealt with Gibson so I can't really answer here. Zzounds though - that's good service!
The Wow Factor
When the guitar arrived I was so excited that I practically ripped the box open to get it out. When I finally got it out and opened the case however, I was forced to pause. When I opened the case it was like the angels started singing and God smiled. I'm pretty sure my jaw dropped and I just stared at the guitar. I didn't even want to touch it for the first few minutes (boy am I glad I got over that!). I got the "Fireburst" finish with the Chrome. Absolutely gorgeous. A buddy of mine has the Wine Red with the Gold and even he was impressed with this finish. The maple top just pops out, almost glowing, and the burst effect is striking. The inlays are beautiful too and the application was perfect. Even the headstock is beautiful. Even though it's not the fancy mother-of-pearl logo it's still very cool. I love my Fender guitars and I've loved the Epiphones I've had in the past but the finish and look of this guitar pretty much leaves the others outside the dressing room, waiting for a cucumber sandwhich and tap water.

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars

any guitarist will always want to find that "perfect sound" he or she may be looking for, i think that my gibson meets most of my needs herein, but you can't say that you will never buy any other kind or style. it all depends on the events of your life, but i will say that it is the best for me right now.
Sound
one of the best sounding guitars i've ever played. if anyone has doubts about the versatility of this guitar, watch jimmy page and led zeppelin - live at knebworth in their last performance together as a band.
Features
the humbuckers compliment each other extraordinarily, and the '59 neck is very comfortable to play.
Quality
the studio i own is as well put together as my martin d-16-gt in every way. i never have had any trouble with anything but strings...as you will with any guitar.
Value
i have played alot of "inexpensive" guitars, and would never trade the sound and feel of my studio for the affordability of an inferior guitar
Manufacturer Support

"My Les Paul"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
Plays great distorted, as well as clean.
Features
This guitar doesn't really need accessories, however, a cleaning kit and an extra set of strings would be great.
Ease of Use
It is easy and fun to get the type of sound you need from this guitar. It's pretty much what Gibson is known for.
Quality
It was well made, but there was a buss on the low E string when I got it.
The Wow Factor
Just about every Gibson guitar has it's own style, look, and appeal. The Les Paul has to be the best of the brand.

"THE GOD OF GUITARS"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

I think ill be keeping this guitar for a long long time before i get another guitar. The next time i buy a guitar it will be for my unborn child.
Sound
I have had this guitar for aboput five months and it is about the greatest guitar i have used. The sound of the 490s is so great. i use the guitar with effects pedals and can play everything from clapton to van halen and it sounds really good for eruption
Features
this guitar has some great features like the angled headstock and the stopbar tailpiece. I love it because the controls are great to make different sounds because each pickup has its own volume and tone knob. You can switch between rythym and leads without pedals and get some cool tricks with it.
Ease of Use
Very easy. All you have to do is set the volume and tone all the way and youll get a good sound or if you like custom sounds you can change it. It is not as heavy as other les pauls too because of the chambered body
Quality
The quality of the guitar is incredible. There is a nitrocellulose finish that lets the guitar age naturally. I have hit it against this table like a thousand times and not even a scratch. I think i will have this guitar for many years to come because there really is no use for another guitar.
Value
Yes the product is selling fast and its really cheap here.
Manufacturer Support
I havent had to deal with support yet. I know there is a warranty which is great because your never gonna get screweed over if something breaks.
The Wow Factor
I Have the alpine white with gold pickups and i always get compliments. Its a beautiful guitar with a beautiful sound that comes with it.

"Darn close to perfect"

