"D'Addario Phospher Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings Rawk!...and Here's Why!"

Sound:
The sound of D'Addario Phospher Bronze strings are bright and consistent, but have a warmth where it's needed. They ring out with magesty, fire and make your guitar dreams come to live. How's that for hype? :) My style of playing could be described loosely as fingerstyle, but with great spirit (not New Age, folks..don't hurt my feelings. hehe.) Whether I'm playing soft arpeggiated runs or hard core strumming (I don't usually use picks), these strings hold up. I don't notice any great degradation in tone for nearly a week to a week 1/2, but keep in mind..I play for 3-4 hours a day if I can. I never hold back, and my neighbors downstairs probably know as well as I do, these strings rawk! hehe.. I have to change the strings by about a week and 1/2..the first string to "die" is usually the 6th..E string. I can immediately hear the deadened tone by that time.. Now, if you're a light strummer, I imagine the strings will last you longer than they last me and you might not notice the deadening sound or necessarily care til yer ears get trained. Wiping down the strings also helps. Don't be lazy! Strings ain't cheap (except on Zzounds!) I play Ovation and when I plug IN, the sound is equally sweet. But, bare in mind, your sound is only as good as the PA system, your pickup and/or the engineer...don't blame it on the string, people. It's not it's fault. IMHO. I recently recorded a five song demo of instrumental guitar music with my Ovation (shallowbody)and only miked the guitar. I did NOT plug in for this..and I gotta say, it's a nice recording. The string tone shone through right nicely, even on a "skinny" guitar. One thing, I rarely run effects through my Ovation, not even Chorus (God forbid!)...I play straight through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. I do not believe in "acoustic amps". The warmth of that amplifier only contributes to the tone of the strings and makes it better, whereas I've found on acoustic amps, it tends to have a drier, thinner, "planky" sound. One of the most practical and sensible things D'addario did was put colored ball ends on them. Don't laugh. The company as a whole is enviromental consious and looks after the needs of the planet Earth, as well as their regular customers. Gotta love that. I support any major corporation that understands the importance of giving something *back* to it's customers or the community.. The Player's Points program. I think my wardrobe is officially sponsered by them, now. I have several T-shirts, denim long sleeve shirt, a nice wooden stole, glasses, mugs, hats and a new lawn (quad) chair...all kinds of swag. You can never have enough swag! haha! D'Addario also supports artists in general. Check 'em out. I can't think of how to make this strings any better, other than to simply lower it's cost. But, oh well...I guess they gotta pay the rent just like us. Go figure! Vikki Blankenship Writer of solo instrumental guitar music, instructor, performer and soon to be, recording artist.

About This Product!
Description
D'Addario's Phosphor Bronze strings are durable, long lasting, and produce a bright sound. They retain brilliance longer than other bronze and brass alloys.

About D'Addario Strings
The devil is always in the details, and sweating the details has been a family tradition at D'Addario for nine generations. Just look at something as simple as our plain steel guitar strings. They pay more to have their ball ends precision turned from solid brass stock. The edges have radii that prevent the ball end from cutting into wooden bridges or guitar tops.

Each string is twisted to perfection right down to the three neatly wrapped "lock twists." And those lock twists help keep our plain steel strings from unraveling or breaking prematurely. Each and every spool of precision drawn high carbon steel wire we use goes through three quality control tests before it hits our inventory shelves.

Pioneering innovative string design has been a D'Addario family tradition for nine generations. Most guitar players don't realize that the inner core wire in all D'Addario steel strings is made from carefully drawn, hexagonally shaped, high carbon steel wire. The six "edges" of the core wire bite into the softer wrap wire, securing it all along its length. The hexagon core is just one of the reasons D'Addario strings are "Better by Design." Hexagonally shaped high carbon steel core wire. Core wire edges dig in to the wrap wire to insure a tight bond between the core and the wrap wire.
