"DON'T LET THE"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I plan to have this guitar forever. It is the overall best guitar deal out there.
Sound
Standard pickups sound great. I prefer a fatter sound, thought, so I changed them for a set of Texas specials. It's perfect now. The bridge pickup sounded good. It was very twangy. The bridge pickup was very mellow. For the price, This is a very nice sounding guitar. Like I said, if you want a better sound, just swap the pickups for Texas Specials or Vintage Noisless.
Features
It didn't come with a case, but for the price you can't whine. I love the simplicity of the master volume and tone controls with 3-way switch. The less to mess with the better. I really wanted a 50's Tele, but with the pickup upgrade, it sounds much better with less invested.
Quality
Most beutiful guitar I've ever seen at this price! The American Tele's are better made, but not that much better to warrant an increase of $500. The neck is perfectly finnished with even frets. It is very comfortable with rolled edges. Very slim neck and it is so smooth, it feels like glass. The finnish on the body is just as impeccable. Very beutiful, glossy finnish. I honestly feel that you can't get any more bang for your than you can with a Fender guitar. Especially with their standard series.
Value
Like I said earlier, you can't get a better guitar for $350 anywhere. I always have and always will believe that Fender makes the absolute best guitars, dollar for dollar, in the world.
Manufacturer Support
I haven't had to contact Fender. This guitar is so well made, I don't think you should have any problems with it anyway. Registering the warranty was fast and simple at Fender.com.
The Wow Factor
I've always loved Telecasters. They really appeal to me. I like to play classic country and blues. This guitar does it all. I got the blue version, and it looks great. I wouldn't trade or sell this guitar for anything.

"Telling on Tele's"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
I will wear the frets out before I look elsewhere. I would keep an S-S-H guitar around to catch some specific sounds unto themselves, but for 90% of classic rock, you can rock the place well.
Sound
For the dollar, this fender guitar sounds and plays much better than guitars I own that cost two to three times as much. In fact, it plays and sounds so crisp I have two of them. One I upgraded to albino pup with boost for crisp treble leads, and one I left stock to have more tone control from Skynard to SRV, it will play the gambit.
Features
The componets are a little underwound in my opinion, but for the playing neck, action, apperance, and overall cost, you can upgrade for a few hundred dollars and be playing a Tele that costs a grand or better.
Ease of Use
Three selections bridge, both, or neck. Very easy to play, blends nicely with line-6, marshall, peavey or fender amps I have played it through.
Quality
KEEP THEM BOTH WITH ME FOR DIFFERENT SETS, DON'T NEED ONE FOR A BACK-UP
Value
Worth more than it's selling price compared to ANY guitar in it's price range.
Manufacturer Support
Knowledge staff, simple answers, few questions, mostly about how color looked in person.
The Wow Factor
Telecaster is unique to itself, there is only ONE.

"2008 Mexican Standard Tele"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
With the exception of the pickups imo (which i replaced w/2006 anniversary's), this thing is awesome!!!
Sound
I own a 2006 anniversary model, and just bought the 2008 (black) version. The only noticeable difference in sounds between the two is the pickups. The 2006 anniversary came w/specialized pickups, which sound more well-rounded than the 2008 pu's imo, for both clean & overdriven tones. (The 2006 anniversary pu's can still be ordered from Fender).
Ease of Use
The maple neck on mine is fast, and easy to play.
Quality
Superb quality. Arrived w/an absolutely flawless paintjob; stays in tune very well.
Value
If you find a better sounding tele for this price, or any price I would be surprised.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't needed it.

