Jet City Afterburner Customer Review

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Sound
This is a great-sounding dual-stage overdrive that very closely mimics the sound of an overdriven tube amp. Not surprisingly, the overall sound of the pedal is reminiscent of Marshall/Soldano type amplifiers. How close is it? On my Marshall JCM800, I normally play with the preamp gain at 2:00. With the Afterburner, I can roll back the preamp gain to around 10:00 for a tight, punchy rhythm; activating the Overdrive button takes the gain back to the original level...and activating the boost takes it over the top for a searing, saturated solo sound. There's a bit of a mid-hump that colors the sound somewhat, and some people might like a bit more transparency to the sound...but it's a great pedal.
Features
The EQ knob is good for taming the high end, but a bit more control over the EQ would be nice. And a separate EQ for the Boost section would be nice. But then again, the more buttons and knobs you add, the higher the cost is gonna be. Rather than add more bells and whistles and pushing the price point up, Jet City stripped it down to bare essentials.
Ease of Use
Very straightforward
Quality
Seems solid enough, and I haven't had a single problem from it....but I've only had it for a couple weeks, so I can't comment on the long-term reliability.
Value
This is an absolutely fantastic pedal, period. The fact that they're able to offer a pedal like this for under $100...it's simply amazing.
Manufacturer Support
n/a ......haven't dealt with them.

Best sounding overdrive Ive heard in a long time. There are a lot of pedals out there, but this one just beckons to be played over and over. In a live setting, I find myself only using this pedal for everything, and its making my other overdrives and distortions jealous. Has a sweet sound and a nice blend of your clean signal in the sound do deliver a nice articulate overdrive, and a even clearer distortion when pushed. The overdrive goes from real light to almost distortion. The Boost switch allows you to use this pedal like two pedals which is awesome. Think of the boost more as a second drive knob, because thats how it acts. This pedal loves to be pushed with another pedal, and so far everything I have thrown in front of it has worked really well! Check this out, you wont regret it! I have had this pedal now for a year and it still remains my main drive, how often does that happen with a pedal?

Sound
Very powerful pedal, suits most of my needs.
Features
The boost is really great for playing a chorus or something. I think the construction quality is decent, but not the very best. If i were out gigging with this for a year straight I think it could have issues. But I'm not sure.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't had any issues yet.
