"Great, if you want a simple, task-specific amp. Marshall sound."

Feature:
The AVT system that mimics tube amps is quite impressive, even at low volumes. It needs a footswitch (at least as an optional piece). It really doesn't HAVE many features (and honestly, a chorus or delay or SOMETHING built in for the list price would be nice. At is very straight forth. Only a separate reverb swith. Is that a feature?

Quality:
I see nothing wrong with it's construction. Quiet, tight, and good tone. Classic Marshall in a tiny little box.

Value:
Retail is a little high, unless you NEED that Marshall sound (which I decided I do), in which case, you need it. Amp sounds very nice for what it is. I DO think however a few more features at the price-point would be nice. If you don't need it to sound like a Marshall, you could get more for your money. But then again, it wouldn't sound like a Marshall

Desirability:
It's little, but you know what they say! It ain't the size of the wand, it's the magic it contains. (And whoever said that had a little Marshall...)

Sound:
If all you expect is a small "Power Amp" to play along with the CD and get your licks down in your den, and you don't expect it to fill up an auditorium, this is not a bad amp at all. You could record off of this amp, and it wouldn't sound bad. I am "borrowing" one from a friend to use to see if I like it and ultimately buy it from him. The speaker could be bigger, but again, it isn't poor by any means. An excellent practice amp. Reverb isn't great.

Support:
Not Applicable. I can download the manual from the website. That's about the extent of my questions or needs so far...

Overall:
Nice little practice amp. Great sound. If you can live the price, and the lack of features, it IS a cool little amp. I don't think I can find a 20watter that sounds like this one, but you pay for that convenience.

Style of Music: Classic Rock mostly, Blues, acoustic, anything "tight"

Feature:
Would like to see a "presence" control in the eq, but it is sufficient "as is"

Quality:
Aesthetically, THE BEST ("Marshall look"). Solidly built. Have not had a problem in my 1 year of ownership

Value:
A bit pricey, no doubt, but worth it for "the Marshall sound" Just bought my second one: one for home, one for work. Both times i tested the MG30dfx (cheaper) and both times this little 20 watt job blew the 30dfx out of the water!

Desirability:
I've always been attracted to the "Marshall mystique" ONLY play Gibsons through this baby; NOTHING sweeter than a Gibson through a Marshall--a match made in Heaven. Thank you God!

Sound:
The tube (valve) preamp section gives one "the real deal" not "sounds like" or "mimics" Also, REALLY gets LOUD. Compared it to the MG30dfx (30 watts) and the latter was blown out of the water

Support:
Don't know; haven't had to deal with, hope not to, so i rated it "neutral"

Style of Music: Heavy rock, "classic rock"

About This Product!
Description
Docs, Multimedia
The quality of the AVT20's Clean and Overdrive channels has to be heard to be believed and will redefine guitar players' expectations of low powered, compact combos. In addition to great tones the AVT20 features a CD input, Speaker Emulated DI output, Headphone jack (which mutes the speaker for "silent" practice), Extension Speaker jack, and an Accutronics reverb. All this coupled with a closed back cabinet and the all-important ECC83 (12AX7) pre-amp valve, makes this combo ideal for use in the home studio, dressing room, for back stage warm-ups or low level rehearsals. If you want quality clean and overdrive tone at manageable volume levels then the AVT20 is the way to go. This amp truly is a little monster!

What is AVT
In Marshall's quest to give players the ultimate tone at a realistic price, they have combined the latest innovations in valve, solid state, and digital technologies to achieve optimum sonic performance. AVT has evolved from their original, critically acclaimed Marshall Valvestate technology, but is vastly improved so it emulates the tone, feel, and response of their world-renowned, all-valve amplifiers with unerring accuracyá without using valves in the power stage.

Marshall's long history and experience in the field of valve amplification was utilized in the development of the new AVT power amp. This extremely responsive and warm sounding circuitry was then coupled with the specially voiced, ECC83 (a.k.a 12AX7) valve driven pre-amp section, to provide 100% valve/analog warmth from input to output. Combined with numerous user-friendly features, they believe we've created the best value-for-money range of Marshall amplifiers ever!

Valve Drive Pre-Amp
From the compact AVT20, right up to the thunderous roar of the feature packed, 4-channel AVT150H, each model in their brand new AVT line boasts a pre-amp stage that is driven by an ECC83 Dual Triode valve. Unlike certain other hybrid amps out there, this valve isn't merely acting as a pilot light. Instead it is playing the central role in the gain, distortion and tone generating circuitry. They have gone to great lengths to ensure that this precious device delivers maximum sonic benefit at all settings and volume levels. The resulting clean sounds ring with the bell-like harmonics that only a valve pre-amp can deliver and the break-up is never harsh or unnatural sounding. Whenever you select an AVT Overdrive channel, the ECC83 is saturated to its limit, providing dynamics and feel worthy of a place in the Marshall hall of fame.

Power Amp Delivery
The same, unrivalled design expertise that went into the pre-amp was also channeled into the design of the AVT power stage. Using frequency dependent power amp damping and their proprietary, dynamic clip level technology (which emulates the HT supply of a valve power amp), each AVT power stage creates the warm, musical feel and 3-dimensional sounds that made Marshall's all-valve power amps world-renowned.

Also all AVT products will deliver the goods in the often hostile and unpredictable environment of the live performance stage - which is why the AVT power amps of 50 watts and up are fan cooled for optimum reliability.

DFX Onboard
The AVT100, AVT150, AVT150H, and AVT275 all have on-board DFX (Digital Effects). Here the greatest care was taken to ensure that the highest level of signal integrity was maintained at all times. They achieved this by successfully integrating DFX into the tonal topology of AVT without adding any of the nasty-sounding, artificial "grain" often associated with DFX. To make the 16, custom-voiced DFX as controllable and user friendly as possible the relevant models are all supplied with an LED equipped foot controller which allows you to switch the amp's DFX on and off, as well as change channels.

The flexibility of the AVT150, AVT150H, and AVT275 is further enhanced by having 2 DFX sections, 1 for the Clean and Acoustic Simulator channels, and the other for the 2 Overdrive channels.

Extended Response Loudspeakers
Knowing the importance of the relationship between power amplifiers and loudspeakers, Marshall have worked extremely closely with Celestion to develop a range of speakers that will re-define the cutting edge in rock guitar reproduction. These speakers allow the compact, closed back cabinets used in the Valvestate 2000 AVT range to maintain the bottom end delivery normally associated only with a full 4x12 extension cabinet set-up.