(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I'm not going to get another guitar for a long time. This is my only one, unless I'm rich and famous i doubt i'll get another one. The next one would probably be a les paul supreme, but only for the looks. It's got a very similar sound, so i'm good...
Sound
I've had this guitar a little over a year, I really doubt the sound could be any better. It's really versatile, not just sounds "okay" with everything, but it sounds great with everything. It's a les paul, it's got to sound good with rock, it sounds good with a lot of fuzz, or clean, really bluesy or metal, even jazzy it sounds great. I've yet to find a sound it can't do. I even got it to get that eric clapton sound and he's using single coil pups!
Features
It came with a hard case, it lives in there. I'm really happy I have that. I think the pickups are perfect, they sound great, the two tone and two volume knobs are really nice for getting that sound you want. It's... Perfect...
Ease of Use
It's got really good action, I gotta love that. The sound is a lot in the amp, but what comes out of the guitar couldn't be better. I've just got a little vox, and it sounds really nice with it.
Quality
Nothing wrong with it. I'm really paranoid about keeping it shiny and dent-free, but i've had some close calls. I really am not the one to rate this, i just gave it a ten. Judging from this year, i'd say it would last at least 50 years. If i keep treating it like I do, it'll last my life. It's gibson, i mean how bad could it possibly be? I can see a lot of little imperfections on epiphones, this has none. Everything is perfect that i know of...
Value
It's expensive, but if you want a guitar that'll last your life and you want to take care of it, i'd say it's worth far more than 1300. I think by the time i'm done with it, it won't have a value. Just... money don't do it...
Manufacturer Support
Never messed with this...
The Wow Factor
It's beautiful. I have the ebony/chrome one, and It would be easiest for that one to be ugly i think, but i guess I really just like the les paul shape and design. Strats? Not even close... I actually like it's modern ish look, without the binding. It's clean and modern. Beautiful...

"Love my LP Studio in Fireburst...."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
This iwll be the last guitar i ever own.. period
Sound
I hit all licks with this one. I can jam Grunge, or lay back and play the blues with it. I can even hit country tones. For the money, in my opinion it is the absolute best.
Features
I have the fireburst model. Its clean, it has the gold hardware, and all the get up I need for a "purtee" guitar as we call it in the south. Best feature? The toggle switch along with the x2 tone and x2 volume control... gives you tons of options, and when added with a peddle.. you can really reach some sick sounds, from metal to folk... its got you covered.
Ease of Use
I have a cheap amp and I have a mid-expensive line six.. and can hit what ever tone i need on both. Sound is classic of Les Pauls.. period.
Quality
I own the LP Studio, a Fender Strat American Standard and an Ibanez RG5, and the LP is the absolute best in quality. Less the bindngs, its still a Les Paul... QA is tops an its made in the good ol US of A
Value
Its the aboslute best buy for the buck. Period, its all the bang and whizz of the Les Paul line, less all of the adornment of the Standard and/or the custom. Its got everything a guy needs that isnt going on road tours.

So far so good!

"This guitar is the best guitar ever. Period."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I will probably never find a better sounding guitar than this (for my style of music). If it were lost or stolen, I would most definately buy another one. It is pretty much the ultimate guitar. I don't know why you would even buy a Les Paul Standard or another Les Paul model. This model is already perfect, and it costs less. If you want a guitar that will blow you away, buy this... now. Yeah seriously, buy it now, because the price is going to keep rising.
Sound
This is a classic sound and a must have for any serious musician, especially if you play hard rock, in my opinion. Compared with a fender strat, the strat has alot more treble. This is for more of an agressive, yet warm tone. Perfect for live or recording, hence the name 'studio'. I know for a fact that Daron Malakian of System of a Down used this guitar to record the album, Toxicity. And countless others I'm sure have used this model also, both live and recording.
Features
Pretty simple guitar, not alot of features, but it doesn't need alot.
Ease of Use
Personally this is the easiest and most comfortable guitar I've ever played, and I've played my share of guitars. The ONLY thing I have to complain about is that the neck is kinda thick toward the upper frets, making solos a bit harder. But I don't play solos too often so I don't really care cuz everything else about the guitar makes up for this.
Quality
Quality is top notch. The best. Should last me a long time. I wouldn't use it without a backup, but then again, I wouldn't use any guitar without a backup.
Value
It's expensive, but definately worth it. Both the sound and the look of a Gibson Les Paul is recognizable just about anywhere.
Manufacturer Support
Don't know
The Wow Factor
Anyone who doesn't want a Gibson Les Paul obviously doesn't want to sound good. Why wouldn't you want one? It sounds good for any style of music, and it looks good for any style of music.

