Zildjian ZXT Rock Crash Cymbal

No longer available at zZounds
With its bright, metallic sound and professional, polished look, this bronze crash cymbal is an excellent choice for a starter's drum kit.

This is a higher pitched crash with enhanced projection characteristics.

Superior Sheet Bronze Cymbals. The ZXT series offers more distinct models than any previous Zildjian sheet bronze selection. Each reflects unique lathing lines and distinctive hammering patterns designed to accentuate their sound properties. They look different because they sound different, because they are different. But the bright, powerful voice they share - the ZXT alloy- is as mighty as any Zildjian.

I kept this cymbal for about two months, until I saved up enough to get a Z Custom instead. That is a much better cymbal, and it only cost me about $40.00 more.
Sound
Let me preface my review by saying that I bought this cymbal used for about $80. My experience may have been affected by previous ownership, but this cymbal was (and remained under my ownership) completely free of any apparent cracks or defects. The cymbal sounded awful once I had it put together with my kit. It had one of the flattest crashes I have ever heard, and I can honestly say it sounded far worse than the B8 it replaced. The cymbal is thick, and it would leave a horrible sounding ring after I hit it that sounded like a doorbell. I don't know what types of metal go into it, but I would assume brass plays a factor. It's heavy, clunky, and it sounds terrible.
Quality
It works as a stop gap. If you find one in a trash can (it was probably mine) and you have literally no other option (other than starter-kit cymbals) I guess you can use it until you get the $80.00 together to buy something better. Anything better.
Value
If you just need a cymbal to hit, you can find better for less money. Maybe a drummer who hits real hard might be interested in this, but I just can't see it being useful for anyone.
The Wow Factor
Again, just a bad sounding cymbal. In my experience, almost anything would sound more musical.
