The thought of spending $500 on up for a top of the line controller is not very appealing. I'd just buy a real synth with onboard sounds that can double as a controller if I were going to spend that sort of money. MIDI controllers should work well and be inexpensive in my opinion. The technology involved in making a strong controller is FAR from rocket science and should NEVER be the cost of a space shuttle. Anyway this controller fits the bill pretty well... no problems with the one I own or it's price point.

Features
Microsoft XP Pro doesn't recognize the drivers as "offical" Microsoft approved drivers. But I installed them anyway trusting M-Audio gear to work properly in this environment without conflict (I also have a M-Audio Soundcard which is great). The drivers installed and work fine. Granted this should not be an issue or even discussed here.... shame on M-Audio for allowing this to be an issue at all.
Quality
Quality is quite good at this price range. Yes it's got a plastic case and may not be for serious live work. but at home on the home studio desk it is just fine. The knobs, keys, sliders, etc. all work perfectly and feel quite excellent... on my unit anyway... I am here at this site because I am considering buying an additional Radium 49 for another computer. So yes I'm satisfied with the quality of the one I own.
Value
My experience is that this is a great value at this price.
Manufacturer Support

The Wow Factor
Considering buying a second one. That says it all.

I'm planning on using this controller as long as I can because of the nice quality. It makes producing WAY more easier.
Sound
Great and smooth, no delay to my ears.
Features
eight assignable knobs and sliders, pitch wheel, its great
Quality
It has been in great condition since it was delivered, I wouldn't recomend it for someone traveling because of the plastic case but other than that its perfect.
Value
You can't beat this price for a 49 key midi controller
Manufacturer Support
I've never needed to use support but I've never had problems with M-Audio equipment.
The Wow Factor
Looks beautiful, it matches most of my equipment and is my center-piece to make the studio look flashy.

"Does the j0b"

Overall: 3.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
i am satisfied with this product but i expected it to look better... i wonder about Edirol midi controllers, they would probably be of better quality... For producing dance/electronic music it is more than ok. For composing jazz or serious music, it's obious that, a larger keyboard is necessary, at least 61 keys... If it was stolen, i think, i would get another brand. Not because this one is bad, i just want to experiment...
Sound
it doesnt have sounds built in.
Features
Does the job...
Quality
I "don't" think it is a quality keyboard. The plastic used is a bit of low quality. However, if u donT mind about the material used, it does the job. In my opinion, it looks like cheap organs. Ok ok... not that bad :)
Value
Its price is good comparing to its features/potentials...
Manufacturer Support
i didnt need it yet...
The Wow Factor
if u dont want to invest lots of money in a midi controller, buy this and get other stuff with the remaining money...
