JHS Emperor V2 Analog Chorus Pedal

A vintage-correct analog effect that nails the sound of pedals like the Arion SCH-1, the Emperor V2 does chorus, but is also a catch-all modulation solution.

Like a lot of JHS pedals, this is a well thought out box that takes an old classic and reimagines it with modern appointments. The tap tempo is handy for setting or matching tempos on the fly and the EQ control is very responsive. The volume control is a gain stage that needs to be fine tuned with the chorus and the vibrato. Instead of a volume control, a mix or blend would be more handy. It can be set up to run in stereo, but you need a stereo trs to dual mono ts 1/4” cable. The chorus is subtle and works to highlight your sound rather than highjack it. Because of this, it’s not a shimmering, bright, dancing chorus like an EHX Small Clone. Once overdrive, fuzz, or distortion is added, the chorus comes to life. It sounds to me as if it’s designed to be lit up by a drive pedal. The vibrato is where it’s at for me with this pedal. The three different wave shape options make the vibrato go from wavy playground slide to wobbly record player in an earthquake shake. If you’re looking for a chorus to add depth to your sound, this is for you. If you’re looking for something to experiment with and get crazy seasick noises from, this is probably not for you.

I played around with it for a few days and found it to be insanely wicked. It's definitely not a on trick pony.I got this for one of my buddies who was really interested in owning a chorus pedal, but didn't have the fettuccine to buy it. Now I wish i had purchased it for myself.