"Les Paul -- God's Guitar"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
In short, if God himself wanted a guitar, He would no doubt go out and get a Les Paul. The only draw back is that God is the only one I know who can afford one.
Sound
In the history of music, there has never been a better sounding instrament.
Features
Like all Gibson guitars, the Les Paul has plenty of fetures to keep any musician happy.
Quality
You can't find a more butiful guitar on the face of the planet. And every one I have picked up has been a work of art.
Value
I do feel that the guitar is worth the price. Unfortunately, that price is just too high for the average consumer.
Manufacturer Support
I have had no need to ever contact the company, so i'll just give them a ten on the principle of the thing.
The Wow Factor
I want one of these so bad i can taste it.

The quality and finish are outstanding. I got the ebony, which to some may look bland but I've got to tell you, in person it's sexy. I mainly got the Studio version because I just wanted the sound, not the frills. My only issue is that I'll need to get it setup. I was under the impression that everything would sound great out of the box and nothing else was required. However I find that a couple of my strings get out of tune by the time I finish playing a songWith bends in them. It's not a major issue but it can be annoying when I'm playing live.

"A huge step in my musical life..."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I bought this product because I am starting to get to the point in my musical journey where I expect to go full-time before too long. I needed something that fit with my musical style, and would be top-quality for the future. I don't expect to sell it, or to replace it anytime soon. When I do get another axe, I expect to keep this one as well. Gibson guitars are something you can keep for a lifetime. If I went for another electric guitar, it would be 1) to get different (but not necessarily better) tone (such as buying a semi-hollow body or a hybrid), and 2) because I love beautiful musical instruments. The best features are... everything? I LOVE the tone, the looks, and the satisfaction of knowing I got a top-quality instrument that I can cherish. The thing I like least is that, on the sides of the instrument, the grain looks a little different from the top (which, if you've ever worked with wood, you know this happens naturally). I don't know that it's BAD, just that you don't get an accurate picture from the photos online. It's still GORGEOUS. Bottom line - they are bound to discontinue this sooner or later (I have a gut feeling it's going to be sooner, with the impending release of the LP Studio Raw Power). Buy one while they are still in production. It's a unique gem of THE classic line of solid body guitars. It's a great step into Gibsons for the guitarist who's played for a while but is now getting serious.
Sound
The sound on this guitar was a major improvement over my old axe (a Samick). The sound is rich and the sustain is smooth and long. There's a LOT of punch in the 490/498 pickup pair, and the tone may well be unmatched by any other guitar in the price range. I paired it with my Blackheart amp and my Boss DS-1 and it's a winner all around.
Features
It's a Les Paul. It has the standard features that every LP has. I like the separate volume and tone pots for each pickup. The three-way pickup switch also provides versatility. I've heard some people who want a trem bar. I don't think it needs it, honestly. Not for my style anyway. If you're playing Joe Satriani or Richie Sambora style, you might want to go with a different axe anyway. One note is that of course the Studio does not have the binding that the LP Standard has. I don't consider this a negative, though. I bought the studio in part for the faded brown semi-gloss finish. I didn't want the glossy finish and smooth appointments of the higher-end LPs, because they don't fit with the music I play.
Ease of Use
Like I said, I went from a Samick to this. It is sooo much easier to get a great sound out of this guitar. The separate volume/tone for each pickup gives you a lot of tonal combinations. It's pretty simple to use.
Quality
It's a Gibson LP. They have one of the highest reputations for quality of any guitar company. It came set up pretty well from the factory, and there are no apparent issues at all with it. I just got it yesterday, though, but after playing it for a while last night, it seems TOP quality.
Value
I got this one on sale for 20% off the usual price, and it's worth every penny. I wouldn't pay TOO much more for it, but it's worth what I shelled out and then some.
Manufacturer Support
I have never had to call, but from what I have heard, it's also top-notch.
The Wow Factor
I can't say enough about it. It's a work of art. Period. Few other electric guitars have come close to the LP and this is a unique gem of the LP family. I bought a wall hanger so that everyone who comes into my living room can see it (along with my Ibanez EW20ASENT, also a work of art).

