"Gibson Guitars are WORTH IT!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I have been very satisfied with this guitar. Great guitar would most surely recommend!
Sound
I am a studio guitarist for country music recordings. I live and play in Nashville, the home of this great company. I love it, its one of the best guitarist I own. I also own Les Pauls signature which looks amazing on the pickguard on the guitar ( only used during live shows) I give this a 10 out of 10!
Features
Awesome tone and rhythm. Sounds great through any type of amp!
Ease of Use
Takes a while to get adjusted to the pick ups. Have to play around with it a while. Other than that its very easy to use.
Quality
Top of the line. Puts fender in the grave. Best American Guitar I've ever played.
Value
I payed $2999 for my guitar and so far have got every penny I spent out of it. High price but worth it!
Manufacturer Support
Ever have questions Gibson always is kind enough to answer any question you got.
The Wow Factor
I had a erection towards this thing since the day I saw it. Now its my "partner" Love it!

"Meet the new Gibson Les Paul"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I will probably keep this guitar forever. When I do buy another guitar, it will be another Les Paul.
Sound
NOTHING sounds like a Gibson Les Paul. I play every style of music; rock, blues, jazz, heavy metal, and this guitar handles it all!
Features
This guitar comes with a hard shell Gibson USA case. The guitar itself is equipped with 2 volume and 2 tone controls, as well as a 3 way toggle switch for pickup selection.
Ease of Use
I use this guitar through a Marshall JCM 900 on stage and a Roland Micro Cube at home. Of course, it is a Les Paul...it sounds great through everything.
Quality
The Les Pauls of the past went out of tune easily, and weren't set up very well from the factory. The new Standard is equipped with Grover locking tuners, which hold the guitar in tune perfectly. I haven't had to do any modifications to this guitar, it played perfect straight from the factory.
Value
This is an expensive guitar! I payed $2,600 for mine. But, you will not get that Gibson sound from any other guitar. You can get a Fender Stratocaster for $999, and it will sound great, but it will not sound like a Gibson. The Les Paul is worth the extra money without a doubt.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't had to use Customer Service yet!
The Wow Factor
This is the most beautiful guitar made!

"A dream come true..."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
As indicated, the Les Paul robot would be next on my list if it is made of the same quality. I have to play it first.
Sound
Awesome, best I ever sounded. But I don't have a killer Marshall or Mesa tube - just a new Peavey tube (about $600) amp, so I cant rate it a "10".
Features
What more do you want in a guitar? One that washes dishes? If you know how to use vol and tone in combination and know that pick up setting you want, do you need anything else? I don't use a whammy, so I don't miss it.
Ease of Use
Love the slim 60's neck! Didn't like playing the 50's neck at all. "Riding" the sustain is one of my favorite "tricks" when ending songs or coming out of a lead. It can go forever!
Quality
Best guitar I ever owned. Got the Gold Top and it looks great! Bindings look great too. No flaws whatsoever. And American made!
Value
Here we go again. If they can make an Epiphone knock off for $400-$700, how can they charge so much for this great axe? What does this have that the Epi does not have, or could not be added? I will state till I die that this is the best guitar I ever owned, but I do think that it is seriously overpriced. Probably because of saps like me that had to wait until their 40's to own such a treasure. The Les Paul robot guitar provides me with a more palpable value proposition so that may be my next guitar. Let's face it, Gibson has the quality and the name. You really can't lose if you buy it at the right price.
Manufacturer Support
Only called to review the warranty. Got a live person in 3 minutes and they answered my question.
The Wow Factor
I wanted this guitar for nearly 30 years, and got it last year. It is one of the most recognizable, sought after guitars out there. I wanted it more after I actually played one! Iti is a dream come true.

