You can get some really lush tones if you dial the lofi side in. The compressor side of this pedal is super strong and oddly will really make your tone bright and spanky. But it’s a zvex so this thing can make some crazy noises like your 80’s vcr tracking knob is broken and it’s eating your tape. it’s alot if ideas jammed in one box. If you don’t like lofi tunes it’s really not for you. Ya it’s a bit noisey but a proper power supply helps calm that down or slap a noise gate in front of it for total silence.

I’ve finally found a modulation pedal I like. I own a couple other choruses from EHX and Boss, phasers and flangers too. Even a custom built Univibe clone, and until now the only modulation I’ve liked has been the tremolo (Fender calls it vibrato for reasons unknown to me) built into my ‘65 TRRI. But I like this one. I really like this one. It can be overwhelming and do pretty extreme things, but it can also be subtle and mellow, useful. Blending in the compressor brings clarity and presence and rolling back the tone knob on the lofi circuit, especially set to the triangle wave, gives just enough sparkle to thicken it up just a hair without sounding straight out of the eighties. I got it to do a warped vinyl effect for a track, and now I’m using it on other tracks set as I explained above. It’s pretty but not a diva, and that’s rare among choruses. The sideways layout, which I have always avoided, is useful in that I can place it above a little remote switch I use for my delay. I’m finally happy with a modulation pedal.

Very specific and subtle sound, but if youre like me, one listen and you gotta have it. No matter the setting it can be an always on effect. The comp side is nice and squishy while a low depth and rate lofi gives smooth grainy warble that is almost unnoticeable, but turn it off after a minute and you realize its charm. It pairs well with other modulation and time based effects, but I have only experimented a little.

this is a bittersweet pedal. On one end, i love the warmth this thing produces, although it is a bit noisy, It sounds good for recording your own lofi samples but i can see this pedal being a soundmans nightmare. i only use it for quieter parts of a performance. Noiseless pickups would probbaly help with that. Other then that its a pretty good compressor and can produce chorus like effects. good for that tape warble.