"Fender Broke the Mold on This One"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I will use this guitar until I die, it's that good. The only reason I have two is for shows, neither of them ever needed replacing. If this guitar were lost or stolen, I'd cry for a while, sign online, and order another one. The Telecaster just can't be beat.
Sound
I have owned two of these now, and both have been incredible. I have never gotten so much sustain out of a stock guitar. Telecaster necks have an exaggerated taper toward the headstock that takes some getting used to, but once you do it just feels right and you never want to play another kind. I use mine to play in two bands, one is mainstream rock and the other is more like hip hop, and I have done country-style jam sessions with it as well. When playing rock I use the distortion out of my Marshall, and sometimes a Crybaby wah, which this guitar has no problem agreeing with, and when playing elsewhere I have a Zoom multieffects processor that the Tele shines beautifully through. It has no problem at low or high volume levels, especially when using a dependable amp, and no problem when plugged straight into a PA or a recording device. Sometimes I even use mine pluggged straight into a computer for recording. You just can't argue with the original, and the Telecaster is definitely the standard in great guitars.
Features
For some reason the Telecasters I've had have always had a hard time fallig out of tune, which makes them great for live shows. The controls are in just te right spot for quick switching but are just out of the way enough that if you strum heavily you won't knock them around. The chrome knobs are very sleek, and the matching hardware suits just fine. The poplar body is ideal for sustain and clarity, and I don't know of any other guitar that is made stock with a poplar body. The two spedcial single-coil pickups are great for any sound and they both handle well on their own. The maple neck, when set right, is fast and like I said before it takes some getting used to but once you do it's fantastic. The only thing I can think of that I ever replaced that I can recommend replacing is the nut, which is just standard plastic, so I made mine bone.
Quality
When you're dealing with Fender, you don't ever need to worry about craftsmanship. Ever.
Value
For under $400, for under $1000 for that matter, you just don't get a better guitar.
Manufacturer Support
I've never had to reach anyone about the guitar, so I don't really know how it is. I doubt you would ever have to either.
The Wow Factor
I bought the arctic white and black model, which are insanely beautiful especially with the black strings I use. The single cutaway design is a flawless countour and anyone who knows guitars can tell you what it is without even seeing the Fender logo.

"Standard MIM Telecaster."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This thing is built like a tank. I'm 51 years old. This guitar will out live me by many years.
Sound
Neck PUP is is outstanding. The bridge PUP is a different story. Too tinny sounding by itself. Aside from that it sounds very good. Nice clean side and with some distortion you can get that blues sound.
Features
It's a Telecaster. I didn't buy it for features.
Ease of Use
This one has a butter smooth neck and nice low action and no fret buzz at all. Great for fast solos.
Quality
Not a single flaw. This thing didn't ever require a set up. Mine is finished in a beautiful wine red color.
Value
An excellent well made guitar for around $400.00. It plays better than the American ones I tried while shopping for this one.
Manufacturer Support
Never needed any so I can really say.
The Wow Factor
Beautiful classic looks. I've always liked the Tele body shape.

"Playing this guitar is the best part of my day."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
An amazing guitar that's fun as hell to play. I should mention that I traded in my $650 Jackson to get this "Cheaper" guitar. I've had this for several months and I don't regret it at all. Just a warning, it's a little harder to shred on this guitar, but still very possible. Otherwise, it's excellent for blues, country, rock, metal (With a pickup upgrade)... Hell just about anything.
Sound
Probably my only complaint. It's not bad at all, but that's the thing. The pick ups are pretty average I'd say. Nothing wrong with that though. For the price, an upgrade can still be pretty affordable.
Features
The only thing that came with the guitar was the guitar itself. I gave it a ten because for the value, it's an amazing deal.
Quality
Incredibly durrable... Unlike alot of the mean looking, shred guitars out there, this thing WON'T snap like a twig.
Value
Best guitar for the price. Personally, I feel that this Mexican made model is a better value than some of the more expensive tele's.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't had any problems.
The Wow Factor
Looks gorgeous. Most over the top guitars are sleazy, this thing is down right sexy. I'd have to say that my favorite thing about this guitar is the fretboard and how wide it is. Also, the simplicity of the switches is a pleasant change.

"Excellent guitar to own."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I owned one of these in '98. Sold it a year later for an Ibanez and regretted it since. That's why I bought this one last month and it's even better than the last one. This guitar has an awesome feel to it and the maple neck gives a bright, twangy ,tele sound.
Sound
Great clean sound.Excellent tone.Sounds good with grunge distortion.Great for blues and rock, and all styles.
Features
Bought this over a strat because of ability to use front and rear pickups at the same time. Each pickup sounds good by itself too. Fast neck feels awesome.
Quality
Good quality. No blems to mention. I tightened tuners a little. A guitar article said to put a little chapstick under stringtree and contact points for the strings.I did it and this guitar always stays in tune.
Value
This guitar is well worth the money. Save you a bunch off the American tele.
The Wow Factor
One for the collection. A joy to play.I switched out the white pickguard for a black one($14) and it looks cool on a blue tele.