"if gibson made whisky, it would proably be better than jack danniels."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
i will be very happy withe this for some years.i will replace it eventually for a newer model but i will still buy a nother gibson. next time i may get a les paul custom. this guitar has easilly meeted all my guitar goals and some more, nothin i tried previously came close. if it was to be stolen i would definately aquiure a new one. the thing i like the most is the appeal that is ooze's and to say i own a gibson les paul. there is ntohing i dont like about it.
Sound
i love the warm tones that the les paul produces. whether i'm hard rocking to metallica or bending slowly to the characteristic tones of slash the sound is absoultely fantastic. there is no way i would ever go back to owning a fender strat after having the pleasure of ownin a les paul.
Features
with the les paul i bought i was given a fitted hard case, strings and a gibson logo strap. the best features are the incredible humbuckers. the positon of the selector switch is in the perfect spot on the body.i think the whole guitar is near perfect.the body and the neck are both made from mahoginy, but my model has a 60's fast fretting neck. the whole set up or the guitar is fantastic.
Quality
this model is absouletly impeckable the finnish is fantastic i've never had a problem with it.
Value
there are a lot of guitars for this price but i dont think anything comes close.
Manufacturer Support
i've never had any problems with it, so i've never meeded to contact the company.
The Wow Factor
comone, this is a gibson les paul every one wants one, the quality and the looks ooze sex appeal, it looks awsome.

"This is overall one of the greatest guitars that a player could ever have the privalage of owning. Something that really inspire"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
I would be satisfied for a long time, most likely till death, but i might a different guitar for a different purpose like playing Jazz. I would never replace it. The only thing that would lead me to search for something else would be the need for it...like an acoustic guitar for a live show in which i would an acoustic.
Sound
This is one of the best sounded and sexeast looking guitars i have ever played....i have a lot in my day too. The sound quality is amazing. It respones like a dream, plays very easy and smooth. It has balanced tone for the most part, more on the bright side a little though. It is good for all rock styles, wounderful blues guitar, and and any other style i can think of it would be great for except Jazz. It has all around good sound. I'm just an alright guitar player...and i was complemented on my playing with this guitar by a total sranger-it makes most all of your sound, sound great. It would go pretty good with most all other products, though it would sound better with other gibsons,as far as guitars go. It would be an awsome guitar for live or in the studio. Sounds good with any settings, but sustainfull settings best. I used a Marshall valve state half stack and my friend was on a tama rock drum set. Sounds good, would make a great guitar for anyone who buy it. Not too many things could make this sound better but ... the guitar has lots of sustain so it will go best with other rock oriented instraments.
Quality
Made by the best guitar company in my opinion. Very well put together, amde in US. The finish is very nice...it is very beautiful guitar. Very reliable product. As with any Gibson, you can play to your hearts content and you can be confident that nothin will break. Would be fine for use on the road. Worst aspect is thats its very heavy for a gutar. Seems like it would last for a lifetime.
Value
This is one of the niced guitars i have ever played, but it is 2000 dallors. I think that is pretty high price for a guitar, i would be more likely to buy it if it was around 1200 dallors, i also think that Gibson would sell mush more of them too.
The Wow Factor
It is the most Sexest guitar i have ever played. This guitar really inspires a player to play more. It is a very nice feeling guitar. And it is very beautifully crafted. The falmetop is on thing that appeals to me, and the classic Les Paul shape i find very appealing as well.It would still sound great without the flametop.

Musical Style:

mostly play blues, but with lots of rock and Alternative mixed in.Also play jazz.

"Les Paul Standard"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I gave a 9 overall, only because the clean tones are a bit limited by all that mahogany. But, all that mahogany really pays off in the overdrive department :).
Sound
I gave it a 10 for overdrive tone. After swapping out the pickups out for a '59 neck and Evolution bridge, the OD tone sounds better than anything I've heard. It handles everything from classic rock tone, to the highest of high gain distortion, in spades. For clean tones it sounds good, but imo lacks the midrange character of say a Tele or Strat.
Ease of Use
The '60s neck is extremely fast & comfortable imo. I've heard folks w/shorter fingers rave about this neck. I have the long piano fingers... and still absolutely love this neck :)
Quality
Mine was made in 1991, and is extremely well put together. Just a very solid feeling, workhorse of a guitar.
Value
Mine was $800 in '91. Who knows how much they'll cost in 10-15 years!