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

It's just killer.
Sound
I have the 'vintage mahogany' version for 800, and it is great. The burstbuckers on my are just so awesome.
Features
standard 2 volume, 2 tune, 3 way switch. I would really like one day to put on a double locking floyd rose-then it would be killer. Also comes with nice case-i got the a new version with white interior
Quality
It came with a few small cosmetic blemishes in odd places, like near the strap bolt by the neck. The frets were pretty good. ok intonation and almost perfect intonation (like a 9.9 out of 10). Pretty good considering the horror storys i heard.
Value
You get what you pay for-a great guitar
Manufacturer Support

Sound
For the last two years, I've played a fender squire electric, which I thought sounded pretty good considering it was under $200... I just didn't think there could be such a significant difference in it and a $1000+ guitar, in guality of sound... Sweet Jesus was i wrong... This LPstudio is worth every penny just for the sound alone...
Value
It is well worth it... I would skip lunch every day for three months if that was the only way I could afford this baby... and actually it is... My lp was a gift, a sweet ass gift... thank you lord; and brother.
Manufacturer Support
I would imagine the world's most boring job would be answering the phone in the Customer Support center at Gibson... The phone probably only rings a couple times a year, and one of them is surely a wrong number...

Im never going to sell this guitar.Ive got a strat, tele and custom made Brian Moore with the trimmings,Gibson LP has a world of its own.Its best you get one now, because their not going to get any cheaper.Having a Gibson is having a life time investment, the older it gets the more it will be worth.
Sound
I just got my LP studio and it feels, sounds, and looks great1 I,ve purchased a Epiphone Lp standard a year ago I tricked with gib pickups, but believe me if you could afford a Gibson , GET It! This bad boy screams in my Mesa Boogie Mark 4 combo. The rhythum pu is fat and warm the bridge is sweet not to harsh, and it sustains like hell!
Features
The case is ok but i wish I could have picked the interior color.I got white interior, man that sucks, being a working musician, its going to be hard to keep it clean.Overal,Ill just use my gigbag
Ease of Use
i give it a ten
Quality
The set up Gibson gave my studio was perfect. No fret buzzing, the finish is awsome. When my friend saw the guitar he said one word after playing around with it, EFFORDLESS! Hey its a Gibson, you get what your money pay for!
Value
The value is still reasonable, considering all the other brands of guitars being made to sound, feel and look like Les Paul. The closer you get to the Lp the higher their price is.so.......
Manufacturer Support

"A great starter that can become a keeper no matter how far your playing comes along."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I am a Les Paul fan start to finish. These guitars are the greatest for dirty smoky gigs. Bang them up, they keep asking for more. You want a guitar that doesn't mind going into the muck with you then this is it. No fancy binding this baby looks beautiful like it is.
Sound
I have been playing for a total of 30+ years. My style of music is hard rock. The tone and sustain you get from these Les Pauls are beyond compare. Rock and roll is dirty and these guitars will sound dirty and full for you.
Features
I am giving these a six because they lack a tremolo which I don't particularly use but I know man do.
Ease of Use
Just plug the thing in and play. The sound is incredible how much easier can it be. I give this a 8 because some people don't like how heavy the guitar is. Which I can understand how this might turn off some people but it is easy to get used to.
Quality
Gibson has been great with quality and is good about fixing any problems. I personally haven't had any issues but anybody I have talked to is in agreement that Gibson will take car of any problems. Other than that the materials used, the finish, fit and feel are top notch.
Value
These guitars have keep their value and you will notice that they go up in value after years. With little care a guitar you buy now can be the property of your great grandchild in the future.

The only reason I give it an 8 is because this thing is not durable at all. Make sure you take very special care of it. Everything else about this guitar makes up for it. The sound and the look are amazing. Great buy.
Sound
Sound is amazing. The best there is.
Features
not alot of features... but you don't need many
Quality
All I can say is BE CAREFUL with this. I had someone knock it over ON CARPET and the headstock snapped right off. It is fixed now but it surprised me that it snapped off by falling on carpet. I guess the quality of wood isn't as good as everyone says it is...
Value
This guitar is definitely worth the price. I would have spent alot more money for this guitar now knowing how it sounds.

