The woodworking is very nice on this guitar and the finish work. If you are planning on upgrading hardware on this guitar, then I would rate it pretty much all 5s. I will just say it, it has a plastic nut, really crap tuners and needs a proper setup likely including fretwork. What this means is that it will not stay in tune and notes will fret out. Now every guitar esp when new even expensive ones need a set up. So even if American made the moisture and humidity causes changes, this guitar comes from China to you. So we can expect that a set up is in order. Then you cannot expect a great fret job at this price point. Every Factory guitar needs this, so nothing unusual here. The tuning keys are inexcusably cheap, that is ok with me since I planned to change them anyway. I think that Gretsch owners by nature like to modify their guitars and that Gretsch has made the right choice to keep costs down by putting the money into the woodworking and finishwork. However if you see the Gretsch demo of this guitar from Gretsch, it is also out of tune. So 5 stars for value and if upgrading and 3 stars if keeping stock