60s Les Paul Standard Customer Review

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Has its drawbacks, but as I said, its got the best crunch of any guitar I've ever heard (quite a few). If you really want the tone - the best reason to by this guitar - consider cobbling one together and saving alot of money.
Sound
The best crunch guitar in the world. Absolutely unparalleled.
Features
It's a simple but effective formula, the tuners are a bit crap on it.
Ease of Use
Even the slim neck is too thick and a bit ungainly for my taste. I don't think the frets are designed very well, and it feels like you have to fight the guitar to play fast. Not very good access to the upper register.
Quality
yeh it's good.
Value
Gibson's are notoriously overpriced. It's a great guitar that I'd gladly pay about 3/4 of the standard asking price

"Les Paul Forever"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
The Les Paul is timeless! My problem is I always have to have a different finish, thats why I'm on my 4th! Running out of room in my studio! I have been playing guitar for over 30 years. Nothing comes close to a LP or the SG ( thats another story ) I have played professionally, recorded, and just plain old rocked on LP for ever! I never wrote a review before, but after reading what some other idiots have said moved me to my key board.
Sound
Nothing comes close to sounding like a LP they have been around for ever! It is one of the most sought after tones in the business! Everything is based around the Les Paul and the Humbucker. I play straight into my amps ( Marshall's & Vox's ) my only pedal is a tape echo delay thats it. The sound is amazing. Sustain is for ever, screaming leads, melting chords and crunchy blues ect ect you name it. You cant plug a $3000.00 LP into a $30.00 amp and then complain about the sound of the guitar!
Features
If you want bells and whistles, then buy bells and whistles. It has what it needs. Volume and tone.... what else is there. Want a "whammy bar" buy a LP with a bigsby! or add one to your LP. A guitar is wood and pickups. Those of you who need all the other crap... should focus less on the junk and learn how to use that axe!
Ease of Use
The tones you can get from this LP are endless, thats if your not afraid to use the knobs! People just turn the knobs to 10 and then complain they cant get the sound they want! If you play through a real amp, not those cheap half tube or cheesy modeling things,I mean real all tube amps. I dont care which brand, everybody has a different ear. You can make this guitar do what ever you want it to.
Quality
It is a Gibson, hand made! every once in a while there might be a slight flaw. I'd rather have a Gibson than anything else. Fit and finish is awesome. Never ever had a problem with anything on all my Gibsons dating back to the early 70's. Some people say their turners suck... all I can say is learn how to string a guitar! Just added my 4th LP a few months back and it is the same quality Gibson as my earlier ones. I have purchased $40000.00 autos that had some slight flaws also! If you think an Epiphone LP is just as nice as an Gibson.. you need to quit playing the guitar and play the bongos or something. The Epi is a really nice cheap replica that the average Joe can buy, but it is nothing like a Gibson.
Value
You are buying a piece of history. The icon of Rock-N-Roll. The most recognizable guitar of all time! Made in AMERICA baby! you want cheap, cheesy plastic finished guitars that take batteries, I suggest you buy them and do the rest of us a favor and dont buy a LP and then complain about the price! You get what you pay for.
Manufacturer Support
Dont really know about repair or anything else because I never needed to use it in 37 years!

"Good but Pricey"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

Overall, it's a good guitar, just needs some decent tuners.
Sound
It just doesn't get any better than this!
Features
The tuners suck- you'd think for something this pricey they could at least put Grovers on!!
Ease of Use
this bugger starts digging a groove in my shoulder after about 20 minutes...
Quality
The AA maple top could be a lot better- what are they doing over there at gibson now, only putting the really nice flamey tops on the 5000 dollar guitars?
Value
Way overprice, actually

