I'm a working professional bassist in the area where I live. I've owned a lot of instruments - entry level to high end. I purchased this particular bass for the need of a 5-string with a tight budget, and I am very impressed. For $400, you get a mahogany body, 5-piece laminated neck, passive humbucking soapbars, and an active EQ? The bass is light, but not too light. Definitely beats my brick of a Jazz bass that I've been playing, which weighs in around 14 lbs. This bass is about 8-9 lbs. I like the radiused top on the pickups, but I don't love the voicing of the pickups. Don't get me wrong, the pickups sound good; I prefer a different voicing. This is an easy fix with a new set of pups. Neck is slim and fast - very comfortable. The metallic navy blue paint is beautiful. I received the bass last Friday, unpacked the bass Sunday, and took the bass to a blues/rock/funk jam on Monday night. Bass performed well with fingerstyle, picking, slap, harmonics, and tapping. Everything note was clear. If you're looking for a backup 5, or on a budget and need a good quality 5, do yourself a favor and order this SR305B. Overall, I am thrilled at the quality instrument that I received for such a small price.
