overall great sound, good price and built to last. i'm definetly buying another one.
Sound
Very crisp tight punchy bass. I just djed a party in a bar that fits about 300 people in it and the bass was felt in every corner. Excellent woofer for sound reenforcement.
Ease of Use
Plug and play, the crown amp drives this woofer with ease.
Quality
Ridget construction yet lighter then the 15" mackie sub
Value
20 dollars less then the 15" mackie, yet it has an 18" woofer
The Wow Factor
Very slick design, and the jbl/crown logo light up which looks great.

"NOT RECOMMENDED FOR LIVE USE"

Overall: 0.5 out of 5 stars

Ok so bottom line this sub would be perfect for what I do if it only worked. It has all the things a portable DJ would need in a sub, and even sounds ok but JBL really needs to fix the internals on this unit because I have been let down and probably will not purchase from JBL's product line again. The QSC's are looking really nice :)
Sound
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT TO ANYONE. I have always heard that JBL was the way to go when it comes to PA sound so I was happy to find this sub was priced decent and the light weight was a bonus. I guess JBL just missed the mark with this sub. The first time I played it was in my garage to make sure it was functioning properly before I used it live. The first thing I noticed was the low end around 40-50 hertz was aweful. It simply could not reproduce the lower requencies efficiently. The unit provided a decent amount of volume for a croud of 250 when it was working that is the reason I am rating it as a 5. I am a wedding DJ and our receptions range anywhere from 75 to 300 guests on everage. This unit died on me the first time i used it at a live gig! The amp has a limiter light on the back but did not, at any point, flash read to indicate clipping and the speaker did not appear to be distorting. The unit simply powered off in the middle of the gig causing me to lose all my audio because my mains were recieving their signal from the sub's output. I had to unplug my mains and run them back to my board to get the party back up and running. The JBL never powered back on. I returned the product to ZZOUNDS and they were very helpful in the matter by sending me a replacement of the exact same model with hopes I just had a defect. The new unit made it through three gigs before it too bit the dust. This time the amp would remain powered and the signal light on the back indicated it was recieving a signal but the speaker wouldn't produce any volume and it smelled like a fried sub. I am in the process of returning this product in exchange for the new QSC K-sub. I'll let you know how this compares.
Features
This sub had everything I was looking for. Powered, lightweight, fit in the backseat of my 2004 Ford Explorer, and it was easy to setup. I JUST WISH IT WAS RELIABLE.
Ease of Use
Easy to setup as I said before and it sounded really clean/tight above 50 hertz but the bottom end lacked severely.
Quality
If the unit was functioning properly then this would be my ideal sub even without the low frequency reproduction but it simply is not reliable.
Value
Not worth anywhere near $1000. This sub might be good for a home theater application but definatly not for live use at all.
Manufacturer Support
I did not contact JBL but ZZOUNDS has been very helpful through this whole process.
The Wow Factor
It has a very professional look, part of what attracted me to the unit to begin with. I almost wish it was unattractive that way I would've never even looked twice at it.

I hope to have this sub for a least 8-10 years. I may upgrade, but I would hold on to this sub so far.
Sound
This is my first sub. Once I hooked eveything up properly, the sound quality was good. You get the THUMP! I DJ twice a week, and weekend gigs. Very portable, and it looks good. I am happy so far with this product. I want a second one now. I use this sub outside for a cookout, on 2 to 3 acres and the sound will still good.
Features
Light weight....I can carry this sub by myself. Big sound little wieght.
Ease of Use
When I first use the sub for a party, I was very unhappy with the sound. I was ready to send the back quick. Come to found out....I did not have them hooked up correctly. On my next gig, I hook everything thing up by the book, and the sound was amazing. I only have one right now, but you would have thought I had two.
Quality
The styling is very professional. The JBL logo lights up, when the power is on. It looks heavy, but it is not. You will get 2 thumbs up for the look of the sub.
Value
So far they are worth price....Good sound, Great look, Light weight...BIG PLUS!!
Manufacturer Support
So far I have not had to use them.....The JBL website gave me enough information to set this baby up. I print the manuals and everything. My first JBL experince.
The Wow Factor
You will have a professional image with this sub.