"This is a great guitar"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Overall, this is one of the best guitars I have ever played, I really hope whoever reads this takes my advice and buys this guitar. It will make a difference and sounds awesome.
Sound
The sound of this guitar was exactly what I was looking for. For a classic rock junkie like myself, it was the perfect match. People that are realy in to 60's rock like Clapton, Paige, and Beck should really at least try this guitar out, I think i'm going to trade in my current guitar in for this one in the next few weeks.
Features
This guitar has no problems, everything is completely seamless, there is no hum from the pickups, which sound great, the neck is smaller for faster playing then previous models, and the bridge is good to.
Quality
This is my dream guitar, straight and simple. The rootbeer finish which is what I played on is simply amazing, there are no problems with it at all. I love the feel of a Gibson, when you pick it up, it's heavy and you can feel all the hard work that went into making it, and you know it means buisness, its just so much more brutal then a Stratocaster, a Strat has a very clean sound that is great for players with alot of finesse, but a Gibson is great for players who might not be the fastest players, but have alot of technique which really comes through in the guitars pickups.
Value
I would say the price of this guitar is well well worth it. It really is one of the best guitars I have ever played.
Manufacturer Support
I have never been in contact with Gibson.
The Wow Factor
I knew I needed this guitar I soon as I saw pictures of it, but with others it might be different. The look of the guitar is great as I mentioned before, and the feel of the guitar is wonderful.

I honestly will try to stick with this guitar the rest of my career as a lead guitar player. If the unthinkable was to happen and I dropped it off a building or something I would definantly replace it.
Sound
I love this guitars sound. It has an range from death metal to smooth jazz with proper distortions.
Features
Very good features on this guitar except I wish It came with a whammy bar
Ease of Use
It depends on how much you know guitars. i've been playing for 8 years and I can get the sound i need in seconds
Quality
I'd say the product is made fairly well unless you pay less to get the blemished. The finish is sexy (i have cherry sunburst) and it'll probably last me my whole life.

Sound
Anybody that puts anything but stock tunerson Gibson LP's and SG's just don't how to tune a guitar, and think changing the tuners will fix the problem. The Gibson tuners are about as close to perfection as there is. You have to know how to play by ear. and get it in tune using harmonices BEFORE you play. No tuners, you wusses.

60s Les Paul Standard Customer Review

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars

If you're going to advertise AA Flame top, you should deliver. Since the beginning, LP's have come with pick guards.
Sound
Had one of these back in 76, which I bought new. Since then have had various others including a PRS which I thought looked great but sounded horrible. I was a little put off by the chambered body/lighter weight design compared to the overweight battle axe I was used to, but when I plugged this in, I couldn't figure out why I ever sold my 76. I love the sound from this guitar.
Features
Grover tuners would've been nice. I got them std on my ES335 DOT. I immediately installed the pick guard when I got this guitar. IMO should've been done at the factory. Just doesn't look like an LP without it.
Ease of Use
The action out of the box is excellent. THere was no need to adjust anything.
Quality
AA Premium Flame top? I don't think so. Yeah, there is some flame, but it's hard to notice in certain light. There is also alot of grain running through the wood that detracts from the flame. Might not be so noticeable on the darker colors, but I got Heritage Cherry. The lacquer finish on the other hand is perfect.

buy this guitar-you wont regret it.
Sound
the sound is really smooth and powerful through pretty much any amp out there and has endless sustain. its the best sounding gibson and one of the best sounding guitars in the world, bar none.
Features
One word- unbelievable. the newer model is much lighter than before, the woods used makes the guitar sound really meaty, there is a volume and tone knob for each humbucker and a 3 way PU selector switch which can be used as a "killswich" if one of the pickups is turned way down, and its a gibson. do the math.
Ease of Use
Its a guitar-it cant be much easier to use, especially with the great feeling neck and fingerboard.

Just a great guitar
Sound
I love the sound of the pickups, they got a real clear sound and they have a bluesy sound and yet they sound great playing heavy music. The Mahohgany wood body and neck give the guitar a really nice overall warmth within the sound and the rosewood fingerboard is just really nice and when the string penetrates against the wood the tone it produces is just beautiful.
Features
The fixed brigde allows the guitar to stay in great tune. its confertable to play but i would really love the guitar if it had an all access heel joint because I very often play in the higher frets while soloing.
