The sound on this axe is enormous....check out Hennings review of this monster.I have medium sized hands and really love the ease of playing a fan fret.No adjustments needed except your playing just got easier. The open pore finish lets this guitar breath each noteThe Fluence modern pickups are like nothing I’ve heard before.Crystal clear and smooth....I was laying down some tracks through my Fractal AXE IIand when I played them back I was blown away how each note in a chord comes through even in high gain patches like Modern Chug. The other huge plus is the lowest strings sound crisp and articulate...due to the multi scale neck....Comfortable cut aways semi gloss finish....the Nyatoh ash. Body has a very Even projection of high and low registers. The new neck carve is great because it’s not super shallow and the extra Wood gives the guitar ridiculous sustain....Over all great value for any style of playing.I play mostly melodic metal and dream theater type music and this guitar sounds phenomenal. The pickups are really quiet which also aids in the clarity at high gain.I must add that the Z is the best store for real musicians with mountains of experienced sales people....go Z!

This is the first guitar from Ibanez that I purchased that wasn't considered a Prestige. I'm a bit of an Ibanez snob and believe they save their best stuff for the higher price ranges. That being said, I really wanted a Multiscale guitar and I really wanted Fishman Active Pickups to play with. Also, something without a trem system so I could easily bounce around between tunings. I got this guitar and there was a weird issue with the G string where it would detune easily and frequently. After looking a bit further into this I noticed that the nut was plastic. I ordered a 6 dollar Graph Teq nut and replaced the plastic one and sure enough, the issue is gone. That is the only down side to this guitar. There is one thing I would like to call out as well, and that is that online I've seen many reviews saying this is an Iron Label - but no, there is a lesser version of this which is Iron Label, and the reviews on that are pretty bad. However, for this Axion version, oh man am I happy I got this! It plays wonderfully and the Fishman pickups take some getting used to if you're coming from a passive background, but they're wonderful! Highly recommend this to anyone willing to replace the nut for a really great instrument.
