Ibanez SR800 Electric Bass

The beauty of the natural wood finish mingles with the modern tones of the Bartolini MK-1 pickups with EQB-IIIS EQ for a focused-sounding bass guitar.

"Overall a great bass"

I am a guitar player that plays bass also when recording / coming up with ideas, etc. I've always liked Ibanez basses because they are light, have a good scale length, and easy to play similar to a guitar, not so bulky like other basses. The look and feel of this bass is what I like. Not too big and heavy, not too small and puny, lots of fingerboard access.
Sound
Sound is great. Typical of Ibanez, no suprises here.
Features
Lots of sound options, good pickup configuration, nothing in the way playing-wise. Neck is smooth and fast.
Ease of Use
Overall usability is good, no issues. Easy to play, neck is thin enough and narrow enough for many hand sizes. Easy access to higher frets.
Quality
This is where it fails somewhat. It was an obvious rush build. The peghead on the top has a big spot where the finish was sanded through. Neck has a rise in the wood where two layers meet, should have been sanded better! The knobs feel cheap and one is kinda bent, the frets stick out on the sides, poss due to wood shrinkage, and are sharp, buzzing everywhere, needs a light setup. For this price, I expected better. I have a cheapo older $400 Ibanez that is built better. Build is sub-par. Maybe I got one of the first runs, I don't know.
Value
If the build quality continues, they need to lower the price!
Manufacturer Support
Haven't used it.
The Wow Factor
Even with errors of the build, it is fun to play! You can play all kinds of styles with ease on this bass, it's a keeper. Hopefully production will work out the kinks in the future.
