Excellent value for the money. The Ruby Red Burst looks great and fit/finish was excellent. Sterling puts a couple of really nice features like the wheel adjustment for the truss rod and the tool less battery compartment where the battery clicks in and no dinking around trying to snap the battery on some wires that are too short like my other bass.

Great bass! Played great right out of the box! Not crazy about the strings they use on factory basses, so grab a new set when you get one of these. I prefer the sound and feel of stainless myself. The bass was wrapped good and tight, played great right out of the box!

Musical Background:

Bassist for 40 plus years, dabble in live sound

I have been out of playing music for some time and was looking for a bass that didn't cost a fortune but wasn't a cheap piece of junk. After reading many reviews of the Ray4 I purchased it and I am very pleased with this instrument. Not only does it look nice it delivers the goods as well. My thanks to Musicman for designing a quality instrument for those of us who can't afford to spend a lot but still want to have a bass we can be proud to play at our local tavern. My thanks also to zZounds for making such doable payment arrangements. The only thing I had to do was a slight truss adjustment to get the shipping bow out of the neck.I play mine through a Fender Rumble 100, the old style with the 15" speaker, and it sounds great.

Musical Background:

Returned to playing after a 10 year hiatus. I like to play guitar & drums but I love to play bass. I play locally at taverns an.

Musical Style:

I like Rock, Country, Blues Stuff that is fun to play and people who are out for a fun night out can dance to.

Don't let the price fool you. This Bass sounds as good as my much more expensive Basses. Plays right out of the box.The sound is excellent with the strings that are on it from the factory.Finish and hardware are top notch.I play it through a Peavy bottom with 4x10's driven by a Peavy Mini Mega.Just needs a slight tweek to set the strings so that they don't rattle,Clear, crisp and punchy sound and can play any type of music out there. The finish and hardware are obviously high quality. The best sustain I have experienced in some time.It can take any music you put it up to Not the most expensive instrument but can be used with the best of artists.I have played for 50yrs +Have toured with pro groups and wish I had this Bass back in those days.It is an excellent investment for a beginner and experienced players as well.No disappointment buying this Bass.I am thinking about purchasing thr Orange Burst model next.

Musical Background:

Been playing 50+ Yrs.Bass,Banjo,Mandolin,Tenor Sax

Musical Style:

I play everything except Hip Hop,Meta, and any current fake country music. That is self explanatory

"Best budget stingray"

I've had two of these basses and both of them have been fantastic instruments. They sound great and are easy to play with the slim neck satin neck. The pre amp is pretty hot too, for me that's not a bad thing just making note of it. I've used my first one during rehearsals and gigs that have lasted hours and it holds up pretty well. It's obviously not on the level of an EBMM stingray but for someone on a budget looking for something to get you started this is it. I highly recommend it to anyone, even to a more experienced player looking to try a ray out.

Musical Background:

Have played for 5 years, been gigging for 4

Musical Style:

Rock, funk, jazz, blues, metal.
