First of all shipping was incredibly fast .. I received them in 2 days ! .. I originally bought these drums as a practice kit .. but after playing them they sound incredible ! Between the Looks , build quality , gorgeous laquer finish , & most importantly sound .. I'm using these babys on Gigs !! a kit you would be proud to play whatever level you are .. Just received this kit, and after an unboxing and replacement of the stock heads, I am super pleased with the sound and feel of this kit. The bass drum has a nice punch, the snare is MUCH warmer than the steel snare I had been using, and the Toms sound clear and resonant. GREAT 1st kit for a student, and even for small gigs, or a bedroom kit for practice.

Everything shipped well & the packaging was great. everything arrived undamage and easy to put together. Sounded great even with stock heads. The hardware is good where it counts, although some areas could use some aftermarket improvements, if you are so inclined. The finish is beautiful. I got the Red Burst fade color. The toms and snare and bass drum sound great, even just wide open. They have a bright, punchy attack with pleasing overtones. I only replaced the snare batter so far with an Attack 1-ply medium coated head. Now the snare sounds even better. Better than I ever expected. You can't go wrong with this drum set.

Bought these for practice, put Evans ec2 heads on them right when I got them and the emad bass drum pack. They sound so so good. The hardware on the kit is fantastic. Couldn't believe the value for this price. Very satisfied. And I received them in two days thanks to the great zzounds shipping. Satisfied customer here.

i was asked to pick out a kit for a sunday jazz series of concerts that would be used by all drummers coming to perform at these sunday concerts,...a "house kit" as it were....drummers could bring their own cymbals and be ready to go.... and i had a budget of 750.00 to use.....i had never heard of this series of drums from ludwig....the kit i ended up getting had a 16x20 bass drum and 10,12, and 14" toms in a gloss natural finish with matching wood snare drum......i actually played the kit the 1st concert of the series and i was quite surprised how good they sounded...they tuned up nicely and had great tone and projection......not sure if they were birch shells or what, but they definetly sounded very good...they were near the same cost as yamaha student level kit with same sizes but had much more "professional" features.....i paid 575.00 for the drums alone and i would be happy to use them on any gig or event....only "negative" if you want to call it that, is that it was made in china.......but this particular set was well made and sounded as good as any kit twice the price or more....
