I am surprised and impressed. I got this bass as a gift for someone else (whose bass was stolen). A bit of an upgrade for his missing bass. I wasn't expecting much, being a budget bass. This was NOT what I expected. Setup was darn close to what I like, feel of the neck was better than my Dirnt model P (fret edges were well dressed). All it needed was a little intonation setting, lower the saddles a touch. Truss rod was dead exactly where I would set it already. Sound through a UA LA-610 was impressive. Very. This bass would compete very well with any of my regular herd.

I bought it about a year ago because i wanted to try my hand at playing bass. With that being said I didnt want to invest too much incase I didn't care for it like I do guitar, but after playing this bass i fell in love and now actually prefer to play bass over guitar. It arrived very quickly in just 2 days and was packaged well, it came nearly in tune, and didn't even need setup adjusted. The biggest surprise for me was the excellent overall quality. Ive played basses 2 or 3 times the cost that didn't play as well. I chose the natural wood finish which was flawless along with ever other aspect. The hardware paired with the way it plays makes for a high quality bass for a great price. I play it on a Peavey Vypyr amp which allows me to play my acoustic electric, electric, and bass guitar all on the same amp. The amp itself has a lot of effects, but you can pretty much get any sound for any kind of music out of it just by adjusting the tone knobs.

Musical Background:

20 years on and off of playing guitar. Fairly new at bass.( about 1 year)

I just got my Classic Vibe '70's Jazz Bass a few days ago. I'm loving it. The setup was almost perfect, I just needed to lower the action a hair. No blemishes or nicks, etc. It sounds amazing. The quality you get for this price is a serious no-brainer.

Musical Background:

I play drums, bass, guitar and am a mixing engineer as well.

Musical Style:

All kinds.

Super quality arrived almost tuned, no adjustments needed neck was imspec. As well as bridge saddle, and intonation, this was a pleasure, after owning numerous ibanez bass guitars, always out of wack on arrival, I can't say enough good things about this squire, other then they should have red tortoise shell pick gaurd. I swapped the pick gaurd it looks even better!

"Fender sounds at half the price"

Great looking bass. I got the blonde. Bordered maple neck with block inlays. It has a more "roasted" color than my blonde strat, I really like the look and it plays very well after some adjustment. I did have one dead note high up on the neck that may require some fret work. Tomes cant be beat at this price.
Sound
Been playing guitar for 30 years and have now started focusing on Bass. This is my step up from a beginner bass. Has Ibanez 300. It was ok but getting good tones wasn't so awesome. This bass nails the tone. Never have a problem being heard in the mix.
Features
Had to Balance the cost of a Fender Player series vs this bass. Frankly the maple neck with block inlays and the bordered neck is just a great look that wasn't available in the Player series. What I wish I had was the heavier bridge with the through body string mounting and the tuners could be better quality. My goal was getting the Fender J bass tones and it certainly has that. I don't mind the glossy neck in the least.
Quality
I had to adjust the neck significantly. Action was obviously too high. I would say for a beginner level know that you may need to take this to someone to have it adjusted to a more playable condition. It was playable out of the box but was stressing my hand the longer I played.
Value
Not gonna get a better classic sounding bass at this price point.
The Wow Factor
Squire certainly nailed the look of this bass and it comes with all the pleasing curves of a Fender J bass. Plays and sounds great.
