128 Channel USB MIDI Interface.

8 IN/ 8 OUT USB MIDI Interface with hardware MIDI patcher
The UM-880 is the most powerful, easy to use MIDI interface/MIDI patcher available. The vast majority of functions are available through either one or two button commands on the front panel.

With eight sets of MIDI inputs and outputs, the UM-880 lets you simultaneously control up to 128 channels. It's easy to connect to your computerÖsimply connect a USB cable and you're done. The UM-880 is hot-swappable, so you can plug and unplug the UM-880 even while your computer is on. You can also use up to four UM-880 units simultaneously, expanding your system to 512 channels.

The UM-880 features hardware MIDI patcher functionality. MIDI can be routed directly, simply by pressing the panel buttons; and there are none of the complicated settings that are all too common on software patchers. The hardware MIDI patcher makes use of HDMR (Hardware Direct MIDI Routing) technology to ensure low-latency.

The UM-880 can also act as a Stand-alone MIDI patcher with 8 memory locations where you can store patch settings.

Features:

Fast and stable MIDI data transmission realized by FPT (Fast Processing Technology of MIDI transmission)

8 sets of input/out connections can be stored into memory

"Might have one annoyance in the design, but still very good."

Sound
If it doesn't hum or buzz in the rack, it's good. In this case, the only "sound" it needs to make is "silence."
Features
Chose this one over the others, because I wanted to the versatility to use it as a standalone patchbay if needed.
Quality
Solid. Edirol has a reputation for cheap consumer gear. This one should have been presented with the Roland trademark. It's not a toy.
Value
Even if the problem I mentioned above is a total bug, it's still worth the money.
Manufacturer Support
I waited to try to get support before reviewing it. Not good. I did get an automated response to my question, but it pointed me to a knowledge base article that had been removed, whose title didn't sound very promising anyway, and that's all.