Gibson Les Paul Studio Customer Review

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
The sound is absolutely amazing. It has this certain little sound that attracts your attention when you hear it. For recording, it sounds perfect, and you really can't get that out of many guitars. I play sort of like Yngwie Malmsteen, but not THAT fast. If you were to categorize me in music, I would go quite well in the Romanticism Era with Beethoven. When I play my heavier songs, I would say I have a mixture of influences. At first, when I started playing the guitar, I was so into Jimmy Page. Then, I absolutely loved Eddie Van Halen. My latest influences are more melodic and have a lot of meaning to their songs. Number one, Yngwie J. Malmsteen, 2, Ritchie Blackmore, 3, Jimmy Page, and 4, Eddie Van Halen, but all of his solos are pretty much the same. I have played it at a school talent show, and it sounds excellent. Some of the sound is coming from a Fender amplifier. I highly recommend this guitar

"awesomeness... with strings"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
aside from issues with the tuning keys, this is a beautiful guitar for a beautiful price. i own a washburn also, and i play that from time to time for something different, but i always come back to the gibson when im not just screwing around, when im really trying to play. i love this guitar, and its age doesnt matter(it was my dads)
Sound
oh dear lord, the sound is great! its really a good guitar for rock, punk, and metal, which is what i mostly play. so in short, i love the sound.
Features
not alot of features. just the four knobs and the switch. the norm. nothing too special makes it special, i say for this guitar
Ease of Use
its a heavy guitar, and it takes getting used to if you're used to say a fender strat or something like that. i learned first on my gibson les paul, so im used to the weight, but it can be a problem with other players till u get used to it. once you do, its a very easy guitar to play. the neck is nice and thick, and i have big hands so this is good for me. its really smooth and sounds great.
Quality
this is a very high-quality instrument. the only problem i noticed is that it goes out of tune a bit quicker than most guitars. this is a bit annoying, but not a serious problem. the only other technical issue i had was when the metal box containing the tuning key for my third string snapped off. i got a replacement, but it was a bit frustrating to say the least. however, ive heard this isnt very common, so generally id say dont count on this happening and factor it into a decision
Value
as it were, i would sell this guitar for alot more than it is listed here for. its a fantastic piece o' work, and i love it. i was amazed zzounds had such a low price for it
Manufacturer Support
i havent had any problems with mine. it was my dads before mine, and i dont know of any issues he had. the only complaint i had was the issue with the tuning key, but thats easily dealt with

I'm 13 this is the best guitar out there for the price.
Sound
Great sound quality running through a line 6 spider3 amp. One little problem though the pick-ups could be stronger by that I mean they just don't give me the sound I want out of such a great guitar. I thought about replacing it with a dimarzio "super distortion" pick-up.
Features
Well the pick-guard. I also own an Ace Frehley custom and that doesn't have a pick-guard and it's sorta scratched up(not that you can see.)
Ease of Use
I only gave it a 9 because of the pick-ups. they don't give me the fullness of a great gibson.
Quality
It's made very well. light but strong and durable. I could depend on this guitar on the road and wouldn't even need a backup guitar
Value
great for the price.

"A Les Paul For All Ages"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
I play mine through a couple different Marshalls and a line 6. All I have to do is play a power chord and it brings me back to the golden days of hard rock. The sustain goes on forever.
Features
Is a guitar supposed to have a lot of features? It's basic simplicity is it's best feature. Not a bunch of on board electronics to mess it up
Ease of Use
You turn it up. You play it. The neck feels solid and substantial and the contoured body keeps from cutting into my arm too much.
Quality
Ok here's where I have a problem. When I got my guitar it had a small dent in the back without paint. I know that happened at the factory because It was covered by the gloss top coat. Since then I have left it sitting on my guitar stand for two weeks and there's a dent on the back of the neck. I swear, if I look at it wrong it will get another dent in it just to make me mad. Also with the finish they use it's really hard to get it clean without small swirls in it (being ebony finish doesn't help).
Value
I have always wanted 2 things. A Rickenbacker bass and a Gibson Les Paul. I got both of them a couple of years ago. With my Les Paul I got it at Guitar Center and after "intensive" negotiations I only paid $900.00 for it (tax included). Was it worth it? YES!!!!!
Manufacturer Support
American made with a lifetime warranty ... sweeeeeeet!
The Wow Factor
I first played a Les Paul Custom over 30 years ago and I was addicted. Since then I have played countless guitars (and basses). I also own a Fender Powerhouse Strat, a yamaha, a Ibanez, and a Takamine acoustic. Of all my guitars I know I will have my Les Paul for the rest of my life. When I die I expect it to be passed down from generation to generation. A true family herloom.

