"Good Acoustic for the Money"

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
If you want a relatively cheap acoustic for rhythm, this is the one for you. It plays and sounds great.
Sound
The high-end is crisp and well defined, not overly bright. The lows are a bit on the muddy side. Overall, it has a very smooth sound.
Features
There's no pick guard, which I suppose could be a problem with some people. They used some very good looking and sounding woods. The tonal properties of each seem to compliment each other well with the exception that the low end is muddy. Maybe they should have used a ebony fretboard.
Ease of Use
It uses '12s' so it takes some getting used to if you only play electric. I still have a hard time bending more than one semi-tone.
Quality
There are no cosmetic problems with the guitar. The body's Ash top is actually quite striking.
Value
Yes.
The Wow Factor
It is a very striking guitar. The body's Ash top makes it stand out from the typical all brown or black guitar. They should have added a cut away in the body because it's impossible to use the top six or so frets. I use this guitar more for chord work, anyways. If I had to use it for lead work I'd feel limited. The neck is the perfect width and depth for my hands.

i think this was a great investment. the guitar promises to season well and last a long time
Sound
the sound is bright and unique. the low action give it almost a percussion sound if played hard. play personal jesus on it to see what I mean. the lows are nice and the brites are crisp
Features
even though the finish is just a thin layer glued to the surface it is very well made and the inlays, binding and neck assembly flow flawlessly. the tuners are very good too
Ease of Use
it comes set up out of the box and is fitted with good strings. my only issue is my frets buzz at the 13th fret and on. but i am fixing that
Quality
for a production line guitar for under 300 this is the best i have seen yet
Value
for 250 bucks BUY IT!!!!!! you wont find better outside of a lucky deal at a pawnshop
Manufacturer Support
never had to deal with them
The Wow Factor
this is a very attractive guitar i wish the neck and fingerboard were ash or maple though

"Striking looks and full sound, what's not to like."

This review has been selected by our experts as particularly helpful.
I have had this guitar for a few years and do not plan to part with it. The sound if great and the beauty of the Ash body just puts it over the top.
Sound
It has a full bright sound and can really project. I play both lead and chords on it and both sound good. I have changed the strings out for 12 gauge Martin FX, the difference is noticible. The tuners are pretty good and precise. I have also put in a Fishman Humbucker pickup, it complements the guitar nicely. Ibanez does make a version of this guitar with a Fishman pickup pre-instaled and a cutaway. I use this guitar to play accoustic versions of hard and metal, it works. Two tips change the strings and if you can find the right size (4.3) replace the bridge pins it will make a difference. I am also thinking about changing the sattle and nut from plastic to bone. I think once I am done with modifications I would rate the sound a 10.
Features
My guitar did not come with any accessories, but I know you are suposed to get the standard extra bridge pin and larger sattle. No big deal to me. As far as materials, mohogany neck, rose wood fret board and dispite what other reviewers on the net have said it is a solid ash body, just look in the sound hole and see. Over all I like everything about the guitar, but I will be changing out the bridge pins, sattle and nut to bone from plastic eventually.
Ease of Use
It is pretty user friendly. The neck is a good size for my big hands, but I think someone with smaller hands would not have a huge issue. The body is a jumbo, so that might not be for everyone, but I like the larger size and the fuller sound it projects.
Quality
There are no blemishes on my guitar and it feels pretty "solid" for an accoustic guitar. It has traveled with me in a thickly padded gig bag with no issues. I do have a back up 6 string, but I have found I do not need it. I only use it for alternate tunnings now. I think the guitar will last a long time and do not plan to replace it until I can aford a Martin D-35 or D-28.
Value
It is deffinately worth the price and more. It is comparible to much more expensive guitars.
Manufacturer Support
Ibanez is a pretty good company and local to me. I had to special order a guitar from them, I received it promptly and without hassle.
The Wow Factor
Oh I wanted this guitar long before I bought it. I love that sound that the Ash makes. It has a very full sound. The guitar is beautiful without being flashy, I have had many comments on it.

"GREAT GUITAR AT ANY PRICE"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I have had this guitar for about 10 years now. It still looks brand new! the quality of the workmanship is second to none! The only problem that I've encountered is the bridge saddle is wearing out (grooving on the B and E strings). But that is to be expected after 10 hard years of at least one gig a week.

Ibanez EW20AS Acoustic Customer Review

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
happy as hell with this purchase
Sound
after 26 years of playing guitar, easily worth every penny. A little buzz on the higher end frets but that easily taken care of.
Features
only wish this unit came with a pickguard. However, this would steel away from the beauty of the instrument.
Ease of Use
So easy!! so forgiving!
Quality
Lets put it this way! I fell off stage on top of this gutiar! Not a scratch except for my face. Tone and tune held beautifully
The Wow Factor
OMG if this instrument had legs I would bang it!
