The keys feel soft, not like hard polished plastic. They say it's a graded hammer action keybed, but to me, only in the most minor way up and down the scale. I had used the Yamaha P series and a Korg G1. With Keyscape software it's just like a real piano under your hands. One thing is I had to read the instructions closely to connect the SL Editor to the SL88. Works fine with Windows 10. StudioLogic is quick to answer any question you may have. Their brand manager said the Grand does not have the Escapment option on the keybed, because it would have interfered with the Aftertouch. Overall this is exactly what I wanted, few features, wood keys, affordable and a real piano feel as a MIDI device.

I have Nord stage 3 compact and needed a solid 88 key controller for the Nord and my home studio to control Ominisphere, Keyscape, Komplete etc. I love the feel of the weight keys and the wood vibe. It feels great to the touch and great to work your fingers on. Portable enough to take with you on the road as well as sturdy and compact. Couldn't have asked for a better keyed. If you are a piano player looking for a good feeling keyed to control your studio gear or keyboard, this is the one.

A lot of controllers on market with more on board sliders, buttons, etc., but if your main goal is something that actually feels like a piano, this is the one. Waaay better than S88 or Keystation88 that both have the grossly inferior tp100 Fatar keybed. Studio logic offers that keybed as well for half the price. Neither NI nor Arturia offer the Fatar tp40w which is in the SL Grand. So if you want a great keybed AND control fxns you just add SL Mixface for pretty cheap and you've got it all.Obviously it has NO SOUNDS. And I didn't need customer support but cannot submit review without chking all the boxes so I just thru in 5s as placeholders. If you are listening, zZounds, you could fix that.