"THE guitar for any style of music from country to heavy ass metal!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

Sound
The Sound is absolutely amazing. It sounds like any other Les Paul Standard or Custom, but it's cheaper than the other ones. That's best thing about this guitar, the price; I couldn't believe it when I saw $1,319 for a Gibson Les Paul. I was stunned.
Features
The features fit the guitar perfectly. I love it :)
Ease of Use
The neck is just so smooth, and the body is so sleek, it's just the perfect guitar (what else would you expect from a Gibson?)
Quality
It's a sturdy guitar. I feel like it'll never break, and the finish is just outstanding. I have the Alpine white finish, it looks so good hanging from the wall, it's like a million dollars up on the wall. lol
Value
Yes, this guitar is worth every penny.

The stock pickups sound really nice, everything looks great.Overall happy with everything about the guitar. Couple things I didn't like however, the tuners are kinda cheapish, i will relplace with grovers. I noticed a few light scratches in the clear coat on the back allmost like somebody used it. The main thing that really bummed me out is the sloppy finish on the side of the fretboard. (where binding should be) wow it really looks like crap i could do better with some damn clear nail polish. I will be taking it to get sanded. The case is made in Canada that kinds blows also.

I cannot give it a full review as I am still admiring the beauty, fireburst. Readng two reviews I am concerned for the sturdiness of the guitar. Two buyers said the neck and fret board came off when it fell. I have not plugged it in yet. I have gone over the action and it seems somewhat high for my style, but I can fix that. The frets seem somewhat high, making the action slow. The case is sturdy, but would have like a darker inside color.

"In a word, wonderful."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
I've been in love with this guitar since the moment I first saw it. The aesthetics are what initially sold me on this guitar. However, after paying close attention to several bands who use this guitar for touring I began to appreciate more and more the versatility it provides. It took me a good five years of becoming more and more infatuated before deciding to stop waiting and just buy one for myself. I have not since regretted one cent of my purchase.
Ease of Use
I've read several reviews saying that this guitar is pretty heavy, but I'm a pretty big guy (6'2" tall, 220 pounds) and this guitar feels perfect to me. I know I won't break it by doing my thing. The action on this guitar feels so great that it's wonderful. I spent half a dozen years playing guitars with too high of action and now I feel like a primo guitar player with how quickly I can move around on this guitar.
Value
Many have said that when buying a Gibson more or less you're paying for the name and I agree. However, I would easily disagree with anyone who would wish to argue that it's a bad thing. The quality is superb.
The Wow Factor
I love the way this guitar looks and feels.

"VERY NICE OVERALL"

After checking out all the LPs up to this price point I went with the Fireburst with chrome hardware. Tough decision on this or the red wine color. I'm not a big fan of the unfinished look nor the necks with or cooked maple fretboards. Other than a couple tiny spots of stain under the finish that you cant see from ten feet away the guitar was perfect out of the box. No jagged fret ends, intonation was on(amazingly) Close enough for rock and roll. The weight is comfortable with good balance. The tuners have kept tune. Myself I like the 490 pickups. The only thing I've done to it is lower the pickups a tad and take off the selector switch plate. I like the studio's for the 50s thicker neck and the tad flatter and wider fretboard than my Telecaster. And the Studios no binding running up the ends of the frets. All in all I almost hate to take it out of the house to a gig and put a pick mark on it. Great sultry jazz sound if needed, for sure rock and roll, blues, and some spanky country on the bridge pickup if needed.

"LES PAUL STUDIO FIREBURST"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Overall I like the guitar. After having it for a few weeks I'll add to my past review. When changing the strings i treated the rose wood fret board with Fret Honey. Great stuff. I changed the strings and playing out my second night at a dinner gig I broke 4 strings. THANKFULLY I had thrown in a new set of strings for backup. Gibson just cuts a V in the saddles and leaves it rough with sharp edges that cut the stings. Spent the next day rounding out the saddle notches with my nut files. I plan to replace the whole bridge assembly soon anyways. While I had my files out and strings off, I rounded off the tops of the fret ends and polished them. Gibson again does half the job here. They come OK but could be better. The Studio models are at a good price point. The overall quality is good but if you are picky you might be making some simple mods to bring your Studio up to par. Other than that this guitar is comfortable to play and adds a great work horse to my collection.

