Vox Joe Satriani Satchurator Distortion Pedal

Designed to Joe Satriani's specifications, this distortion pedal is capable of high gain but operates at a lower volume, and keeps the guitar's natural tone.

This is the only distortion pedal I will ever need.
Sound
The thing sounds incredible, straight out of the box. I place a MXR/CAE boost behind it for volume on solos, and it sounds great. It works well with a wah, phaser, flanger, anything I have been able to get my hands on to play it with. I haven't been able to coax a convincing country sound out of it, but I haven't tried really hard, either, because I love what I get, pure rock awesomeness!
Features
The features? Incredible sound that makes you want to play for days.
Ease of Use
I plugged it in, set all the knobs at 1 O'Clock and turned up. It sounded incredible, like an awesome tube amp. I have never played through a pedal that instantly sounded awesome. It is simple, and yet there is a great deal of variety able to be achieved in its tone. I compared it to the Steve Vai Jemini pedal, which I have yet to be able to get a decent sound out of, even using "Steve's personal settings" indicated in the instructions.
Quality
It seems built like a tank, and looks great, no loose connections.
Value
Buy it today. Or don't, because I will be perfectly content to sound better than you if you don't. I will gladly get rid of all my other distortion pedals and keep this one.
Manufacturer Support
I have had no contact with VOX.
The Wow Factor
It being a "signature" pedal is actually a deterrent for me, but it sounds amazing. I bought it for my job, and was blown away. It looks great, but the sound is what made me want to take it home.

"No noise, no menus, no plastic, real equipment, real distortion."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I expect this pedal to last for years. In a side by side in store comparison with several other metal crunch style pedals this one was the easiest to use (by far) and had the over all best sound. If lost I would get yet another one.
Sound
When combined with the right equipment it does the trick. Very powerful punchy precussive distortion. I use it with a Crate Blue Voodoo 120 on the clean channel. I play Ibenez RG550 guitars. It drives the 6L6 tubes into Hell. Much better than my channel 2 preamp which is a very good preamp but way too noisey. No floor noise on this baby!! Nothing but pristine ugly.
Features
Does what it needs to do. Great overdrive distortion. The boost or "more" swith does very little unless you initialy turn the volume down which kind of defeats the purpose in my mind. I will continue to use my wah to accentuate my solos the old fashion Jimmy Page way.
Ease of Use
I love the chicken knobs. Easy to see settings in low lighting. No menus no digital crap to deal with.
Quality
Rock solid metal construction. Real metal switches. Could be used as a blunt instrument weapon.
Value
VOX is a bit proud of all their stuff, but considering the construction of this pedal, it rates as a professional piece of sound equipment. Road worthy!

The Wow Factor
Quiet deathly distortion. Very easy to tweak. Vintage look. Solid construction. Nice paint job. Killer knobs and switches.

"Satchurator is for shredders"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I sold this 3 days after A/B ing with other sounds.
Sound
This does exactly what you want it too do if you want to sound like Joe Satriani or Steve Vai. It is great for that - but otherwise - its very thin sounding compared to other high end pedals. It is too generic sounding for my own taste however.
Features
Features are great - there is MUCH variation in tone with minimal tweaking - still all a bit generic sounding though.
Ease of Use
couldnt be easier.
Quality
Seems great - no problems.
Value
A great price for instant Joe or Steve sounds.
Manufacturer Support
Havent needed support.
The Wow Factor
Like i mentioned - it has great qualities - just not for my needs which are more unique than generic.

By any means this is not a bad product. I was expecting something "unique" rather than a repackage of an existing product from another manufacturer, so I was quite disappointed and returned the pedal right away. For example, it would have been great to have much wider range of available distortion/overdrive with the boost function taking it over the edge but this is NOT the case unfortunately. The perceived gain reaches it's max at about 2:00 on the gain knob and it gets squishier above that while the boost function adds a bit more volume and raspiness. As I've mentioned, one's money is much better spent with a couple of BOSS DS-1s and a handful of parts to do some minor tweaks like changing the tone control range. Or get one of their Cooltron pedals!
Sound
The overall sound is reminiscent of BOSS DS-1. It does have a nicer Tone control range than DS-1, however. The sweet spot for the tone coltrol is about 9:00 on the knob. If you like DS-1, you'd most likely love this pedal.
Features
The boost function is pretty nice and useful. It's like having 2 DS-1s set for different settings or an older BOSS pedal DS-2 which had a switchable gain boost. The pad function is a nice practical touch.
Ease of Use
Very straight forward, indeed.
Quality
It appears to be bullet proof.
Value
To me, it is a repackaged DS-1. Since modding a DS-1 is not at all difficult and is well documented on the 'net, one would do *much* better by buying a couple of DS-1s and performing some of the mods to get to more than 90% of the way there. Of course, you won't have Joe's signature on the pedal(s).
Manufacturer Support
I've never dealt directly with VOX despite owning their amps and such.
The Wow Factor
If you are a "huge fan" of Joe, then you'd naturally want it. :D

great product overall.
Sound
The sound is Incredible if used with a great sounding guitar and a great amp. the "More" switch does provide a fuller sound.
Features
the Features are really cool i like the chicken head knobs and the cool red lights and hit switches.
Ease of Use
it is very easy to use just needs a little bit of tweaking.
Quality
What more can you ask for its VOX. High quality
Value
great price but should have went for retail.
Manufacturer Support
havent had to use it yet.
The Wow Factor
Hell yea this pedal is sick looking, the features, the color, and the sound is so sweet, i mean it really sounds like the Satch.
