Bought this so I could play guitar along with backing tracks/mp3s and have all the sound come from a single source. It works so well, I wish I had done it a long time ago. For a long time I was struggling, trying to balance the sound from the mp3 (computer into home audio amp into speakers) and guitar (coming from an actual amp), and I could never get it right – I couldn’t hear one or the other. Now, I run the computer audio into the mixer, and my guitar into a processor with cab IR, also into the mixer, and I can send the output to the amp/speakers (or headphones) and get the mix just right. I also looked at the Yamaha MG06 but chose the Mackie for the tape inputs and mid-range EQ. Some users have complained about the lack of a power switch, but I have it plugged into my rack power conditioner so it only comes on when I need it. No big deal. Haven’t used the mic preamps, all my inputs are line level. I can see using it for solo or duet gigs for sure. Great combination of features for the price. Sound quality is good too – it has handled a wide range of input levels with no problems. It’s an awesome practice tool, and I’m sure it will see plenty of other uses in my home studio/jam room. Free 2 day shipping is great too.

Love it...Being a Previous owner of a Mackie 1202vlz mk2 for home recording...I decided to give this lil mixer a chance and loved it...Not as tough built as the old one but its steel case is pretty tough compared to all the plastic mixers out...Great EQ gives punch to the overall mix...I got more quality for the price...