"You simply can't do better...period."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
If you want a Fender Standard Telecaster, you simply can't do any better than this. I wouldn't trade mine for an American made Tele. It's perfect for me in every way. This is simply an excellent guitar all the way around, and I'm very picky when it comes to laying out $ for a guitar (action, intonation, electronics, neck, frets, finish, etc...). I now own eight (two acoustic, six electric) very nice guitars, each one cherry-picked (locally and online) over the years. I'm proud to call my Tele one of them.
Sound
If you buy a Tele, I assume you want that Tele sound. This guitar then, is a 10, because it is a Tele, and no other guitar sounds like it. Don't let the "made in Mexico" (MIM) tag put you off. This guitar will hold its own against an American-made Tele any day. (You can get many sounds out of a Tele, depending on amp, effects, etc...but you cannot get that Gibson/Epi Les Paul crunch. So if that's what you're looking for, don't gripe abt the Tele.)
Features
Once again, a Tele is a Tele. They all come w the same stock features, and can't be better, so it's a 10.
Ease of Use
I hate to be repetative, but, unless you happen to get a lemon, a Tele is a Tele, plays like a Tele - smooth and easy - sounds like a Tele.
Quality
First, let me interject a personal note here. I never thought I would own a red guitar, but, man, that chrome red just caught my eye and that's the one I prefered. I get many nice comments abt it. Second, as to quality: everything is set up perfectly from the factory. But, here's a problem I had after the purchase (fairly common problem), and a simple hint as to how to fix it. The top of the blade switch came off after one or two days, and I don't know where or when. I went to a local music store and bought a package of 2 replacements for abt $12. If this should happen to you, or, even before it happens to you, here's the fix: take a small piece of toilet paper and insert it between the top knob and the blade switch. This puts just enough "filler" at that junction that it is very unlikely to happen again. Try it, it's been working for professional musicians for years. I've not had any more problems w it.
Value
For the money, this is an outrageous 10! Such a deal, it's unbelievable.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't had to deal w it. No problems or questions.
The Wow Factor
My chrome red Tele is just about as sexy as a Tele gets. I usually prefer a natural finish, but my Tele is one of the few exceptions. I saw it, played it, wanted it and bought it - compared to all other finishes - so, for me, it has to be a 10.

"I like the Telecaster!"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars

This guitar is a really good one. I'll be keeping it for a while. The one bad thing about this guitar is the fact that it has no doublecoils, so I will be needing another guitar at some point but that doesn't mean it isn't good.
Sound
Standard Teles just have nice sound.
Features
The features on the guitar are good enough but there aren't many. Maybe individual tone and volume for both pickups would be nice...
Quality
Very nice guitar, beautiful. Absolutely nothing wrong with Mexican guitars. I would choose this over the U.S. made version.
Value
Definately worth what I paid.
Manufacturer Support
Never had a problem so I never needed to use the support...
The Wow Factor

Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Sound
Great jingle-jangle for country, blues and rockabilly. Smooth on the warm side, cuts glass on the cold side. I don't like it with distortion; I play it in my band for the country and swing tunes we do through a fender 100 amp. It sounds beautiful with little or no distortion. Put new strings on it and you're good to go.
Features
It's simple, but if you can play well, who cares?
Quality
Rock solid.
Value
I can't think of a better value for country and 50s rockabilly than the 'Tele, especially at 350 a pop.

"Cant go wrong with a Tele."

This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
With a little care I think I'll be happy with this guitar forever. It provides an alternative sound and feel for me that i enjoy. If anything ever happened to it I would buy another just like it.
Sound
I have the Agave blue Standard Tele and it is extremely pretty. The neck feels like it is made for my hands. Great tones from all 3 switch positions, sounds great with distortion or clean. I play mine through a Fender HotRod Deluxe or a Marshall AVT 50. Both rigs are amazing with the Tele. I own 5 guitars and the Tele is one of my favorites. Very versatile.
Features
Comes with no accessories, has good quality saddles and tuners. Very nice neck and finish.
Quality
Very well made, stays in tune pretty well. I think it can take the road abuse a touring band will dish out.
Value
Cant beat it for the price. My local store sells it for 409.00 which is higher than the internet, but still worth even that price.
Manufacturer Support
I have never needed product support from Fender. I own several products: a Mex. Standard Strat, American Standard Strat, Mex Standard Tele, and a HotRod Deluxe amp. Never needed product support.
The Wow Factor
The Tele is not as sexy as a Strat, but it is a pretty alternative that feels good in your hands and plays like a dream. You cant get Tele sounds from a Strat.

"The best gutar out there."

