"Best mic i ever used!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
Replace it ? Ofcourse not! I will be using this mic for a long long time! If i get another mic i will definitly use both in different projects as the tlm49 is irreplacable!
Sound
The sound through this mic is AWSOME. It is very crisp and clear.. just what i wanted. Hook it up to a GOOD PREAMP (tube or solidstate) and u will get awsome results. I use it exclusively for vocals which is what its designed for. I recorded using the TLM103 before and the tlm49 KNOCKS IT OFF !! It's brand new, and from the first couple of tests it sounds amazing. Gives u that richness and depth in the low frequencies.
Features
It only included a shockmount EA3, which was kinda hard to assemble, i dunno if i assembled it the way i should but it works so im fine with how i assembled it!! Its a one pattern cardiod mic, so it got no additional features.
Ease of Use
With a good preamp, u can go from rich thick warm voice to crisp crystal clear sound. It gives me the variation i need.
Quality
IT'S A NEUMANN!! Its heavy and fees like it could last for age..
Value
It was a bit over my budget and compared to other mics too. But considering that it's a NEUMANN and vocalist reviews i read, it was worth it. And when i first plugged it in to give it the 1st try, it was worth it!
Manufacturer Support
Didn't try and hope i wont need to.
The Wow Factor
Its not sexy, its CHARISMATIC! The color, the heavy (almost 1 KG) weight, the hard solid metal its made out of, the shape and its LAARRGGE grill gives it an attitude and its very very appealing.

"Beautiful mic when used with good preamp"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I've had this mic for about 2 years, running it straight into an Audient id14 it sounded good. It was definitely a step up from the cheaper mics I had been use to (blue bluebird, lauten la320). I was tempted to replace it recently as I wasn't able to get the sound I wanted from it. I instead bought and id24, so I can bypass the internal preamps and bought a warm audio wa73. It sounds 10x better and I am finally able to get the professional sound I wanted. If you are looking at this mic just know it really shines with a good preamp, you can have a finished sound with very little work. I feel there may be better mics in the price range, I haven't used them - but after doing some research the lewitt pure tube and telefunken tf29 may be a good contender at a lower price. Still I'm happy with this mic and would recommend it

Neumann TLM 49 Microphone Customer Review

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
Sound
The TLM49 is a little hyped in the 4k to 5khz range. If you got a good channel strip like an Avalon VT737 you're going to be able to raise the 15khz (by about 3 db) to balance the mic out for some great vocal recordings.
Quality
Uses the k47 capsule that the M49 and U47 used then.
Value
Priced very fairly for this type of quality.
