Phil Jones Double Four BG-75 Bass Combo Amplifier

Three-dimensional 70-watt bass tone from two 4-inch speakers tucked into a shoebox? Must be the Phil Jones Double Four bass combo amplifier.

This is on the more expensive side but by far best sounding bass amp this size. I tried several other small size bass combo amps including...Roland Micro Cube, Warwick BC10, etc. The PJ Double four can output clean power at the lower registers. I'd say efficient enough for playing with an acoustic band. Not with drums...or at least drums at any "normal" volume. If you do place it in a corner of a room you will get a good bass boost. The Warwick came in second and MUCH better performer than the Micro Cube. The control knobs are very solid. It is built like a tank. Great feature to mute but can still use tuner if plugged in. I highly recommend if you are looking for the smallest package size bass amp. that can actually output at decent volume....and as stated in the other review you can plug in a 19v computer battery and be portable. I found the battery showed in the video will last a good 2 hours at close to max volume. You can get a case for it on the PJ website... it fits it perfectly with room for battery and cords.

Sounds full and powerful despite the small size, and you can run it off a 19/20V laptop battery if you want to (DC power supply is external) as seen in the demo videos. It will play a 5-string's low B, but tends to get more and more quiet as you go beyond that, but it's not designed for extreme detuning, either ;) Definitely don't regret the purchase, though I do wish it came with the gig bag like its bigger brother the BG100. Oh well. I also use it with my OP-1 via the aux input.

I purchased this little miracle about two weeks ago. It arrived in perfect shape and was easy to set up and dial in a variety of bass tones. It is amazingly transparent and makes my little Kala solid body U-Bass sound like a million bucks! At 8.8 pounds, it is definitely the most powerful, great-sounding, light-weight amp I have seen. I actually used it to play with in a five-person, hard rock band, and it could keep up with loud drums and guitars with no problem. Amazing!