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This is, without a doubt, the best guitar I have ever used. Period.
Sound
I have a First Act and a Schecter 7-string guitar. But I always come back to the Fender, because it sounds SOOOOOOO good. The Schecter is too boomy on the B string. The First Act is crap (I havent used it in a year). I also occasionally use my friends Strat, as well. But this is about the Fender Tele. It has a distinctive tone to it, a trebly, almost bluesy sound. I personally love it. I play heavy metal, and I prefer a higher-pitched screaming guitar sound over a low bassy guitar sound. Thig guitar provides me with that screaming lead, in conjunction with a Danelectro FAB Metal.
Features
Unfortunately, as great as this guitar is, I have to mark it down a bit on features. There is no whammy bar, which is a minus; and the tone adjustment on the guitar isnt amazing, either. It'll do, though.
Ease of Use
Its a guitar. If you have any experience playing a guitar, then youll find this guitar easy to use.
Quality
This guitar is invincible. Ive banged it on the wall, Ive hit stuff with it, and one time, I even tripped and accidentally slamed it onto a wood floor. And it STLL works like a charm.
Value
Its kind of expensive, but oh well. Its worth every penny.
Manufacturer Support
One word: Fender. But really, I will give it a 10 by default, as I have no experience with Fenders customer service.
The Wow Factor
My Fender has a brown sunburst paint job on it, and it is GORGEOUS. I also checked the other color optins, and for the most part, theyre all awesome (except the "Midnight Wine" color... ugh). If my Fender was a chick, Id lay her. OK, not really, but you get the point.

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This guitar is great if you are looking to be different and instead of buying the strat. It sounds great, the neck feels great, and looks pretty sweet. (-in brown sunburst)
Sound
The only problem with this guitar is the feedback it is horrible with the standard pick-ups you have to be standing a certain way so the feedback would disapear. other than that it has great clean and distorted tones.
Ease of Use
easy to use but depends on your amp. all there is a volume, tone, knobs and a 3-switch.
Quality
well the product is well made and all the only problem is that the neck is maple and if you play with dirty fingers or dent the neck it is noticable.
Value
Well this product for me seemed good at the time and with it being christmas and all the price was cheaper than it is now.
Manufacturer Support
haven't needed help.
The Wow Factor
well i have noticed that the guitar i have chosen was a bit feminine because the tele that i had purchased was the displayed bright blue colour(Electric Blue Metallic) but it turns out it comes it another more teal-like colour catching female attention in saying things like,"OOooOOooo your guitar is pretty." which doesn't bother me too much but if you don't want that i suggest you get the brown sunburst. (i should've gotten the brown sunburst)

i cant put this thing down its so much damn fun to play. it pretty much does it all!
Sound
great guitar, i play mostly classic rock jimmy page, joe walsh etc. and this guitar, for the price cant be beat, the pickups have their short comings but they can be replaced and you still come out way ahead price wise over an american tele
Quality
bullet proof finish on the body(sage green metalic)the neck and action was perfect right out of the box however there were some finish flaws on the neck but it didnt bother me. i striped it down and "shot it" with nitro(planed on doing it anyway) the frets needed some tlc (i'm real picky about frets)but were still playable from the factory. i swapped out the standard bridge for a vintage unit with brass saddles. tons-o-sustain, and a bit more twang.
Value
this by far is the best guitar going for the money, everyone should own one! if you just starting out or if your a working musician. i'm dead serious in saying this guitar is truly gig worthy.
Manufacturer Support
never have had to deal with fender for anything

"One terrific player and looker that will keep ticking for many years."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
It'll be playing well after I'm long gone. I can't see paying money for a more expensive tele. Mine says Made in Mexico instead of USA but it can hold it's own anywhere and any time. Alder body is a bit heavy but it gives off a good "ping" of sounds.
Sound
For the money, this MIM Standard Tele is tops in my book. It is very compatible with other teles and sounds great with my Flextone III 212. Stock pickups have a newer sound that sound pretty good. Goes well with my older country and rock-a-billy, etc. Despite it being the cheapie model, this gem is not bad at all believe me.
Features
All materials seem very good. The 9.5 " radius neck was finished perfectly as were the frets, tricolor burst is sharp looking. All in all, this low/medium priced tele isn't bad at all. I tried out several other more pricey teles and came back to this.....saving me $600 anyhow even with my buying an after market hardshell case for it, too. It deserves a good home !
Ease of Use
It plays itself. Good old Leo and his guitars are the workhorses of the industry.
Quality
My new tele had a defective neck pickup cover on it, cover was sloppy loose despite being soldered. Dealer ordered replacement pickup and it was worse than the pickup that came on it so me and dealer compromised on a set of new Seymour Duncans installed. They are on order and it goes in next Monday for change out. I like the medium jumbo frets and especially like the truss rod opening on the peghead so you don't have to remove neck to adjust relief.
Value
Very well worth the selling price. A real bargain !
Manufacturer Support
Other than above problem, all Fender instruments are pretty well put together and your dealer will help with any problems.
The Wow Factor
Sex appeal and sounds are tops with this gem and very practical to my collection of teles.

