"Exceeded my expectations"

I'm a long time guitar player - over 50 years. I've owned dozens of guitars and have a stable today of some very fine acoustics, three I've purchased from zZounds, and I can't say enough good things about them. For a very long time I've fantasied about a guitar that unplugged could produce reverb and chorus (and delay). When Yamaha came out with these Trans-acoustics I was skeptical to say the least. Like I said, it was a fantasy and not something I thought possible. So, I figured it was a gimmick, probably a cheap replication just good enough to get by. I listened to some demos on line, but it's hard to tell unless you actually hear them in person. I finally had to take a chance as it was something I'd wanted for a long time. I was impressed by the build specs and had owned a LL5ce in the 80's and it was a great guitar (still have it). Top: Solid Engelmann Spruce A.R.E. - Back & sides: Solid Rosewood, Fingerboard: Ebony - Neck wood: Mahogany, plus Rosewood 5-ply, Maple binding and gold tuners. Other nice appointments too. I figured even if the effects were bad the guitar itself was made of first class wood and steel, and by Yamaha. At the price that alone made it worth the purchase. Also a very nice, sturdy gig case. Out of the case came one beautiful guitar (sunburst). Stunning. I loosened the strings and sanded down the saddle a bit and tightened up the truss rod until I had the action right where I wanted it. No buzzing at all. I loaded the batteries in the easy to open case and held my breath. First, I played with no effects on and was quite pleased with the tones, sustain and neck. Then I opened up the effects. Went with both reverb and chorus together and broke into Dust in the Wind. OMG, I couldn't believe my ears. It sounded amped up with excellent effects. Sustain was amazing. My mate, also a player, came into the room and asked what in the world was that amazing sound. (no amp in room). Well, I could go on but you see I'm sold. My biggest fear is that I recently bought a Taylor 714ce for 3X the money, and I can't put the TA down. I love it.

"Pure Yamaha Goodness!"

This guitar is just fantastic. From the feel of the neck, the way it projects, the sound, the looks and the reverb and chorus effects are just lagniappe! I have owned Gibson, Martin, Seagull and several others, and while I have enjoyed all of them, this guitar has the best feel of any acoustic guitar I have picked up and it sounds just as good as the others. This guitar is a steal! The only issue I had was that the zZounds site said it came with a hardshell case, but it was actually a soft/padded case (nicer than a gig bag). But zZounds made it right. I have been shopping zZounds for several years now, and wish I had started sooner. Great service all the way around, and the Pay as You Play rules! Thanks zZounds.

zZounds -Love these folks-outstanding service. After I played this I was hooked on the sound quality even without the transaccoustics. Turn on the TA and prepared to be wowed. I sold a $3,000 Taylor as I love this guitar.

I stopped by a local Music store and took one of these smallish Yamaha acoustics off of the wall. I've been playing over 50 years. Owned a Hummingbird, a Martin D-41, a beautiful old, black Takamine, a Guild D-50...and I always knew Yamaha had made some nice acoustics. This guitar sounds great, has good string height and intonation....and a very sweet tone. I decided right there that I'd go online to. zZounds and order one with a natural finish and gig bag..Mine will arrive in 2 days, and I can't wait to see and play it.You can pass this one down in your family. It's THAT good!

"Amazing guitar with one big (to me!) issue!"

I just purchased this guitar new from another site. Even though I love it and it sounds amazing! It also came pretty setup right out of the box. I am NOT a fan of attaching my strap to the headstock. Not a big enough issue to send it back (almost!), but it would have caused me to choose a different instrument had I noticed it before buying it! Didn’t see this issue mentioned in any other reviews, so I figured it may help someone else? Bet I’ll make sure there’s a strap pin on/around the neck next time! Oh well, you live and you learn!

The LS-TA is an inferior made guitar. While the instrument sounds ok, the frets are made of butter. They wore out in absolutely no time. I have played guitar for more than 50 years and own many acoustic guitars. This is the worst one I have ever owned. As long as you do not mind having to pay for a re-fret in about a years worth of playing, than this is the guitar for you. I am paying for a re-fret and then selling the guitar. It is that bad. There are too many choices out there, in the same price range. So do yourself a favor and don't buy the Yamaha. Also; they would not stand behind their product and fix it. Bad company, bad service and bad guitar.
