Let me start off by saying that this guitar arrived to me packaged BETTER than my $800 Ibanez I ordered. Out of the box, it was already set up to my liking which was a shock. I took a chance on this guitar being that it dropped to $200 and wanted to try a Jackson out. I am simply amazed and thought to myself, if this $200 Jackson wow'd me, I can't imagine one that is of higher quality.For the price, it truly is an incredible instrument. The pickups don't do bad at all, I like how the whammy bar just pops in/out, not screwed in, the Satin Black finish is very nice, kind of like a matte finish. I am here to say you will not be disappointed in this guitar at all. Great guitar for beginners, kids, or even someone who has been playing a while like myself.Great job Jackson! My next purchase on here will be another Jackson.

After reading numerous rave reviews about this guitar I ordered the satin black model and I am frankly astounded.For the price I've not seen a better a better bargain.First: the shortcomings. The tuners aren't the best but you can work around that by always tuning up, not down. If you're a little bit flat, turn the key down then bring it back up to maintain tension. The pickups are adequate but lack definition when the gain is cranked. I pulled them and installed some Dimarzios; Super Distortion & PAF 36th. The pups cost almost as much as the guitar but the improvement is considerable.The electronics are typical of inexpensive Chinese guitars; tiny pots but they're working fine - good taper and response. The extreme slant of the string path through the nut to the tuners ensures the strings will hang up in the nut when using the tailpiece. I added two springs to the bridge to basically lock the bridge on place. (I could've bought the model with the tune-o-matic bridge but I prefer the vibrato bridge because you can individually adjust the string heights.)Now for the good stuff! The satin finished neck is slender but it's not a twig. The frets are nicely dressed and better than on some models I've played that cost twice as much. The amaranth fretboard has a nice tight grain and is really smooth. The nut is properly cut. The neck joint is tight and well seated. Like the neck, the satin finished body is nice and doesn't slow your hand movement if your hands are sweaty. The body is lightweight but has a nice resonant quality when played unplugged. Oh yeah, and this guitar is SERIOUSLY COOL LOOKING and a lot of fun to play. And that angled headstock is just plain wicked looking.

Don't let the price fool you, this is a serious guitar. I own a lot of guitars and this feels and sounds like a 500 dollar guitar. Solid, great neck, not too heavy... good tuners, decent pickups (unless you're recording and need the best, these pickups are fine for gigging out). I'm ordering two more and leaving my expensive vintage stuff home from now on. This gets the job done. I don't do the whole 80's whammy bar thing, and if you're playing out and break a string, you're screwed with a floating bridge, so this version with the traditional bridge is the better choice for me. And I like this plain wood finish... sweaty arms don't stick to it, so it's perfect for the working musician. A much better guitar than a similarly priced Ibanez, for sure.

Top notch for the money. The black hardware pops and the satin black finish looks sleek and powerful. The guitar has an arched top, who does that for $200? The pickups are more than adequate, the bridge is a cool 2-point fulcrum and it has a pop-in whammy bar. Oh, did I mention it has a Wizard neck? They are standard on Custom Shop guitars. This guitar puts most others at this price point to shame.
