About This Product!
Description
It all begins with the transformer. Gallien-Krueger uses toroids. They cost more, but are lightweight, do not induce hum into pickups, and really pack a punch! They generate the tremendous currents required to maintain cone control at high power levels (reduced farting), by using extra output devices and sophisticated SOA protection circuits. This also costs more, but will deliver up to 10 times the current of other comparable amplifiers. Finally, a temperature controlled, variable speed fan keeps everything cool, so when push comes to shove, and you really need to lean on your amp, you've gotá Extreme Sound!

Bi-Amp Advantages
Most players want a little growl in their sound, which comes from riding the rails. Due to horn distortion, this technique does not work with passive, full-range systems. In a 700RB or 1001RB Bi-Amp system, the horn is driven from a separate 50W power amp that doesn't distort when you push your sound to the rails. This means you can get all of the growl and keep the articulation from the horn. Bi-Amp systems also put the horn control on the amplifier front panel, making your life just a little easier.

A Word from Founder Robert Gallien
"I have never seen the point in doing things the way others have done them. I also have not been very interested in following the latest fad. I am a Stanford educated engineer who worked his way through school as a musician. Like all musicians, I have lugged amplifiers up plenty of stairways, only to deal with funky power, and a stage that is too small."

"As I am the principal innovator at GK, our products tend to reflect my attitudes and life experiences. I don't model my designs after other manufacturer's products (as some of our competitors are proud of reciting). Instead, I believe new and old problems are best solved with new solutions. Having taken our own path, GK products enjoy a unique, unmatched sound, allowing the artist using them every opportunity to make an original statement."

"Having supported my products for over thirty years, I have learned from the story they tell. Gallien-Krueger is a reflection of that story, and has a commitment to support its legacy. Just as the products I created 30 years ago are still telling their story, the products we create today will be talking to us tomorrow."