"BUY THIS!!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
With all being said, the Gibson Les Paul Studio is at the top of my list.
Sound
Of all the Gibsons I've heard and played, nothing came close to the sound of an original Les Paul Studio. It sounded cool with a clean tone, but amazing with distortion.
Features
While playing this model down south, the gold hardware over the nice Alpine white body just gleamed. It reminded me of an expensive chandelier found in Victorian era ballrooms. lol
Ease of Use
Although it is pretty hard to go up the neck with some LPs, the Studio makes it much easier and more comfortable to shred up to the 22th fret even. And it's also a 60s profile, so it's firm and smooth, not fat and bulky.
Quality
This product was made more than well; the guys at the Gibson Factory did the best they could to the best guitar at an affordable rate.
Value
The Studio's price is not as high compared to a Standard. But, it costs a little more than an Epiphone Elitist...Maybe?
Manufacturer Support
There wasn't really a problem with the Les Paul, nonetheless, it's perty costly!
The Wow Factor
It's actually a beautiful piece of work having gold hardware on an Alpine white finish.

"Miserable."

Overall: 2 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
In the long run, not only is it not "the guitar for everyone," it's also less durable than cheap Korean imitations. I've played guitar for seven years and worked in three guitar shops, and I can easily say that the best guitars I've played have been BC Rich and Schecter. Gibson has failed miserably in my eyes. At one point, they were my preferred brand, but I'd rather play a cheap imitation guitar than something that will break.
Sound
Sounds the way a Les Paul should: nice, warm tone. There are guitars out there that sound like this, though they are hard to find.
Features
I would have preferred something with a vibrato over a stop-tail, but I liked the control I had over the volume and tone for each humbucker.
Ease of Use
All depends on how you play. If you're a blues bender, you'd love it. But if you want to unleash some shredding fury, look elsewhere. The neck is thick, especially on the high frets, and I find it hard to believe that so many of the world's greatest shredders actually used it.
Quality
This is actually a horror story. I had just gotten one of these in the Fireburst finish and decided to bring it with me on a gig. I put it on its stand when I was done so I could fetch the case. When the stand was knocked over, the headstock broke completely off, taking most of the fret board with it. I've owned a few import models that have been put through a LOT of abuse and never had a problem this big. For a neck this thick, it must be extremely poorly assembled to have broken so easily. I returned it under warranty and got a BC Rich Mockingbird Special X to replace it. I HIGHLY recommend that guitar over this one, as it's equally beautiful but better in every other aspect.
Value
I am forever convinced that Gibson is a horrible company. If this guitar was stolen, I'd wish the thief luck trying to avoid the same problem I've had.
Manufacturer Support
I was able to negotiate the return, but Gibson itself has been a horrible company to work with. I waited nearly a year for this guitar to come, and it broke within a month of arrival.
The Wow Factor
I've received many positive reviews on the looks of the guitar. This is because Gibson are known very well for paying attention to detail on aesthetics. However I also own a Schecter C1 Classic which looks better on stage.

im a les paul fan.. i would never play something else! i really love the tone
Sound
very fat tone,, perfect for rock music with the 498t in the bridge position
Features
its a gibson.. i give it a 7 because there is no tremolo, 22 frets (no 24) and it's very heavy
Ease of Use
a very heavy guitar, but lighter than the standard les paul. i really love the tone
Quality
it's gibson quality
Value
expensive
The Wow Factor

