Hohner 532 Blues Harp Harmonica

A master of gritty, dirty tone and pitch bending thanks to its enhanced reed system, the Hohner 532 wails away with true blues style.

The German-made Hohner Blues Harp in A Major is a great addition to my hobby collection. The things I noticed was Hohner does a bit less stamping (key used to be stamped and is now painted on end, numbers are etched and no longer stamped, and the box is super-cheap. The hinge is just the plastic of the case, weakened to serve as a hinge, so expect it to fail. This unit shipped quickly, was packaged well, arrived in top shape and the tone for all notes is spot on. If you have the right tuner, you'll see that each comes in right at the frequency for the indicated note. Enjoyable to play. This one has a larger/redesigned outer shell that seems to allow a better dispersion of the sounds. In comparing with my C major Marine Band, the sound projects more in the newer design. Also noted that tones start immediately upon playing, whereas older M Band version needed a bit more force before reed vibrations began. This one ships with a credit for a month of free lessons, but you can find plenty on YouTube and others.
