The Yamaha modx8 is a wonderful keyboard overall, I picked up this board about 8 months ago. From that point it's been a joy exploring. I am a musician that travels and plays out regularly. However the downside to this keyboard it's in its hardware. For the price point to be what it is I expected the mechanics to work better. Don't get me wrong the sounds are great.. However not even a month after I got the keyboard some of the keys started to stick and crack. Parts of my touchscreen is unresponsive. This makes the workflow frustrating. Overall if you're serious keyboard player I would recommend you spend the extra money for the montage. This is a great sounding board built Cheaply.

Heard it has same engine as Montage. So, got it to see if there was any truth to all aspects of it. Well..... the MODX8 has surpassed my expectations. Biggest wow factors: #1) Layer sounds...super!!, #2) ease of quick recording with rhythms, #3) quality of pianos, guitar, strings, violin...out of this world!!! It's a montage at 1/2 the price. NOTE: I first got the MODX6...key-bed bad for serious piano players. Same with MOD7...same key-bed as MOD6. LOVE my MODX8!!

Features
OMG!! Playing guitar on MODX8 sound as if you are playing an actual acoustic or electric guitar. The acoustic renditions and digital resolutions are beyond what I expected.
Ease of Use
Biggest help is the large touch screen!!! Because of it, I barely use numbs and buttons....especially when you can enter key words for searching.
Quality
The built quality is fine in exchange for the light weight. Much better than the M6 or M7. Great travel keyboard.

100% worth the current price.

The Wow Factor
I light how light it is, most of all...the quality and qty of sounds it comes with. I literally have a Montage without the extra weight and price.
