"EMG's and String Through?! What could be better?"

Feature:
The EQ was a big help when I was trying to find the right setting. Now I can get a more 70's sound with the roll of a dial or an aggressive metal sound

Quality:
The EMG's are the best pickups I have ever heard. From now on I will only use EMG pickups.

Value:
The product is definately worth what I paid for it.

Desirability:
The bass I got didnt have the "sunbursty" orange, mine was see through black, and I put a chrome boihazard symbol on it so it looks even better.

Sound:
All of the strings can be heard clearly and resonate geniusly.

Ease of Use:
Insanely easy

Support:
Havn't needed it

Overall:
I plan to keep this bass as my main bass for many more years.

Submitted: 12/13/2006

Style of Music: Megadeth style 80's metal, Power metal,(every new band today sounds the same, and I dont like that

The list of upgraded, custom shop-style features on the B404 and B405 basses is almost unbelievable. First and foremost, they're neck-thru basses with incredible tone, sustain and harmonics. These gorgeous new basses also feature quilted maple tops, active EMG pickups, active EMG 3-band EQs, string-thru-body (or thru-bridge) bridges, and mahogany bodies. They ever include Grover tuners. Under the hood, ESP basses are just as impressive as they look, with extra features like double action truss rods. This truss rod is adjustable in two different directions so you'll never run into a situation where the neck has "run out of adjustment".

String-Thru Bass Bridge
Whether you want to increase overall string tension or just "beef up" your string attack, the string-thru option is a big plus. This bridge can be used in either "string-thru-body" or traditional "string from the top" configurations".

5-piece Maple/Walnut Neck
This neck design provides a very solid feel and an improved transfer of tone from the neck to the body. Increased neck stability and performance will man less frequent truss rod adjustments

Double Action Truss Rods
All ESP/LTD guitars and basses feature a 'double-action' truss rod design. Unlike a normal (single) truss rod, this one is adjustable in two different directions. This means that you'll never run into a situation where the neck has 'run out of adjustment'. Regardless of which ESP model you choose, you'll get years and years of playing enjoyment.

EMG Active Bass Pickups
When the electric bass was invented back in 1950, bass players were just glad to be heard! For decades, these classic designs (like their guitar brethren) remained largely unchanged. Over recent years, however, the electric bass' role has radically changed and instruments and their electronics have profoundly changed as well. Today, basses come fretted and fretless, with 4-, 5-, 6- or more strings, wide and narrow fingerboards, through-body and bolt-on necks, and exotic wood or even composite construction. Playing styles have evolved from plunking out the bottom of chord changes to lead bass and wild slap/thump styles.

These changes pose a formidable challenge to the electronics of a modern bass. Reproducing an extended range cleanly - both higher AND lower - taxes the abilities of conventional pickups. Slap-style playing creates transients of incredible magnitude and unusual harmonic patterns. Digital recording technology now regularly provides full, deep bass on a silent background that was impossible using analog LP technology. And the incredible variety of bass configurations that make new playing styles possible require advanced magnet structures and superwide configurations for full coverage of 5- and 6-string bass string spreads.

EMG's family of bass pickups addresses all these issues. They feature a low-impedance internal preamp that delivers a crisp, clean, and even tone from a 5-string's low B string to the top of the neck. EMG's specially tailored preamp EQ circuits deliver accurate tone with incredibly wide dynamic range (over 90dB).
