First of all, this Classic Vibe Bass VI is a huge improvement of its' Vintage Modified' predecessor! The fixed-radius bridge saddles, along with the new bone nut, provide a much improved intonation. The new, hotter wound pickups sound incredible and provide quite a diverse range of tones. I found it rather easy to adapt to the string spacing, being a bass player (and occasional rhythm guitarist). The only less-than-favorable aspects for me were the light color of the Indian Laurel fretboard vs. commonly used Rosewood, but this is purely cosmetic. Additionally, the factory strings are a much lighter gauge than I'm used to (24-84), so I've switched over to a heavier Fender Super 250's (24-100) to reduce the floppiness low E string. In my opinion, the days are quickly fading in which the Squier brand is viewed only as a cheaper, lesser version of the quality Fender lineup. The Squier moniker is gaining a special notoriety in and of itself and the Classic Vibe series are a vast improvement over their prior 'Vintage Modified' line. In recent years, the Squier models have come to feature better woods, pickups and hardware than previously and more closely reflect the sound and feel (and weight!) of their Fender counterparts. This surprisingly affordable incarnation of the original Fender Bass VI can fit into most any musical genre and will definitely turn a few heads —all the while putting a smile on your own face!

"A must for guitar players"

I bought this after seeing some online videos and I'm glad I did. Playing on a short scale is infinitely easier on the fingers than playing a standard scale base. Throw in 6 strings that use standard guitar tuning and you get some incredible tonal opportunities. The fact that you can play guitar chords with pretty much ease, is amazing. With that said, you are playing on a uniquely thin neck (its comparable to a standard guitar) that can be tricky playing the Low E string. The Low E string is virtually on the edge of the fret board. Do a fast pass and you really need to come straight down on the string. Any angle, and you will likely fret out. One downside worth noting is that the bridge has no height adjustment. I understand there are after market bridges that are much better, but it would have been nice to have that basic feature available. Interesting choice for pickup selection. One switch for each pickup. The forth switch is "Bass Strangle Circuit" takes some of the Low end out for smoother medium bass tone response. All in all, its very fun to play and inspiring, but you may need to adapt your play style a bit to accommodate it.

This thing is a lot of fun. I play guitar & bass, so it’s a great instrument for me. Best of both worlds. Good range of tones, all of them seem usable.I have been thinking about getting a bass iv since Squier started making them a few years back. When the CV version came out for a little bit cheaper, finally decided to get it. After a few days, I can’t put it down. Now I’m considering getting a second to put flatwounds on. This will probably be my primary soon.

"This bass is killer"

Let me start by saying this bass is awesome, I wasn't sure what to expect when i ordered it, i was worried it would sound too much like a baritone with not enough low end, and as a long time fender player I thought the build of this squire would be inferior to my fenders, but I was wrong. This bass has a lot of bottom end, and depending on the which pickup switch you have turned on, is amazing for leads and rythym guitar. I will say though, if you play bass with your fingers, you are probably not going to enjoy playing the bass, the string spacing is tight, luckily I have always played with a pick....this is overall an amazing instrument, epically considering the price, when I compare it side by side with my fender strat I can honestly say that this squire appears to be better qualit, the neck on this thing feels amazing, frets are even, bone nut is cut properly, tuners are stable, pickups sound amazing, the only complaint i have is the volume and tone knobs seem like they will fall off after some rough use, they are the only part that spear cheap, and the strings it comes stock with are crap. But those are minor issues.
