Electric Ukes? Really? At least that's what I thought any sane musician would ask when first confronted with such a preposterous idea. First it was Guitars and Basses and then Violins and Banjos. Is there nothing sacred left in the world of acoustic music? Probably not...but I digress. Back to the issue at hand; the Vorson Vorson FSUK-1BK S Style Electric Uke.
Sound
Two pickups (single coil neck and bridge) allow for a broad range of tone among the 3 position toggle switch. Now, for the sake of clarity, this uke is not meant to replicate an authentic acoustic uke. I had picked this up initially as a novelty item and it became a quick Go-To in the studio for "that" sound that was needed for melody lines when I didn't feel my normal axes could cut it. This is a great option for alternative sounds when you're looking for something different.
Features
Again, the range of sound provided by the two pickups and three positions provided by the toggle switch. The neck pickup is pretty full and bright and when set on the bridge pickup you might notice just a hint of country twang tickling your ear-drums. Toggle to the middle position and play around with the tone knob and you'll come across tones that go from both bright and full of attack to smooth and almost jazz like at the lowest setting.
Ease of Use
If you can play guitar, you'll be in good shape. If you play ukulele, then you'll soon find why one of these is a must in your arsenal.
Quality
At first glance you might think you've come across a toy. Rest assured this is no toy. At what feels like a durable weight of around three pounds and solidly constructed (this is a solid body design), the feel and appearance is akin to that of a miniature telecaster. The neck is smooth and fast and well setup out of the factory. I had to do virtually no tweaking to get this up and playing.
Value
Certainly worth the pennies you'll spend on this item.
The Wow Factor
Great find at a even greater price. I wasn't expecting much but I was floored when I realized the versatility this uke has in both recording and live applications.

This ukulele is a great instrument for those seeking the more traditional feel of a steel string electric, but with the size and portability of a ukulele. The ukulele, when plugged in, has a sound reminiscent of an electric guitar thanks to the ukulele's steel strings and dual single-coil pickups. The neck is sleek and comfortable too. You can even do typical electric guitar licks like bends and slides with ease. This instrument is capable of playing the normal ukulele repertoire, or you can play rock, blues, or any other style you desire. For extra fun, try adding a chain of effect pedals to really get some interesting sounds. This is an enjoyable instrument at an affordable price range.

Neck is smooth and fast. Feels familiar if you're used to a traditional uke. Easy access to the upper frets. Feels evenly weighted, not neck heavy at all. Light enough to hold like an acoustic but also has strap buttons if you can't take it . Switch feels solid and wiring lead dress looks clean. Tone pot doesn't have a lot of range though. Sounds vaguely tele-ish. Was able to get the best sound in the neck position. Noticeable volume drop in the middle position. Won't stay in tune very long if you really dig in with a medium-heavy gauge pick. For just over a hundred bones this is a worthy addition to your arsenal. Really fun to run it with multiple fuzz pedals and an e-bow.
