"Three IPR2 amps"

Overall: 2.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I've purchased three of the IPR2 amps ( 1-3000, 2-5000) and all have been sent in to Peavey for repairs. At first I thought I might have just bought the odd one but all three fails on a regular basis with one being DOA. They have repaired them all more than twice with one three times. I have been getting maybe three uses between failure and I don't drive them hard at all. As a matter of fact I purchased the 5000s because they were more amp than I need and I knew they would be pretty much idling all the time driving two Peavey Impulse 1015s and one amp doing sub duty into a pair of EV ELX118s. I am a Peavey man but these amps have been totally unreliable. I've questioned Peavey about what the issue are with these amps but so far they say there are no issues but with three amps with the same experience I beg the differ.

"Good for a couple dozen uses before becoming a door stop or paper weight."

I had been running those unreliable Behringer Inuke amps. I thought going to the IPR series would be a step up in reliability and output. Wrong! i use the amp to run a pair of 8 ohm, 15 inch subwoofers. I was running them at half power and " pop, pop", no sound, but no smoke. Amplifier was purchased new, less than 6 months ago. It would make a great door stop or paper weight. I ran this amp 2 to 3 times a month for almost 6 months. makes a better papaer weight than an amplifier.
Sound
When this amplifier works, it has a nice solid sound with plenty of power to spare. This amplifer died on me, 6 months after purchasing. It is in a SK8 rack case and always protected. never run outside and only used 2 - 3 times a month.
Features
Most useful feature is the separate crossovers on each channel and the ability to handle a 2 ohm load.
Ease of Use
Junk within 6 months.
Quality
junk, worse than behringer inuke series

Don't. I love my peavey widows. These amps are trash. One smoked right out of the box, returned for a second that had -6 dB on channel2 and smoked after 10 minutes of half power use. zZounds took care of me, but I won't try these a 3rd time.
