"I LOVE MY J-45 ONLY SLIGHTLY LESS THAN I LOVE MY WIFE."

Feature:
It came with a quality Gibson case(though most cases these days are of pretty good quality; many Gibson cases are made in Canada, even....like me!) The Fishman pickup system was a nice added feature; It produces a nice, accurate accoustic tone... with not so much of the "tinniness" that some systems have. What really makes this instrument specail, though, is the Rosewood! IMHO, the Rosewood model is the nicest sounding of all the J-45's.

Quality:
I have yet to find a single physical problem with this guitar; the finish, as far as I can see, is flawless; ditto the fretboard & what I can see of the internal structure; the neck is well attached & straight, the truss rod works normally. The machine heads are very accurate and strong..it holds it's tune very well, through bends and slides and agressive playing. A+ here....

Value:
The average retail price for this guitar is more than fair, by comparison to other guitars in the same price range.

Desirability:
RRRRROOOOOOOOSSSSEEEEEWWWWWWOOODDDDD!!!!! The sound produced by this wood is incredible; not to mention the awesome scent that radiats from the sound hole when you play...

Sound:
I guess that I must have gotten one of "the Good" ones, because mine has that beautiful J-45 tone, in spades. From the moment I picked it up in the shop, this was the one I chose over all the rest. Imagine my surprise and good fortune to find that it was a "used"(2007)model, that someone had traded for an SJ... and the asking price was only $1399.00! Even though I was vacationing in WA state, and had not intended on buying another guitar, I had to take it home.

Ease of Use:
I'm pretty sure that the previous owner set a lower than normal action on this guitar; you merely have to whisper to the strings to produce chords. Really a dream to play, it honestly feels more like an electric fretboard than acoustic...

Support:
I have never had to avail Gibson for support, I own 2 other Gibson Guitars....but I am sure they would stand firmly behind their product. In the instances where I have contacted them, their responses were prompt & helpful

Overall:
I have been playing guitar for 30 years now, and this is the first Gibson acoustic I have ever owned; If(my)luck holds, it will surely last me another 30 years, like so many of the 40's and 50's J-45's that are still being played today.

"Great IF you get a good one BUT watch out for lemons"

Feature:
Good pickup system in these. Thats about all the features you can get on an acoustic.

Quality:
Heres where I have to drop the bar on my rating. I love these guitars BUT there is a big failure rate with Gibsons. When you find a good J45 then its heaven however there are many lemons out there. I check the music stores regular for the perfect specimen and have been horrified at some of the crappy ones. Bad neck joint, bad truss rods and the famous Gibson finish problems. THis is inexcusable. WHile I love the rosewood 45 when its good I cant overlook how many Gibsons are bad. This goes for their entire line including electrics. My friend bought a $3500 Les Paul Custom are frets starting popping out of the wood.

Value:
Expensive. If all of them were keepers then I'd give this a better rating. Its the failure rate that makes me give this a 7. They arent paying enough attention for what they are charging.

Desirability:
I cant rate anything to high here. Dumb category

Sound:
I love the sound of the rosewood 45. Much much better than the plain mahogany.

Overall:
Gibson, get your act together and deliver consistent quality products and you'll be kings again.

About This Product!
Description
For the J-45 lover who desires a Rosewood guitar with other upgraded features. Equipped with transducer pickup.

The J-45 has been a bestseller since the 1940's and nicknamed by artists as "The Workhorse." Equipped with transducer pickup, other features include a round shoulder body style, solid Spruce Top, solid Mahogany back and sides, and Rosewood fretboard and bridge wood.

In today's world, many acoustic guitar manufacturers have chosen to build their instruments more quickly, cheaply, and in greater numbers.

Gibson acoustic guitars are made one-at-a-time, by hand. No shortcuts. No substitutions. They're made in Bozeman, Montana, where the climatic conditions are ideal for guitar building. Most importantly, Gibson acoustic guitars are built by master craftspeople that have dedicated their lives to building the world's finest acoustic instruments.

These elements combine to create the difference that is the Gibson acoustic guitar. The difference is "MasterBuilt."

Environment
Even though they might get a little more snow up there, the environs of Bozeman, Montana are a guitar builder's dream, come true.

Extreme heat and high humidity are natural enemies of wood. Bozeman has neither. The fine Spruces, Maples, Mahoganies, and Rosewoods are carefully cured and environmentally maintained during the building process.

There are other advantages to Montana in addition to its ideal climate. Gibson's acoustic guitars rely heavily on its builder's sense of creativity and concentration. Living in "Big Sky Country" appears to nurture both of these needs. It seems that looking out over a range of snow covered mountains every morning makes for inspired guitar building - which, in turn, makes for inspired guitars.

Artistry
Experienced builders and players understand that handmade quality, design and construction determine an instrument's ability to produce truly beautiful sound. Gibson's methods of handmaking guitars have remained unchanged for nearly a century.

The top brace of each guitar is carefully scalloped and arched to focus the sound to the center of the soundhole. The resulting distinctive "Gibson Tone" shares the same vibrance and fidelity as the sound from a fine audio speaker.

Instead of a cheaper bolt-on neck, Gibson's dovetail joint technique creates a cohesive bond between the vibrating neck and body - almost as if the guitar were carved from a single piece of wood. This time-honored technique effectively transfers the strings' vibrations directly into the wood for superior tone and unsurpassed resonance.

Finally, unlike other manufacturers, Gibson still uses its famous "violin-like" lacquer finish. Over the years, the complex makeup of the lacquer merges with the wood, further sweetening the instrument's tone and providing an unmistakable "vintage" look and feel that players and collectors have come to cherish.

Each Gibson acoustic guitar is full of expression, character and exquisite beauty. None is ordinary, and no 2 are alike. When compared to a marketplace full of "lookalikes," the differences of a MasterBuilt Gibson acoustic are unmatched in quality and performance.

Warranty
In 1894, in a 1-man shop in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Orville Gibson created a new family of guitars and mandolins that would inspire generations of craftsmen to produce some of the finest instruments the world has ever heard or seen. The Gibson Mandolin-Guitar Co., Ltd., was formed on October 10, 1902, to build instruments that carry on not only Orville's designs but also his conviction to quality.

Gibson celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1994 with the spirit of Orville still going strong. Gibson's combination of traditional craftsmanship and innovative technology has made Gibson the only company that produces industry standard models in every style of fretted instrument, from electric and acoustic guitars to mandolins, banjos, and resonator guitars.

The Gibson Gold Warranty carries on the tradition of the limited lifetime warranty introduced by the company's founders. It represents their commitment to producing the world's finest musical instruments and providing complete customer satisfaction.
