I bought this a couple of months ago, to compliment my Mother 32. I am still exploring all of the possible patches between the two and probably will be for some time. This semi-modular has a lot of good, and some bad going on with it. First, the bad. Although solid, it is not built to the standard the Moog is. The knobs feel good, but are not centered so they wobble a bit when you turn them. Tuning this thing is a straight up pain. Not that it doesn’t stay in tune, mine does. Its that if you barely touch the knob, it goes up or down 2 notes. it is extremely touchy in that department. The fine tuners help in that department and you will definitely use them. The attack on the ADSR knob is touchy as well, but you do get used to it. The power cord is only about 3 feet long. I didn’t think that would bother me much but it really does. Get an extension cord ready before this even arrives. You’ll need it.Now for the good. This thing sounds fantastic IMO. It can also sound terrible, which is also a good thing. Where the Mother 32 is smooth, predictable, and hard to make sound bad, the SV-1 is much more and untamed monster. I almost feel like I am wrestling with it when I use it but in a good way. It can sound smooth and creamy, but it can also tear your face off. I absolutely love the filter. Its got its own thing going on and it sounds great. It does leads wonderfully, and can dish out some great bass as well. It also works well with the Mother 32 and my Minibrute patch bays. All in all there are tons of things you can do with just this synth. I discover something new all the time and it always makes me smile. I find myself going to this synth for sounds time and time again.
