Most people seem to call this an entry level amp, and I have to disagree. While not as promoted and fancy as the Marshall's and the Engl's in the metal community, the price point is anything but entry level. But I believe it's worth every penny. I love this thing, it does everything I tell it to. Granted, it took me a day or two to really find the tone I was looking for, but it was there. If you are looking for a good hard rock/Metal amp, and you don't have $3,000...than this is it. Also, I highly encourage you to buy the footswitch. It's the only way to get the gain boost you need. And, it just makes life easier.

"Good solid pedal"

I bought the Peavey Valve King 50 and am very satisfied with it. I new right away that I needed the foot switch and noted on the registration that an included foot switch would be better. But, one other problem is that the amp has two foot switch inputs in the back requiring a second two button switch if you want the reverb to be switched, which I do. (?)

Although Peavey's pedals are bland when it comes to the way they look, they do work the way they're supposed to. I actually paired this with 6505+ 112 Combo and it works perfectly. The left button changes the channels and the right button boosts the clean channel. Works without a hitch and has a pretty long cable to boot.

Used to gig, now i just play for myself.
