"Too powerful for little amps"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
i think this guitar is very good. I have no complaints and completely satisfied this guitar is my sound, make sure that it is yours too before you buy it.
Sound
This is a very powerful guitar, little amps cant handle it, its very hot. The sustain is very lonnnnngggg, and its great for solos. The sound is very rich and deep. Sometimes i play acoustically just to hear the guitar by itself.
Features
it looks great, the neck is great, and the action is superb.
Quality
This thing is a tank it will never die. Im a clumsy fool, ive dropped it a lot and my strap collapses the instrument is still fine. I had a mexican strat for 2 years and i had to re-saulder some of the connections myself, i dont think ill ever have to do anything to this guitar
Value
They are expensive but ive never hear the gibson sound reproduced. Its a one of a kind sound.
The Wow Factor
looks beautiful, ill never have to replace this guitar

"I love my Classic"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Best guitar I've ever played. Some people might not like the ceramic pickups or the thin neck, or the tuners, but when you feel and see and hear what this guitar is and what it can do, all of those "issues" seem petty and irrelevant.
Sound
The Classic has a beautiful tone: round and thick. This guitar produces a BIG Les Paul sound.
Features
The Classic would be perfect if they added good locking tuners and strap locks. Some people don't like the cermaic pick-ups. I think they sound great. One man's meat is another man's poison. One man gathers what another man spills, etc.
Quality
Great neck: smooth, great fretwork, wonderful fingerboard Visually stunning guitar: mahogany wood grain on the sides and back; beautiful gold maple top; nice binding - flawless.
Value
I think this is a hell of a guitar for thirteen hundred bucks (or for fifteen hundred bucks). On the other hand, guitar prices are way too high, especially Gibsons. But then again, the quality of the construction and the attention to detail are clearly superior to cheaper guitars.
Manufacturer Support
I haven't tested the support.
The Wow Factor
The Classic is a dream guitar. Maybe if you're accostomed to very very expensive guitars, the Classic is not that impressive. But to me, this guitar is mind-numbingly awesome. I'm used to Les Paul Studios and Fender Stratocasters. From that angle, the Classic is a dream guitar. Also, it's not that much more expensive than a new Studio.

"Gibson's still got it."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I am very happy with the LP Classic and expect that I will be for a long time to come. I needed to upgrade to a sturdy, higher quality guitar, and I got it. It's going to be my mine live and in the studio until I can afford another LP (Custom) and a PRS for a little variety.
Sound
For a hard rock guitarist, it's great. It's loud and abrasive but warms up when you need it to. I plug it right into an amp, and I think it might actually make the amp sound better!
Features
Included a hardshell case, very nice reptile skin type. Gold hardware and standard Les Paul features; two alnic humbuckers, 2 volume/2 tone knobs, 3-way swtich, stopbar and tune-o-matic, you know the drill. Simple and effective.
Quality
No blemishes, quality control at the Gibby plant is apparently good. I think the only way I could have done better would have been getting a more expensive Gibson, or maybe a PRS.
Value
You get what you pay for. This should be a good guitar then. I love just about everything about a Gibson Les Paul except the price tag. But I'm a musician. We're always broke anyway.
Manufacturer Support
In this case, a 5 rating means n/a, meaning I haven't needed any support.
The Wow Factor
In my opinion, one of the nicest looking guitars around.

"Sweet Suzana's Story (the breakdown of my LP)."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Within the time I bought it, to the time I'm writing this review, this guitar has become my main guitar, shifting from my Strat. I think that should put it into perspective.
Sound
What would you expect from a Gibson? PERFECT sound, incredibely versatile sound, it's what God Himself would use.
Features
Uber comfortable neck, two ceramic humbucker pick-ups, two volume, two tone controls, etc. Everything about a Les Paul is there, incredibely versatile, ultra awesome
Ease of Use
Good sounds can come out of a guitar only by those who can touch it right. Putting that aside, virtually the EASIEST guitar I have ever in my life, neck is perfect for my hands, and fiddling with the tone controls can alter my sound so I don't have to fiddle with controls from my amp.
Quality
Incredibely well made, the sustain is outstanding, the guitar is the sexiest one I own, fool-proof and time-tested design, easy to play, hell EVERYbody should have this guitar.
Value
Very very very very pricey, but if you have the extra cash, it's worth every penny you're paying for. I mean it IS a GIBSON.
Manufacturer Support
Good warranty service, but I have never needed it yet.

I WILL NEVER GET RID OF THIS GUITAR!
Sound
I love the hot pickups. They are perfect for playing metal, especially the neck pickup.
Quality
I gave it 9 only because the factory set the action way too high and the pickups were way too hight also.