"A New Generation Texas Outlaw's take on the Fender Standard Telecaster."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
This guitar gives me the perfect versitility that I need for live sound. I play Texas Country, which blends an outlaw country sound with a lot of rock sound and a little blues, so versitility is a must. What I like least about it is the learning curve, and it takes a lot of practice to get used to, but once you have gotten over your frustration and give it a real chance, You will be pleasantly suprised.
Sound
This Guitar is always second in line as far as live sound is concerned. I play texas country music, and I have yet to find a better guitar suited to clean sound. As far as Telys are concerned, this is probably the best guitar for the money. I don't really use it in recording, so I can just say that it plays a vital role in my live sound.
Features
It's a telecaster, so too many features would be overkill. I do like the string saddles and pickups however. The saddles don't tear up the strings, and the pickups have a real bite to them. They pick up every sound with excellent clarity.
Ease of Use
There is a bit of a learning curve to this guitar. It requires a bit of practice, because you have to have a bit of skill to make this guitar sound good. It picks up sound so good, you have to know what you are playing and make sure you play it right, because on a clean channel, mistakes are obvious. Since I have never played this guitar live with any distortion, I really don't know its capabilities on that channel.
Quality
I have always had a good experience with Fender's quality control, and this guitar is no different. It doesnt go out of tune, I don't have to worry about whether or not it will break. This is my second guitar I use behind my Fender American Series Stratocaster HSS, so I play it a little less than my strat, but I have not had a single problem with it so far.
Value
This guitar is the best value for the money. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to buy a guitar. I would also recommend it as a first guitar to someone. If you learn off of this thing, you will be a better all-around guitarist as you progress, trust me.
Manufacturer Support
I have not had to worry with anything as of yet.
The Wow Factor
This guitar is pretty straight up. Mine is Black with a white pickguard and chrome plated fittings. I move around a lot with it, so I can really show off when I solo with it. It is a pretty common guitar, so even though I like it, I couldn't tell you about what others think.

"An affordable beastly Fender!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Im pretty sure i will love this guitar for a long while. When I decide to get a new guitar it will probably be real close to this guitar.
Sound
The sound is great! It gives the same great vintage tone of a tele from the 60s. The only problem i encountered was seriously noise from the pickups so i suggest getting some of those fender noiseless pickups.
Features
The neck is absolutely perfect! Its real maple and it looks great. I got the black which looks real good the best color is the black or chrome red the midnight wine is just a crappy brown. Im not a big fan of the pickups though.
Ease of Use
This is a real simple vintage guitar. Not much to figure out just dont turn the tone all the way up when you have distortion on it because it will feedback terribly.
Quality
This is Fender were talking about. Awesome quality. Its got a real maple neck and i think an ash body. The knobs are ok they come off a little though. The finish is great no scratches when it came in. I polish mine once a week too.
Value
Its just a standard tele no serious value or anything. Dont buy this guitar thinking its gonna be worth like a billion dollars in 20 years because it probably wont.
Manufacturer Support
i bought an ibanez off here a couple years ago and had to send it back b/c of scratches but other than that i havent had a single problem from zzounds. I bought another ibanez a few years back and an esp and this fender and the shipping was fast the people were helpful on the phone.
The Wow Factor
I think the Fender standard tele is a great guitar to get on any level of playing. I used to play alot of metal but starting getting into blues, jazz, and country and i think this is the perfect guitar to have for those styles of playing.

"Great Tele sound W/ no divorce attorney."

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
I've always played Gibson. I own a 98'L.P. standard,& 03'E.S.335,through Marshall amps. This Tele. didn't get me divorced. It's a great "backup" on stage and I've even used it in the studio.
Features
I got more guitar than I payed for.
Value
Once again it's more than I payed for.
The Wow Factor
Women make me lust. I play music for a living. It's got the Tele sound I wanted for about $1800.00 less than either of my other guitars. Hmm on the other hand if my wife would pay me, I'd rather have sex for a living.

An insane guitar with monster sounds in it. I couldn't see almost anything better than this!
Sound
Wow, I just love the sound!
Features
2 single-coil pickups, a 3-switch pickup control, a volume and tone knob. You can play nearly anything with this!
Ease of Use
My best guitar that I own!
Quality
Incredible!
Value
I personally think that for a guitar like this, the price should be $100 higher.
The Wow Factor
I waited a long time for the local guitar shop to get thing in. The best day of my life was the day I said that I owned a Fender Telecaster!
