I will be keeping this instrument for a very long time, I see no reason to upgrade other than the aquilla banjolele strings.
Sound
This banjolele sounds awesome, but I strongly recommend putting Aquilla banjolele strings on it. It is very loud and sounds like a harmonious mix between a banjo and a ukulele. I play more of a one man band style and it works great for that.
Features
This is a heavy-duty uke. I haven't had it for very long, but I'm pretty sure this banjolele could be used as a weapon! lol. It''s heavier than one would expect, but that's because it is constructed with durable materials.
Ease of Use
It's in ukulele tuning, GCEA, so if you can play the uke you can play the banjolele. As for me, I own a banjo and several ukuleles so I picked it up pretty quick.
Quality
I've only had it for a short while, but I don't foresee any problems with this product.
Value
I don't think this is a "typical" product, so it's hard to compare prices. I do know that I am not sore about the price at all. This banjolele will stay with me through the years.
Manufacturer Support
I haven't had any problems, so no, I haven't had to deal with Lanikai directly, but I do own 3 ukuleles from them and they all are awesome.
The Wow Factor
It looks so dang cool, especially with the aged-brass fittings. Such a sweet looking instrument