"Sweet guitar, a solid buy"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Overall its great. I didn't mention anywhere else that this sucker is heavy. However this is because it's one piece of solid wood, and that's a very, very good thing. I wouldn't have reservations at all about buying this thing again if I didnt already have a different les paul I like more (a smartwood studio)
Sound
cant complain here. those ceramic pickups are so nice. Super high output, no weak sounds. Very beautiful tone. These are what make Gibsons special.
Features
Case is nice, knobs and switches all work well. I dont like tune-o-matic bridges as much as fenders because you cant adjust each string height independantly.
Ease of Use
I dont like the 60's slim necks as much as the 50's round but most people disagree with me on that.
Quality
Oh yeah, this is why american made guitars are the best. I mean don't go dropping it or throwing it around, but everything about it is high quality. Finish is amazing. Neck is also amazing, inlays are amazing. Its amazing!
Value
Well it aint cheap, but it is worth it. Its not too bad for a gibson les paul, you wont be disappointed.
Manufacturer Support
I have called them before, and there was kind of a long wait. But I did get to speak in person after the wait, and the guy was knowledgeable and helpful. Although he had never heard of the studio les paul with bfg electronics.
The Wow Factor
These things are legendary and this one is beautiful, both in appearance and sound.

i will never sell this guitar unless there is a better offer on the table. this product does meet my goals. nice to use with slide and a very nice clean tone without the raunchy distortion.
Sound
overall the sound of this guitar is incredible. I think its the best guitar for the rock n roll sound. Also very good with slide.
Features
This guitar came with everything that was suppose to come with. With two volume and two tone nobs , this is very useful.
Quality
the quality is perfect. everything on this guitar is made so good. the finish is evenly lined up and is absolutely perfect.
Value
the value on this guitar is very nice. well worth getting one if you have the money. seems that it will definetly last a long time.

"To Les Paul, or not to Les Paul.....That is the question."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I've owned the two guitars mentioned above for fourteen years. If I lost the cherry burst, I'd be unconsolable. If the honey burst were to be abducted by aliens, destroyed by a meteor strike, or trampled by a herd of buffalo, I'd probably replace it with ....a new amp, or a wide screen TV.
Sound
This is kind of a difficult question for me to answer, as I own two of these. One is a cherry burst, which is one of the best guitars I've ever played, and I've been playing publicly since the early '60s. The other is a honeyburst, and is okay, bordering on "trading material". Odd, but true. The cherry burst is all that anyone could ask for, and the honey burst is kind of like its retarded sibling. Honey burst, is just, dull, uninspiring, and boring sound wise. Why do I keep it if I don't really have any use for it? It was a gift from my wife, and I just don't have the heart to tell her that she bought a turd. Most wives don't buy Les Paul guitars for their husbands.
Features
I have added a Gibson TP6, graphite nut, and Gibson Grover tuning keys to the Cherry burst.
Ease of Use
Cherry burst has been great since day one. Honey burst has been pretty much left in the case.
Quality
Both made well. Great finish. No flaws. One with Great tone and response to pick attack, the other ........without.
Value
Despite my love for my cherry burst Les Paul, I believe Gibson guitars are ALL way over priced. I have Epiphones that have been a fraction of the cost that get gigged as much or more than any of my Gibsons. Gibson needs to get real with their pricing and their quality in recent years.
Manufacturer Support
Upgrades performed by myself. No warrenty issues.
The Wow Factor
Everyone seems to lust after Les Paul guitars. That's what keeps them and everyone that builds copies in business. Problem is, lots of the copies are better - and cheaper - than the originals. Gibson is living off a name that has been around for years, and not maintaining the original quality. If all guitar builders started fresh today without benifit of name or previous reputation, could Gibson compete price wise, and quality wise, and not go out of business?

Sound
Great for R&b and Rock, But you will be hard pressed to get a truly clean sound except in the RYTM position. Very Hot pickups, need a little more mellowing.
Features
Has it all
Quality
Truly a quality piece of work. built to last forever.
Value
Expensive, you can get an epiphone for one third the cost the main difference is the pickup quality or an ibanez for one sixth the price and plays just as well.

"Pretty good Les Paul."

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This is a quality guitar, but not for me. Right now I think I either want the 61 Reissue SG or a Custom Les Paul with Burstbuckers. If you're getting a gibson you should get one with either burbuckers or 57 classic pick ups.
Sound
Great sound with distortion, not so much with clean. For me I prefer either 57 classics or burstbucker pick ups, rather than these.
Features
rosewood fingerboard, wish it had better pick ups. I love the neck on this guitar.
Ease of Use
Great neck, very fast and easy to play. However, like all Les Pauls, this guitar is very heavy.
Quality
It's a gibson, what do you expect?
Value
definitely overpriced. You're probably better off getting a SG or spend a little more money for a Les Paul worth it, such as the standard.
Manufacturer Support
don't know, but I'm assuming it's good.
The Wow Factor
I think Les Pauls are one of the best looking guitars out there. If you get this in a honeyburst color you just can't get any better than that.