Gibson Les Paul Studio Customer Review

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I mean if u have the money either buy a Gibson Sg Standard or just save up and buy the Double Cutaway one for 1,400 $ or just wait until u get a good gibson les paul because i dont like this model, NO BODY BINDING OR ANYTHING!! like a les paul special... not not not hanous
Sound
It has a very smooth, overall sound :), can get blues, or hell anything out of it like acdc, or some aerosmith and etc.
Features
WOW, i didnt know the maple top of it comes off.. IT DOESNT, two of mine were defective..., well the pickups are Semour Duncan Alinco 490, and 498's, pretty good :)
Ease of Use
I can play any solo without even picking the sustain is fanominal and the frets are small :) , i feel like slash playing it, well DID
Quality
I have owned 2 DEFECTIVE STUDIOS, where both of the tops came off of the mahogany body, which is not cool at all, my Epiphone Les Paul Custom costs half as much as this and it looks better and PLAYS better, i like my Epiphone better
Value
NA, for the price of this I would rather get a Gibson Sg, for a few reasons, one its ALOT Lighter, two its crunchier, three its a little bit more lighter, four it has no defects in it, five u can thrash it like angus young and it still sounds beautiful, seven u can play it easier
Manufacturer Support
They automatically replaced my defective studios, twice, but the third time I got the Gibson SG Standard
The Wow Factor
I would rather want a Gibson Sg or even a Epiphone Les Paul Custom for $699 which i do own and it sounds better than the studio, the only thing separating gibson from epiphone is where it is made and the name, other wise Epiphone is BETTER than gibson, unless u get up into the 3,000 $ ones.. u know?

"If you've been looking for that great sound that you thought only people like Slash or Anus Young could get, look no further tha"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I'll be happy with this for the rest of my life that i continue to make and play music. The moment it breaks i'll be right out to get another one.
Sound
This guitar sounds great. It sounds amazin in all styles of music-clean, distorted or with effects. It doesnt get much better than this.
Features
It came with a strap, a hardcase which is solid as anythin. It would really take some force to break into it. I bought strap locks seperately aswell. I advise you do this if youre planning on getting one because the Les Pauls are quite heavy and id rather pay an extra couple of quid just for the safety of it.
Quality
Its a Gibson...it aint gonna be anywhere near low quality.
Value
If you want a Les Paul but dont want a copy or dont want to end up paying loads, this is by far the one to get.
Manufacturer Support
I'm sure its fine but the chances are you'll never need it.
The Wow Factor
Hell yeah!!! No musician is complete without one of these.

"great all around guitar"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
A little bit less on the cosmetic side than the standard, but a heck of a lot cheaper.
Sound
the 490 and 498t pickups have a great sound. Can cover all styles and still sound good clean or distorted. They come up a hair short compared to the les paul classic ceramic pickups but you can get real close adjusting your eq.
Features
it has all you need.It came with Les Paul's signature size strings in 2001.(9 - 46)The neck is the fatter 50's neck.Once I got used to this combination,I could bend like crazy and still had the chunk up top.
Quality
My paint came off on the guitar stand.Had to wrap a sock around the stand where it makes contact. Also finish came off my gold bridge from resting my hand on it.
Value
I got mine on sale for a $1000 with the wine ,red, gold package. It would be nice if they came down $100,but then again the epiphone doesn't sound as good.
Manufacturer Support
haven't dealt with them yet.
The Wow Factor
Pretty guitar, great sound, feels lighter than the standard which is nice for the shoulder.

"Unbelievable guitar has stamped the Gibson name on my heart forever."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Awesome all the way around. This guitar was my first electric guitar that I've owned. I've tried out every brand of guitar from a Fender to a Line 6, from a B.C. Rich to an Ibanez, from Yamaha to a Wasburn which my brother owns and nothing has compared to the sound and feel of this Gibson Les Paul Studio. I knew the first time I picked it up that this was the guitar for me.
Sound
I haven't been playing guitar too long and the other 100 electric guitars I picked up over the past month in my price range never had quite the sound of this beauty. Unbelievable sound on my Marshall DFX15 Amplifier.
Features
All around awesome guitar. When I purchased it I told the sales person that I only wanted the guitar and naturally he brought this black beauty Gibson Studio out in it's Gibson USA Guitar Case. I guess it was all in the presentation because I walked out with that guitar cas as well. Very Nice.
Quality
It's Gibson and naturally you get what you pay for even down to the lower end Gibson guitars which is ofsuperior quality. And a name & reputation to go with it. My advice.....Stay away from the mid to higher end Ephiphones and go with a lower to mid end Gibson. Gibson has a better resale if you decide to upgrade.....to a higher end Gibson that is.
Value
I've seen this guitar selling from price ranges up to $1500.00 and people paying that price. If you can own this guitar with the case for less that $1200.00 your in for a treat.
Manufacturer Support
No support needed as of yet. I better not need support.....it's a Gibson.....Made in the USA.
The Wow Factor
Cool Ebony Pitch Black with Crome Pick-ups.....Need I say more.
