Ibanez AEG1812II Acoustic-Electric Guitar, 12-String

A thinner body and shorter 25" scale make the 12-string Ibanez AEG1812II a great choice for electric guitarists converting to acoustic guitar.

I bought this for both my son and myself (guess who uses it more). This was my first purchase from zZounds and being able to spread the payment with no interest rate is just extremely helpful and considerate of zZounds so thank you so much Double Z! My 12 string arrived actually 1 day earlier than expected which was a nice plus. Came in perfect condition and no shipping or handling issues. The IIbanez AEG1812II Acoustic 12-String is simply beautiful. I got the sunburst. This guitar is very comfortable to hold, not very thick nor to thin. I was amazed on the guitar's neck how extremely comfortable and easy to fret. Most 12 strings have a slightly wider neck, but not this Ibanez! Action was just right, for my son and myself we didn't need any additional set up. The only thing we did was swap out the strings for some Elixirs. Tuning heads feel solid and it holds it's tune well (once the new strings broke in). The electronics sound really good when you plug it in. The only thing I wish the electronics had is a midtone Adjuster on the eq. It only has treble and bass, but that's my own hang up. It projects nicely has a nice full rich sound. The low end is nice and not too but not too dominate (again strings play a big role on your sound). Sounds very clear. I am happy with my purchase.

"First 12 String"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars

I tried a friend of mine 12 string. I liked it so much, I started looking for one that I could play without going over my budget. I found the Ibanez I liked everything I read about it. Very nice features for the price. The reviews were good, so I went to local guitar store and got mine for Christmas. I play it all the time. Can't beat it.

Received today. Opened box took guitar out of protective bag and was surprised to find it in tune. One B string was a tad flat.Used on board tuner to tune the B string. Checked it with my tuner...dead on.Color and finish is better than expected.Thought it was small, but I have an Applause oval back, everything else feels small.Tone is good. Action great. Then neck is easy to play. Feels like a 6 string.A little quiet but loud enough. Have not plugged it up yet.Happy with it.

"Ibanez AEG1812II Acoustic 12-String"

Bought the brown violin burst. Love the color. Setup was good. Nice action. Lowered to D standard as I always do for 12 strings. No buzzing. Nice tone even though it is a smaller bodied 12 string. Had a Takamine 12 with jumbo body .... like the feel of this better. A little compromise in volume but not much. More like playing a regular acoustic. There was a small blemish in the finish on the top near the neck. Looked like missed during factory inspection. Not serious enough to return, however zZounds did give me a credit equal to about 11% of the purchase price. I have purchased many instruments and pieces of equipment from zZounds and this is the first issue I have had with quality, but they stepped up. Thanks, zZounds!

Musical Background:

Self taught, play 6 and 12 string guitar, mostly acoustic. Some garage band history, mostly play at home now.

I purchased this from zZounds on November 17, 2018. The customer service they provided was second to none. The Ibanez AEG1812II was delivered when promised. The finish on the guitar was nearly perfect, with only a couple of small irregularities in the finish that could only be seen under the correct light. Great looking guitar! The set-up was “ok” at best and the fret edges are very sharp and need to be filed and finished. Given these short comings, it played alright when tuned to pitch. Sounds great! Now it is the end of January and one of the neck bolts came loose, and fell out. I had to unstring the guitar to replace the bolt closest the the top, and I also tightened the lower bolt, which had backed its self out a little. This should never happen on a guitar that had less than 20 hours total play time or any guitar for that matter. Overall I think I received a dud. I would not buy this guitar again. Quality is just not there, even at this price point.
