"Rhythm Traveler set"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars

Works fine for supper club and casual gigs without cartage service. Situational kit only. Light, easy to carry and set-up. All fits in one custom case the size of a dishwasher on wheels (plus cymbal & stick bag). Tunable. Snappy snare. Warm bass drum. Adequate hardware. Must add pro cymbals though. No complaints from band mates or leaders. Good tool and conversation piece.

Musical Background:

Playing 45 yrs. Pro for 30 yrs. not full time.

Musical Style:

Jazz fusion, blues, standards trio/quartet, r&b, funk, country, pop, some rock.

"Pearl Rhythm Traveler POD Portable Drum Kit (5-Piece)"

The Pearl Rhythm Traveler kit is everything I thought it would be. My daughter's drum teacher highly approves of this as her first drum set. He doesn't like electronic drums so we needed something with a good sound that didn't take up much space. We managed to fit it in a child's bedroom. The size is amazingly convenient. Haven't used the mesh heads yet. We live in a townhouse and haven't gotten any complaints. Setting up the bass kick is a bit tricky for a beginner, but the rest of the set went together fairly easily.

Musical Background:

Bought this as a first drum set for my daughter who has been playing (lessons and in a band) for three months.

Musical Style:

rock, pop

"My First Acoustic Kit! :D"

Overall: 4 out of 5 stars

Having played on a Yamaha DD65 for several years, having been given a Remo 10" practice pad, I HAD to get an acoustic kit. I HAD TO!! zZounds 4-payment plan helps me as I'm on a fixed, disability income. THE KIT! I love it. I LUV IT!! I really do. It sounds much better than it appears to sound on Pearl's videos. The toms sound much, much better (tho', like the kick and especially the snare, they need some dampening of the excessive ringing)! The snare PENETRATES! IT"S LOUD! It's a kick in the [deleted :D ]! It's small--I don't have much room nor the physical ability to easily, comfortably get around a normal-sized 4- or 5-piece kit. It's a 5-piece kit--that's what I wanted. The finish is beautiful--I'll never be re-skinning it!.I haven't had to contact Pearl. My only complaints are that it came with a single chain pedal (but, realistically, for the price? :D ) and that I waited so long to get it.Buy one. Play one. You WON'T be sorry! :D

Musical Background:

How long . . .? Off and on since 4 (now 58). Ukulele, drums, sing (& dance, poorly). Non-professional-musician/pro-sound-co own.

Musical Style:

Rock, country, pop.

I ordered this "blemished" Rhythm Traveler set through zZounds. I received it and put it together. I am honestly shocked at how nice this is. I have looked for an hour for the "blemish" and can find NOTHING. I honestly have no affiliation with the company or any employee, and I am not being paid to write a positive review. This is one of the best purchases I have ever made online or in person. Fantastic price and if there is a blemish, I am requesting someone to fly here and show me where it is. Thanks zZounds! This is not what I expected. Beyond pleasantly pleased....The drums look great and they sound great also. You have to be sure to tune them to the room, as the toms are smaller and some may consider not as full, but if you tune them right they sound great. Mic'ing them they sound even better....

Musical Background:

35 years playing drums. I am a working drummer and gig 1-3 times a week

Musical Style:

Classic rock, blues, smooth jazz.

These drums are great for small venues, practice sessions, and portability in general... They really need to make an affordable case for these however... Not easy to keep damage free without adding personal protection/padding...
