I will definitely be keeping this guitar in my collection for many, many years to come.
Sound
I love this guitar. For the money, it provides an extremely large "bang-for-the-buck". The sound is very warm and clear, while carrying a fairly decent volume. I've found that the more that I push this guitar, the better it sounds. It provides a better than average sound when strummed lightly or finger picked. Compared to my KC70, which seems to excel from way down low to way up high and easy strumming to rockin' out, the EF740SGN is definitely a bit more mellow. With that being said, this is my "play every day" guitar. You will LOVE it!!
Features
The CT4BII preamp with built-in tuner cannot be beat - excellent! Craftsmanship is typical Takamine - very nice! One thing to note, this guitar did come with a case, though at the time I purchased it, this was not stated in the product description. Again, the case is pretty nice for the price. The interior is every bit as nice and protective as my other guitar cases, the only thing I would mark it down on are the buckles - they are a bit on the cheap side. With that being said, there is a locking buckle so it can travel with you and they certainly seem sufficient to keep the lid closed securely.
Ease of Use
Per usual, the tuning knobs and other hardware is top notch. One of the things I love about this guitar is how easy it is to fret the notes. It's a lot of fun to play.
Quality
Typical Takamine quality - you cannot go wrong! You are getting a LOT of guitar for the money on this one.
Value
I've echoed this numerous times here, but this is one of the best values currently on the market. It makes a great entry-level/intermediate player's first guitar as well as it would serve as an excellent addition to any seasoned veterans studio collection.
Manufacturer Support
I have never needed any service from Takamine directly, but they do have a US service center and their website is very nice and easy to navigate.
The Wow Factor
The finish on this instrument makes it stand out from the crowd against the light stain finished instruments that are typical at this price level. This is truly a beautiful looking guitar!

Fit, finish, playability were excellent right out of the box. I am not the biggest Takamine fan - I prefer Gibsons and Martins usually but this came out of the box ready to rock with a better setup than the last Gibson I bought. The guitar is flawless. Made in Japan at the pro factory - this guitar sounds great plugged in and acoustically. Looks cool too.