"Get one before it's to late!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Unbelievable. Way better than i expected. I wrote a review a year ago talking about how great it was,but i had no idea. Nothing wrong with it. I don't get why Gibson discontinued it. Thats why i ran out and bought mine. Go get one before its to late. There selling quickly. Rock On
Sound
I love the sound of the 2 humbuckers. Alot of people say the 498 & 500 are purely for rock and not for clean sounding. Man are they wrong! The 500t is very hot and is not great for clean but truly amazing for rock sound. The 498r is a great p'up for clean. It's got great sustain an tone. Just awesome!!!!
Features
The features are great. Regular LP features, awesome quality.
Ease of Use
The neck is nice and smooth and fast. This things pretty heavy, but this is coming from a strat owner. I'm sure i will get used to it after a while, and is not bad when your sitting down.
Quality
This thing is a tank! I always knew gibsons had great quality, but everything on this guitar is the best of quality and will deffinetly outlast me if I take care of it.
Value
It's a bit expensive, but for a guitar of this caliber it's nothing.
Manufacturer Support
I called customer service the day i bought to see how you set the combination for the lock on the case.(1-800-4-gibson) And the guy was very happy and sent me on my way quickly.
The Wow Factor
Mine is a gold top, and has awesome wood grain on the back. It looks very vintage with the exposed humbuckers. The inlays are very cool looking an gives it that signature LP look.It is beautiful, and when i look at it i just want to hold it in my arms again.

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This guitar is amazing and the best one I have ever played. It looks perfect, sounds perfect, and feels perfect. I am saving the money up for this beauty right now.
Sound
The Les Paul Classic I played was by far the best sounding guitar I have ever played. The pick-ups were super hot and it just sounded amazing. I compared it to LP Standards, LP Studios, and a LP Custom, and the Classic blew them all a way.
Features
The Features are Average and all you need. Two Tone. Two Volume.
Ease of Use
The Sixties neck was fast and very smooth.
Quality
The quality was 100% as all LP's usually are.
Value
ALL Gibson's are over priced, but you definitely get what you pay for with the Classic.
Manufacturer Support

The Wow Factor
The Wine Red Maple Top was beautiful. The Trapezoid Inlays Had a slight green tint in them making them look very vintage and cool. And Les Pauls are the coolest guitars around.

i will keep it in the closet to let it go up in value for some other sucker to pay to much for this just ok guitar
Sound
well i have had my custom for about a year and i think the value is horrible for 1500 dollars it sould sound alot better then my red import china 139.00 cheepie...it just does not sound that much better and with the right strings my china import has better sustain and its sealed better around the top...hummmmm
Features
could use a tremelo bar for this price it should have one
Ease of Use
with the right strings it is very playable and stays in tune for about an hour of hard playing..ok but could be better
Quality
real disapointed at the product now as compaired to any of the old ones, they just are not built any better than an ibanez at 325 dollars and sounds the same as my china import
Value
if you take the bibson name off it it's the same as any china or mexican import..some china imports are better and lots of mexican imports a alot better/ at a fraction of the cost!!!!!

"Les Paul Classic + Seymour Duncans = Heaven"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I'll never sell mine. I'm so happy with it it's part of my life. My friends actually greet me asking "And how's Les" :-)
Sound
This guitar sounds beautifull! I have it with "cooler" Seymour Duncans Seth Lover (bridge) and Pearly Gates (neck) and it is clasic smooth. I used to have a Alnico II Pro on the neck which gives it a very rich tone but the extra sizzle of the Pearly Gates just suits this guitar. This guitar even sounds amazing with the Pearly Gates with its single coil wiring! I've actually set up the tone pot to give me a range from full humbucker to single coil- smooth rhythm to saturated lead. Gorgeous So if you love the slim neck but not necesarily want the hot pickups and aim for a classic sound get this bird and a couple of Seymour Duncans!
Features
Six strings, lots of pretty details, a hard case.
Quality
Everything is made to last a lifetime.
Value
It's worth every cent, but it's not a steal.
The Wow Factor
I wanted one from the second I started playing guitar and I had this mayor itch until I got one!

"A well priced LP to die for!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
What are you waiting for...go buy one!
Sound
As an owner of an american delux stratocaster, and a vintage 70's Guild solidbody, choosing a guiutar that would outdo the others in my collection was not a walk in the park. The second i took the LP classic for a testrun and heard the bark of the high output pickups i was sold. Cheaper and better sounding than the LP standard.
Features
Two ceramic humbuckers, mohogany neck and body, what else can you ask for?
Quality
top shelf, grade A meat!
Value
This guitar outplays the LP standard and is a few hundred bucks cheaper.
Manufacturer Support
Given the fact that this guitar was given to me as a gift from the company, I'd have to say that the support truly does not get any better.
The Wow Factor
Ive come to a very humorous realization. This message board has a few people who chose to bash this guitar, well most likely their problem with it is that they can not afford one and are jealous.
